Do you go to Catholic school or what? I've seen your picture, you do not need makeup. You also shouldn't swear, it makes you sound like an online trannie.

But but...being an online trannie is cool. =) As long as you're not a trannie offline, it's all good.
And nah...an all girls school. Strict. I just wear eyeliner. And they have bitch fits over it. D:

Sat, 02-02-2008, 03:04 PM
It might be cool until people start thinking you're a guy posing as a girl and then it's all downhill from there, or it gets really really weird.
I never understood eyeliner. Base coat on the face I can understand, and lipstick. Maybe even eyelash thickener. But not eyeliner. My mom had her eye lines surgically made permanent, which was huge among Asian women in the 80s and 90s. I can't see the point.
Junior
Sat, 02-02-2008, 03:08 PM
But then it's even cooler! Sometimes, being a guy online is way better. Hence why I chose the name 'Junior'. <3
It's just to outline your eyes a bit and make them...eye-catching. It draws attention to them. My eyes are quite boring without eyeliner.
Permanent? That must've hurt. D: My mom told me about it but I think it's a bit...extreme.
Animeniax
Sat, 02-02-2008, 03:36 PM
I seriously doubt that you need eyeliner to make your eyes more attention-getting. Of course, I've only seen pictures of you where you're probably wearing eyeliner, so what do I know.
My bitch: I just washed a new $70 cashmere scarf in the regular laundry, so I think it's ruined, plus it smells real bad. Like a wet sheep (or dog).
edit: I just read that cashmere is goat hair, so it in fact smells like a wet goat.
Junior
Sat, 02-02-2008, 03:52 PM
haha thanks anyway. xD
Cashmere is GOAT hair...? *shudder* How do you normally wash a scarf like that anyway?
Animeniax
Sat, 02-02-2008, 04:31 PM
I just read online that you're supposed to hand wash it, and dry clean it only if necessary. I didn't even know the stupid thing was cashmere, though the price should have tipped me off. The content list was in squiggly lines (Katakana) and says kashimiya, which turns out is Japanese for cashmere. And yes, it is goat hair.

Yeah, ever since I started knitting, I've had to read up on all sorts of different fibres, cause when you go to the yarn store to buy yarn there are a million options, and it's hard to know what to buy. Pretty much anything made with animal fibres (i.e. cashmere, alpaca, wool, etc) can only be hand-washed unless it's been chemically treated to be immune to the washing machine and dryer. And yeah, they do usually smell like wet sheep/goats when the fibre is wet, but once they're dry, the smell should go away. If it doesn't then there's a special kind of soap you can use to wash it, that should help.
These days, when I knit stuff for people, I'm pretty much only using acrylic, because it's virtually indestructible, and can be pretty soft too. My super expensive alpaca-silk yarn I'm saving for myself, cause I know that after putting in so many hours to knit myself a sweater I won't accidentally put it in the wash......I hope......

I pretty much only buy low maintenance clothing, so it's all cotton for me. I got the scarf because everyone else is wearing one and it's cold here. Typically I don't even like stuff around my neck, makes me itch. You are right, the scarf stopped smelling funny once it dried. Unfortunately it's raining, so it will get wet and smelly again if I'm not careful. Thanks for the advice!

after serving me well for like 6 years now, my desk chair is very nearly dead.
My roommate freaked out because he missed a couple times playing lead guitar on Green Grass and High Tides and we only 5-starred (didn't quite make gold stars) it at the end of a 10-song setlist on rockband. That's a song that your threshold for being pissed off about missing on any given part should be "damn, I didn't pass" ... not "damn, I didn't get 100%"
This an hour after telling me that I've been playing the game too much :p
Also, what started out as a minor personality disagreement at my job has turned into a major daily issue. I'm ... evaluating my options.

I'm not a very confrontational person so when my job becomes going into the computer lab to try to keep people quiet or what not... i'm not very happy.
so anyhow, there are like 5-6 obnoxious people in here, which begs the question...
why do black people talk so loud? i mean, not all of them do. but alot of them its as if they think they need to yell when they talk to be heard.
I don't want to be too much of an asshole and just restart or shutdown their computers, and i dont see who is complaining since nobody in here is doing anything aside from myspace and watching videos.
i think i'm just going to disable the sound driver on all of the computers next time i get a chance.

so, a couple weeks ago, the department of energy cut back the budget of the project a bit. As part of the process of adjusting to the new, smaller budget, my managers decided not to transition my contract to a full-time position.
So for the last week I've been jobless, and considering my options and my future.
Today I'm going to an interview that's about 10 minutes further away than my old job. Just based on that fact alone, I don't think I really want the position. Seems like being where I am, it's hard to find people who want the sort of sysadmin that I want to be.
I'm a bit ... troubled, because I'm 27 and I don't yet know what I want to do with my life.
Update: I'm not going to that interview today, because the nearly a mile I have to walk up and down various hills is covered in a fine layer of ice with a layer of water on top of it. I'm usually pretty surefooted, but I fell twice between my front door and the end of the sidewalk (which is about 10 feet). Landed well both times, but .... not good at all...

complic... sucks. if you are the database pimp, you can surely get plenty of interview ops, most of the job listings i go through want sql + vb, and i'm finding it a little weird that job postings for positions like 'entry level junior administrator' then go on to say they want a bachelors degree and what not...
anyhow... its tax time, and again i'm getting nothing back. i dont know the dynamics of it but only a little more than half of my income shows up as taxable and then the amount of taxes i should have paid this year is about twice as much as the amount i did pay, so i have to round up some book receipts and what not today to get tax credit to cover the gap.

Well there isn't really anything to enjoy from watching people have sex. At first it was kinda interesting more as a topic of conversation than anything else but that didn't last and after being woken up in the middle of the night or not being able to go to sleep it got very annoying. I have an aunt who was into that kinda stuff though, she had some white neighbors across the street who used to have sex in the middle of the day, literally 12pm, and she would break out the popcorn and everything and spend the evening watching them.

Lol what is it with white people and not utilizing curtains. People really don't need to be able to see into your house and at night that's all leaving your blinds open does. And if you're going to have sex It should be common courtesy to try and minimize the impact of it on your surroundings, I say give the fuckers the note. You never know, embarrassment and guilt have worked wonders in the past.

When I was in highschool, I swore I would never babysit again. I can handle it fine, but I don't enjoy it at all. Seriously, I never want to have kids. Ever.
Anyways, I was convinced to babysit twice a month for this semester, for these two couples, so I have to look after two 3 year olds, and two boys in grade 6 and 7 respectively. If it was just the little kids, I don't think I'd have a problem. Heck, I put them to bed an hour before their bedtime, and when they're playing by themselves, I don't worry about them because I know they're fine. The boys on the other hand.... ugh, I can't leave the two of them alone together or else they try to kill each other. And every other line is "You're fat" "You're gay" "You're a nerd" and they're obsessed with making jokes about bodily functions, and female anatomy if they think I'm not listening... well, most of you were young boys at one point, so you might have gone through this particular stage. The house where I babysit them isn't even their house, and last time I left them alone for 10 minutes, and came up and there was popcorn all over, on the floor, the carpet, the couches..... Tonight I almost gave the older one permission to beat on the younger one because he was being so annoying. The older one at least thinks I'm really cool, and will at least try to make sure he looks like he wasn't the one being immature, when I'm there. *sigh* After this semester....NEVER AGAIN.

Well I skipped that particular stage. Its funny imagining Kitkat baby sitting kids that fight and call her names. You honestly don't seem capable of being mean you should atleast try putting on a strong front. Kids are easy for me to deal with either they love me or I scare the shit out of them, so they are easy to control. My advice would be to just let them fight until they get tired, I did that and when they realized no one was paying attention to them or would stop them, they stopped.

I've been tempted to buy a hair straightener, but hair is really thin and gets split ends so easily that I dislike subjecting it to anything really harsh like that. So, no dye, hairdryers, or straighteners for me. Plus, my 5 years in engineering didn't give me much time to spend styling my hair each day, so I got used to just tossing it back in a ponytail or braiding it. Or creative uses of bandanas XD

Not that I'm not enjoying this discussion about hair, but I have an unrelated bitch:
I've been sending out lots of replies to people/bands looking for bass players and I'm having trouble answering the questions in their responses. I need a good way of saying "I have absolutely no experience jamming and creating music with other people" that doesn't also imply "I'm a newbie and I suck".
Not that I actually do suck, but that's essentially what the message boils down to. Like telling a possible employer "Yeah, sometimes I surf the internet at work when I'm bored". Very frustrating.

My bitch: dealing with the bottom half of the gene pool. I work with a bunch of underachievers who think they are doing well in their lives. They're older guys with little real technical expertise and no work ethic, which explains why at 40 years of age they still make $50k a year tops and they're only low level techs. So when a young whipper-snapper like me comes around (oh btw I'm Asian and most of these guys are white or black) and tells them what's what, they get upset and accuse me of being rude and condescending. One guy got mad at me for telling him it's "library", not "libary".
I know it's their own insecurities and lack of mental aptitude, but they somehow find a way of making it my fault for making them feel bad and they make it seem like I'm the bad egg, when really I'm the only good egg in a carton of bad ones. I really need to get out of this line of work (IT support) and move up in the world, so there's a more clearly defined separation between the ones in charge and the mutts doing the grunt work.

If you're happy with what you have, be happy. Remember though, a retarded kid loves life because he doesn't know it could be better.
The biggest problem I have with these people is that they think they're doing well and they think they know what's what. Neither is the truth. This one guy raves about his 1992 Lexus like it's a Ferrari. It's a 16 year old car. It's almost as worn out and ancient as he is. It wouldn't be so bad dealing with him if he wasn't so proud of his meager accomplishments in life, which are the basis for him questioning my authority and superiority.

Of course I'm better than them. Even if I'm an underachiever like them, at least I realize it and want to change for the better. Also, if someone higher in standing or learning than me gives me some direction, I don't get upset and pissy about it. I realize my own limitations and deficiencies, so what excuses the mutts from having to do the same? To be completely forthright, they should recognize my authority and bow down. But I'd settle for them just taking it nicely when being corrected or getting some direction, instead of getting their underwear in a bunch.

Nope, job recruiters. Apparently someone with exactly my skillset is in an absurd level of demand around here.
However, the first interview I went to this month, I ran into some Mormons at the station while I was on my way home. I was dressed in a suit and tie carrying a backpack, they were dressed in suits and ties carrying a backpack.
Them: "Hi!"
Me: "Hey, what up?"
Them: "Have you ever talked to missionaries before?"
Me: "Haha! Oh man .... yeah, I have."
Them: "What'd you talk about with them."
Me: "Judging by the suits, nametags, and the fact that you're wandering around in a pair, I suspect the same thing as you want to talk about now."
Them: "Oh... so I guess you're not really interested then?"
Me: "That's right"
Them: "Ok. Thanks!"
They were the most understanding missionaries I've ever talked to. I didn't even have to break out my dabblings in Bible scholarship or my extensive repertoire of Zen parables to get them to go away.
Anyway, Tuesday was the only day this week that I didn't have some sort of interview. Wednesday of next week is the first weekday that I don't have an interview scheduled yet. It's ... seriously getting a little out of hand. I think the interview I went to day is very likely going to result in a favorable sounding offer....

not having a car has been pretty standard for me for a while. I had one for about 6 months in college until it broke down.
I've got roommates and friends that have taken care of transportation needs in the past, and both where I went to college and where I'm living now there's fairly extensive transit systems, so ... it works out ok either way.
But yeah, soon as I've got an offer, I'm going car shopping... there's a lot of lack of freedom when you've gotta pester your friends or roommates to go anywhere. Especially with the current roomies, who're both paranoid about their (relatively cheap, relatively shitty) cars and won't let other people drive them.
The interview today is actually at the site I'd be working. The interview yesterday was 2 and a half hours by train/bus, but is only 25-30 minutes by highway, in traffic.

I actually miss IT... but not working 4 extra hours daily is a bonus though...

But they work almost everyday until 11pm or more... It seems interesting... and a way to learn more of Databases... but heck... they should give me at least 33% raise for me to accept that work... I interviewed for a what would have been a really good job last week. Pay wise i was thinking around 30-35,000 / year. So, today i came across this company advertising the position as $50,000 : ( *kicks self*
yesterday I had a big meeting w\ the owner, co-owner, and my 'boss' who hired me about making me full time. Basically I told them I need around $30,000 / year... so now i guess i'm waiting for them to either A.let me go, B.Hire me and pay me what I asked or C. Make an offer to pay me less than what I asked.

Wed, 03-05-2008, 06:21 PM
So now I have a handle on the job situation. I've got two offers on the table. One's a very competitive salary that I could probably get about $5k/yr more. The other's a grand less than the first's preliminary offer, and that's as high as I could get them to go, but it's a better job with better hours and benefits. Commutes are comparable.
So now I am faced with a dilemma: do I take the slightly lower-paying job with kickass benefits that'll guarantee me an 8 hour day and lower pressure, or do I take the higher-paying job with not quite as kickass benefits, which will not guarantee me 8 hour workdays?
To put it more directly: how much is 6 grand really worth to me?
Assertn
Wed, 03-05-2008, 11:18 PM
That's up to you, complich8. Also depends on how much total we're talking here. $6k within the $50k range is more significant than $6k within the $100k range. For me, $6k pays about 3 months of bills....which...isn't that amazing. Over time, the cons of a job will carry much more weight than the pros, so don't accept terms that you might not be content with six months from now.
Or, if you're going to job hop like I did, which one will help you move up faster?
complich8
Thu, 03-06-2008, 12:48 AM
Well, the lower paying job is still a 12k raise over my last position, and has a stellar benefits package. As far as hopping goes, I think both are positioned as long-term, and either way I'll be doing better than average for the field, area and my experience level. Both have a lot of options and a lot of opportunity to explore, so I'm not going to stagnate like I was at my last job ...
I think I'm going to take the lower-paid one though. My gut feeling is that the pros outmatch the takehome pay difference (which would be ~$350/mo after taxes and whatnot). I mean ... the benefits package is absurdly good...

We had car crashes, evacuated buildings because windows were falling, fallen trees, fallen... err... how do you call them... the big advertisements on the streets? the ones with coca cola and all that shit... well those...
One of these fell over a passenger bus, while it was moving. The crash was... spectacular... anyways...
We also had the power cut... from tuesday night until friday night... then again on sunday... and yet again today...
Almost 90% of the city didn't had light...
I really do not care about the city though... but it left me... incommunicated... I took vacations, but decided to spend them at home... no phone, no tv, no computer, no battery for laptop... no friends because they were working... bleh!

Questions:
How the hell is everyone getting laid but me?
You probably know the answer to that.
How the hell isn't this thread in the pit?
This thread is civil. The pit is not. Clearly you don't understand the difference between the pit and the rest of the boards. I suggest you re-read the description of the pit as found on the front page of the forums, and the "welcome" sticky in the pit itself.
And, to stay topical...
My bitch of the day: the recruiter who was trying to get me to take a worse job than the job I took totally fucking lied to me, because he was pissed about losing the commission for finding me. He told me I should expect 2 or 3 hours a day to go the 16 miles south to get to work if I took the job I took (as opposed to the pretty much guaranteed 20 minute northbound ride it'd be to take the job he was recruiting me for). But today I drove it between 8:30 and 9:00 am (pretty much peak rush hour), and it took like exactly half an hour. And that was with an accident causing slowdowns about halfway there.
Seriously, he was offering a pretty comical amount of money while I was on contract, but that'd just make the pay cut of going permanent sting more. And a 9-10+ hour workday + 40 minute round trip commute is WAY worse than an 8 hour workday + 60 minute commute.
Also, the salary they wanted to hire me (promising me 50+ hour workweeks) was, given the amount of work I'd be doing, NOT comparable to the salary I got. In retrospect, them trying to sell it like it was a great position was just ... shitty, really. If you need 60 hours a week of sysadmin work fighting fires, you don't hire one good sysadmin and expect him to put in crap hours, you hire two good sysadmins and expect them to keep up with the fires and improve the setup to the point where they're not constantly firefighting, and hope that either your business grows to support the need for them as they get on top of things.

Wow nice. Its been so long, I actually miss the hurricane season. I much prefer my NYC weather though cold, dark and wet.
Break out the candles and the flashlights and invite anyone over who is willing and able. Good times, good times.
I have experience in his pain, it gives me right to laugh.

Sad thing is it came un-announced (sp?). It took everyone by surprise. And the media classify it as a hurricane... but it did not even get a name or anything.
Heck... it did not even rain... it just... had wind... at 120km per hour...
Im trying to find a better video... but here you can see the bus crashing, plus the sound and strenght of the wind

So what's the plan now Chiodos ?
The plan? All I can do is give her support, show that I care and i actually want, how painfull it is for her, share all the shit with me.
I told her that we're in this together, whatever difficulties that she will face.
Today, soon, she try a pregnancy (?) test but the signs that's been showing, I am 69.83% that she is positive.
The thing is, in the current situation, I, we, can hardly keep the child. I don't really have that big fucking great future the way I've been raised but she has. I know I am labelling her but she has a big fucking talent and I don't want to ruin that for her. Atleast not yet.
I want to actually show the kid that there is a way fucking better world than the world that I live in. How naive and childish that seems to be.

I was looking at the top 10 rated musical venues in DC.
Apparently, there's like two concerts that I think might be worth seeing in the next two months. One of them is already sold out, and the other is like $45 per ticket for a group of 6 or so bands playing, which means the one band in the group I'd be interested in seeing is going to have like a 3 song setlist.

Hmm...A minor complaint, but the other day I went out with a couple of friends to this event called "Club Day", where you are able to go to a bunch of clubs in an area of Seoul for a flat rate...long story short, one of my friends says "Let's get fucked up", which I thought he meant that we should just have a couple of shots; but he literally got so drunk that we had to chase him down (much to the chagrin of a few lusty ladies) and force him into a taxi. Nothing against getting drunk, but I wanted to get that off my chest, so to speak.

actually it's worse now ...
Ensiferum is in the group of six, and they're sold out. Symphony X is a little more expensive and will sell out before I have a chance to convince my cohorts to check it out. I don't even remember who the more expensive performances at other venues were, because I wasn't really even into seeing them.
That's the big problem: the groups I'd want to see perform aren't coming here any time soon. I'm stuck debating whether it's worth the cash to go see hit-or-miss local shows at $15-$20 a pop to try to broaden my pool a little... but my roommates are kind of lame as far as willingness to go out and do stuff goes, so I'll probably be on my own if I do start doing that stuff.

I've only slept 7 hours in the past 60. I almost couldn't stay awake last night, but luckily I never drink caffeinated beverages so pepsi is like a wonder drug for keeping me awake. I ended up handing in a 35% paper today that I wasn't happy with at all. I have another 30% paper due on Friday, as well as 4 job applications and a scholarship application due tomorrow. I thought that in linguistics I'd be free from this kind of stress. And I'm at the stage of sleep deprivation where I can't even be angry about it. Instead, I really just want to sit down in the middle of the computer lab and cry. Seriously, missing this much sleep messes with your emotions. I almost spent the entire night here last night, and I haven't eaten today because I've been feverishly working on my paper and then had 5 hours straight of class. I just keep reminding myself that it'll be over in two weeks. I want to go home.

Alvedon in Sweden, the most common anti-headacke pill and it actually has this thing if you overuse it it may kill or lower the restistant bakteria prodiction inside your liver(sp?) and it may cause inside burning.
Wich will pretty much kill you, depends on the how much you take, whatever you've blend it with or if you take....

This was an interesting day in a very shitty manner.
It all started when I turned on my trusty (or so I thought) computer. I was greeted by a disk error instead of XP launching. Whilst still wondering what the heck happened, I noticed a bright flash from inside the case, and then the undulating toxic smell of components burning. After venting out the smoke I realised my main anime HD had indeed caught fire and was ruined beyond redemption. And my system drive was corrupted enough that even XP repair install wouldn't help it.
It turned out the IDE channel (yeah, I'm still using those instead of SATA), was rendered nonfunctional. Maybe it was caused by the HD that caught fire, maybe not, but it was enough to cause the XP on the system drive to go bad when I was trying to figure out why it didn't boot.
Ready to either take my katana and disembowel myself or do something about the whole mess I took the burnt drive to the shop, for, surprise surprise, it still had exactly one month of warranty left. Then I got myself a new HD because I wanted to save what I could from the corrupted system drive. And after installing XP on the new drive I was able to do that, using an external HD case to host the old system drive.
So, now I'm left with only one working IDE channel, and a fresh XP installation with nothing but virus scanner+firewall, Firefox and mIRC running. And some 100 gigas of downloaded anime poorer.
The only bright side of this all is that I lost the Rosario+Vampire anime episodes in the fire.

Ah, I was wondering what that was. Alvedon's active ingredient = Paracetamol. Basically, when it's metabolised in your liver, it breaks down to an intermediate, which is toxic. It's probably the safest pain killer in terms of side FX, compared to NSAIDS like ibuprofen, but is easy to overdose on. I think >4g a day = die of liver failure.
/off topic.

This part broke my heart, KitKat. I really hope your job applications go well and you get some much-needed sleep and good, hot food. Sleep deprivation is awful.
I have a strange complaint today: My roommate ate some of my peanut butter. I'm not too angry about that part, since I couldn't care less if he ate my food. I'm glad to share.
But did he have to mess it up? I had originally cut a line in the middle of the jar and only took peanut butter from one side. I was really looking forward to seeing a peanut butter jar half-full only on one side (for the lulz, as usual), but I just opened it up to find two clumsy scoops missing from the untouched half of the jar. I'm not usually anal about peanut butter, but Goddamn. I was working really carefully at that .

Don't ask me. Based on all the descriptions of hard drive failures I've read (like clicks of death, ball bearing failures and such) a spontaneous self-combustion was the last thing I expected.
I should have taken a photo of it. But you never come to think of that when it matters the most (or when it's your own precious stuff that gets destroyed, and so you can't heartily laugh at it).

2 of my other roommates and I had a similar problem like this too...food was being stolen from the 3 of us and we all knew who it was. But the fact that pissed us off was that he lied about it. I'm happy to share my food anytime with someone who needs it...none of us understand why he never asked either. We confronted him about it too and he gave us his word that he'd stop AND he'd finally pay for the utilities I had been covering him for so I'm seriously like praying I get my money from him before I move out and the semester is over.
Although I looked at my bag of rice and it was in a different position today and the rice cooker wasn't washed too...I kind of hope I'm just being paranoid. I don't want to go through this crap again. -___-

Yesterday I had returned some books to the library that were both overdue. Now, I don't mind paying the fine on mine, but then my parents had me return DVDs that they took out, and are asking me to pay the fine on them. This is supreme bullshit. Now for my real bitch:
I hate group projects. People have proved time and time again that they are always able to find some way to let me down. I just don't understand their mindsets behind this. It's okay if it's an individual mark and if you don't care enough to do a decent job then so be it. However, if you're in a group then you drag everyone down. Are they not aware of this? Do they not care about what the other group members think of them? Do they not feel guilty when someone else (ie. me) puts in a lot of effort and tries to pull the group together, while they exert a half-assed effort and let others down?
I never drag the group down because I never put myself in a position to do so. I'm always the unofficial, unelected group leader who organizes everything and assigns work to others. Of course, I also assign work to myself, and usually a large chunk at that. I do this because I no longer trust other people. I no longer believe that the other members can do as good a job as me no matter what kind of work they take on. So far throughout my life, there hasn't been a single exception to this trend. I've always been the "best" group member.
My most recent group project was no different. I pretty much organized everything and the others didn't seem to mind. It's always good for one person to stand up and rally the troops.
Problem with Member #1
This person said he'll write a majority of the report in return for not having to do any of the hands on part (building a bridge). Nobody opposed this idea, so he went ahead and did his thing. Originally, I told the group that I'll do the final editing of the report after everyone's done writing. Nobody opposed that idea either. Two nights before the due date, the guys were still quite behind on the report, so this person said he'll do the final editing instead. I okay'd it since I still had quite a bit to write, and I figured it can't be that hard. On the night before the project was due, the other two guys still haven't finished their parts (very small parts, actually), and it was already past midnight. This person told me he'll definitely have everything done and ready to go by the next morning, when the project is due. He also said he'll email out a copy of the finished report the following morning for everyone to check before he prints it.
The next morning, I get to class early and check my email. There it is - the final report. However, it was missing stuff on the title page, it was missing a list of references, it was badly formatted. I immediately sent out an email for him to fix some stuff. A few minutes later, I logged onto MSN in hopes that he would still be online, and he was indeed. I told him I skimmed through the report and mailed out a list of small changes that must be incorporated before he prints it. He then replied as if he read my email and is making those changes as we spoke. Great. 20 minutes later, he comes to class with the report printed out and none of the changes were made. I asked him what happened, and he said I never told him about any changes.
WTF...?
And we got a shitty mark on the report.
Problem with Members #2 and #3
These two never show up on time. One of these guys had our finished project (the bridge) and all he had to do was bring it from his dorm to class at 10 AM. He couldn't do that. It was 9:55 and he still didn't show up, so I was pretty worried. I called him and he doesn't pick up his phone. He eventually arrived at 10:20 and I didn't even bother asking him where he was. I no longer cared.
The other guy is horrible with communication. It felt like he never reads any emails, but he does.
Throughout this entire project, I did all I could to divide the work fairly among the four members. Why can't everyone just do their share? If I could write the entire report by myself, trust me I would. However, I couldn't because I also need to be there for the hands-on work because the other guys might not know how to build it for whatever reason. Even though I pretty much designed the whole thing myself, the other two guys appeared to be on the same page as me. It was a millboard bridge that held 460 lb., which put us near the top of the class. So yeah...I believe I did my part in terms of the design work.
The worst part about all of this is that I feel like all of this was beyond my control. I gave an honest effort and the rest was up to them, and they utterly and completely let me down. I just don't understand these other guys. They have less work than me, yet they do a poorer job and drag the entire group down with them.

That's pretty much the same reason I never like to work in groups. In fact, only recently, I was placed in a group with two other guys to create a report and presentation about the slang of the twenties. I said I would do the whole essay, while they only had to worry about the presentation. My report pretty much saved the grades. I got an 88 while the other two got 70s.

i really really need to stop going to US sites checking prices whenever im going to buy some electronics... Currently in the market for a camera and stumbled over the fact that cameras such as this HV10 (http://www.willoughbys.com/shop/product.aspx?ref=cnet&sku=4000CANHV10BK) is 320€ in usa and around 1100€ here. I know it's more expensive here due to higher salaries, currencies, taxes etc, but still irritates me as much every time.
Someone send it to me >_>

Sure, send $500US cash to me, and your new camera should show up in the next couple weeks.
It's been a bitch-free kind of day today. Besides having to put up with some truckers hanging out in my office, it was slow and a buddy showed me a cool manga scan website so I got to read some manga. I'm also one step closer to setting up an Xbox360 in my office to help pass the time. Not a bad day at all. Oh, and there's shrimp creole for dinner at the cafeteria. Here's hoping I don't jinx it and it tastes as excellent as usual.
edit: the shrimp creole was as awesome as usual.

Today's Bitch: Writer's Block
Ugh. Over the past six months, I've been working on a fanfiction series (laugh all you want). Only recently, I've gotten the case of writer's block where you can write something coherently, but you friggin' hate what you write. Nothing seems to be working. I've chalked it up to not writing my work down in longhand, but I'm kind of doubting that's the whole thing. I don't want to take any breaks, 'cause then I'm worried about not remembering half of my plot and screwing something up. Also, I can't stop because I've already started the latest installment in the series. So, I'm stuck, screwed.
Another possibility I've come up with is that I'm spending too much time on GotWoot, but that can't be the case, can it? XD
Anyway, that's all I got. Ani, glad to hear your shrimp was satisfying.

python862, too much time on Gotwoot? Then don't go to the AnimeNewsNetwork forums. But I'm not here to only bitch about those. Rather, the force inside compels me to keep posting there.
Full of elitists more often than not, idiots, and the occasional staff member with a very clear opinion who are more often than not completely closed to other viewpoints not on, or contrary to, their agenda. The pervasive holier-than-thou attitude through the forums against the Nazi-esque evil that are "fansubs."
Yet for some ungodly reason...I post there from time to time. Each time my posts (in response to someone else's) are utterly ignored. If you want a response, you have no choice but to Troll. Or I see willful ignorance rather than even the slimmest shred of research or unbiased opinion...and then I swear I will never post there again.
Definitely a better idea to just stay on Gotwoot.

This, really, truly does suck. That's why whenever I'm in a group, I step my game up, even taking on the responsibilities of others if necessary. Sounds to me like you were the lead in this project. In future projects, you might want to consider the following: These projects are usually long-term. If you're playing "team lead", you might want to consider overviewing the entire project, and dividing the work as fairly as you can (which doesn't necessarily mean equally). Both of these you've done. But the problem in how you handled it was you took their word that they would do what they said they would.
There's a way around having to deal with this. Take a look at each person's responsibilities, and come up with what you feel are mini-milestones, for each person. Then, come up with set deadlines for each of them to reach those mini milestones. You may want to involve the group in coming up with this (or at least make it look like you involved them). Once the group agrees, whether or not they do what they should have, or perform as they should have, you have several points at which to evaluate where this project is heading, and try to take measures to improve the situation. Some other points are, if you do this, you might be able to go to whomever is going to evaluate your work, let that person or those persons know you did this, and then let them know that one or more of the the group members are jacking off when they should be working. You'll have very specific points that make that professor or boss sympathize with you and possibly aid you. Otherwise, you get what you got, assed out, and at the last minute, without a damned thing you can do. Again, I'm sorry man, that sucks.

My friends are starting to piss me off about this girl I plan on "seeing", just because she's a bit light. I know you GWers will have a field day with this, but they assume that she looks like and adolescent just because she's like 43 kilograms or something (she doesn't, and was born in 1985 to boot). I'm actually a very light person myself (only about 70 kg).
Animeniax

You're only 70kg? I've seen your pictures man, you look bigger than that. At 70kg, I outweigh you (I'm 75kg). How tall are you?
At 43kg, she is very petite, but being a young Asian female that's not that big a deal, especially if she's short. I think the Twins Charlene and Gillian each weigh about 43kg (95lbs) at around 5'3".
My bitch: people who overstay their welcome. We have a lot of transient workers pass through the office for special projects, and as soon as their work is done, they should move on. Unfortunately they get comfortable and stay as long as they can, and in the meantime, start helping themselves to whatever materials or conveniences you have available to make themselves at home. I appreciate the help, but they're getting paid to do the job, not as a favor to me. But since they're "helping", they feel it's ok to impose on me and my resources. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't mental midgets and didn't smell so bad.

lol this kind doesn't have any added sugars or anything in it. it's just pieces of cut up fruit, so it only has the regular kind of sugar that's in fruit. not really bad for you unless you have diabetes or IBS, or are a dentist
and yes, smelly people are not fun. maybe, since they're helping themselves to your stuff already, you can leave a bottle of cologne on a table and hope they help themselves to that too?

My other bitch for the week: weak, soft teams are doing well in the NHL playoffs. After the rough and tumble Ducks won the cup last year, a lot of teams changed philosophy to include more toughness and grit. If a soft team wins this year, a lot of teams will give up their toughness and go with weaker lineups next year. It will suck.

It's weird, but sometimes when I'm doing something and it just won't go right after a few tries, I stop and think about it for a second, and realize I was doing it wrong in the first place, and it was like my subconscious was telling me I was doing it wrong, so I was subconsciously messing up on purpose.

Writing hints in your iPod, if your actually allowed in your school to wear one during class.
There's also a program that allows you to take text files and convert them into PSP-screen-sized JPEGs. Although, I've never actually used it to cheat.
As for Archangel, you'll be fine. I never study for anything, and somehow I end up well-and-good with everything. Just relax. As long as you don't get what those so-called "experts" call "Test Anxiety" (Which is really a load of bull in my opinion), I'm sure you can figure it all out. The best thing to do is remember what the question is asking you as you're answering it. Think back to the first or second time you heard the information, and if there's any important facts, they'll stick out like a black spot on white carpet.
Now, for my bitch: Classmates.
So I was sitting in my US History class today, minding my own business while somewhat half-heartedly listening to the teacher. She goes over what we'll need for the quiz tomorrow, and when she finishes that, she says something-or-other about homework. This springs up a discussion. Okay, fine. But then people begin suggesting that the homework be worth more. They explore the idea, and I hear numbers floating. 25, 30, 35, 40, 80%. Now, see, I'm not the guy you'd look to to do his homework. I pass all my classes by classwork and tests/quizzes. So, and in no small way, this would screw me over. Well, the discussion starts winding down and the teacher's beginning to come around and agree with the class. Unfortunately, the majority decides, "Hey, this'll be great!" and the deal is made. Now our fourth quarter grades will have 35% of them based solely on homework. I didn't want to speak up, for one since I had just moved here not two months ago, and I don't think my opinion would cound in the first place; and two, like I said, this was a majority, so my say definitely wasn't going to count. So, I'm stuck needing to do at least some small amount of homework in order to keep my passing grade (which, surprisingly or no, is a B - surprising for not doing HW...). Add to this the fact that I'm always going to forget my book at my locker everyday, because I don't go to it that often, and I'm stuck walking home, which means I don't want a thirty-pound book to compound my already-eighty-pound load. And it's beginning to get hotter here, which is even worse. So, back to the matter at hand. I hate classmates... now let's see how many of them fail because of their stupidity.
Eurasian

Why don't you just leave that book at home where you'll need it? Or photocopy it and leave the copy at home? Or make a friend with someone who lives nearby so you can borrow their book for homework and they can borrow your book for class. Preferably a hot friend of the opposite gender.

Also, I laugh at high school kids when they think they get a lot of homework. Once you go into secondary education, you spend more time studying/doing homework than you spend time in class. That is, of course, assuming you're going to a good school and not a useless "diploma vendor".

The higher-ups for out degree just suddenly had a great idea. They'll increase the amounts of spots for students each year, but to maintain quality, they'll make the exams harder. Weighs out doesn't it?
They pretty much made our 2nd year oral exam a whole lot harder, and I feel sorry for the 1st years. We've got a counseling exam at the end of the semester, and it's like the most pressuring test we've yet to come by. Depending on the situation, there are certain critical questions that we have to ask/address, and some minor ones that we can score if we want to. Pretty much if you miss a critical question in your counseling the patient, you fail that part of the test. Fail the test, you fail the course, since you have to pass every component. Do that, and you can either leave the degree or come back next year and do it (and it ONLY, plus anything else you failed.) again.
Well, if they put it in the exam then it can be done, you might say. The lecturers thought that too probably, and just decided to prove it to us by doing a demonstration right in front of the cohort and have others mark them.
Funnily enough, he failed. He missed a critical, and also went over the time limit. His communication skills got pounded on. And this guy's our course co-ordinator.
Basically, it was one big "freak you out" session. I'm a high-aimer and my grades are quite good, but honestly, if I pass, I'll be laughing.

Today was a fairly shitty day.
First off i got kicked out of a school project cause of some totally fking unfair reasons, so now i have to redo all that shit again next year, this is mostly due one dude in my group and even though i spoke to the projectleader, he still believes otherwise, so messed up.
Second, I lost my freaking gloves at school, fuck, yeah i grew quite attached to them not only cause they cost me 90 euro's when i bought them, they also fit really nice.
I'm sad and angry at the same time now ;(

Wow, so this person who worked on the course can't pass it himself? That's screwed up. That had to have told the person something. What are you studying? It seems to me like you're in a sort of public speaking class or maybe a medical school...

Yeah, I'm doing a pharmacy degree. I'm sure that it's not impossible, despite my last post, but just the fact that he failed, and he's been in the profession for how long tells you how likely it is for us to screw up.

Well I'd hope a degree in pharmacy requires some rigorous training and examination. All we need in the world is more untrained pharmacists issuing out the wrong drugs or a bad combination of drugs that end up making things worse for the customer. I hope you do pass, Buffalobiian, as at that point it will pretty much guarantee you know what you are doing.

ok. It's 7:42. The directv people were supposed to be coming between 4 and 8pm... they even called me around 3:30-4 to assure me they would be here around 5-530...
9:55pm... The ''tech'' came at around 8:45... looked around for 5 minutes and said we didn't have line of sight because of all the trees out back and now we're wondering if he just didn't want to climb on the roof...omfg.
Comcast is also way too expensive... 45-50 for basic cable, 13$ for hd DVR, and then 13 for one set of movie channels or 22 for two sets... i might settle tomorrow idk.

Can you please give me that flu?! I wouldn't mind losing that much weight! =P
Trust me, you don't want what I had. I'm like a stickman now:(. Luckily I have access to all this fatty American food for a couple of days before I go back to Asia. But i managed to get sick again. Don't know whats up with my immune system lately.

Umm... U HAV AIDS!?
No, but seriously, that sucks for you. Enjoy the fattiness of our local cuisine.
Well, it's raining again here in good ol' Connecticut. And it's probably not gonna stop till Wednesday. I don't think that needs an explanation as to why it's something to bitch about, but I'll say anyway. Not having gym class sucks, I can't go outside without a thorough drenching, and it's beginning to get cold again. What's really surprising about the first reason is that I used to absolutely HATE going to gym class, and now it's one of my favorite classes. Must be the New England weather. LOL.

I withdrew all my paypal money to my bank and then tried printing a shipping label that it said was $27.... it wouldn't print it so i had to take it to the UPS store.... they charged me $51 for the same package even though i'd overestimated the weight by 8 pounds online.... bastards....

Trees and the war on Sudafed. That's my bitching for the day.
The short version is: I've got nasty tree pollen allergies. It sucks, and it sucks a lot more now that I'm two USDA hardiness zones further south than I was last year at this time.
And what's worse, with the whole "pseudoephedrine is a precursor for methamphetamine" thing... the Safeway by my job doesn't carry real sudafed at all anymore. So I had to leave work early to go home and buy some real, effective sudafed, because I couldn't keep focus long enough to accomplish anything.

its kinda rediculous to have to provide id and sign off on a single package of cold medicine in case you wanted to cook it into whatever minute amount of meth you could make from it...

Likely because people like me cook it. Well I don't anymore, but I have, back when you could buy like 3 boxes a week and one store didnt keep track of another. And everytime there would be a big ass line, and I know that many people don't just all of a sudden have allergies.
However now they've figured out how to make meth out of Claritin. I swear junkies are fucking geniuses, if they'd only apply themselves to something positive..

I think junkies are like hackers. They aren't happy unless they go against the grain, like rebels without causes. They think the establishment is so bad that they have to fight it. Pretty pathetic really.

This is going to hit a nerve with people but I really don't care. Its the fucking internet. If you don't like it leave the web page or, whatever you kids are calling these things days.
Anyway. My bitch is a girls privacy bubble. I hate that fucking thing. It scares the crap out of me to even talk to a girl I like. I guess it comes from being raised by 4 older girl cousins and an older sister. I was raised to knock on every door in my house because of her. Don't get me wrong, respecting girls is fine but man am I right or just paranoid? I think they implanted some kind of respect chip in me. Because every time I want to talk to a girl, everyone one of them makes me feel like I have no right to be talking to them at all because of that damn privacy bubble.

I'm tired of hearing this girl's snide fucking comments all the time! I can't handle it anymore, if she complains one more time I'm going to blow a gasket and tell her off. And I don't tell people off. Especially people I hate. (I have a tendency to avoid conversing with/looking at people I hate, because my pure hatred usually shows in my face. I think I began doing this in 8th grade, when someone told me I was turning my seat around 180 degrees to stare at a girl who basically ruined my social life in that town.. but that's another story)
Yesterday I was in Calculus, and we had rotating groups to teach each other problems on a test. She explained two problems to me like I was stupid. She pointed everything out and talked very slowly and made sure she nodded her head a lot, pointing to underlined crap. And I don't mind that. Then it came to my problem.
"You take this function and you integrate it.." She interrupts me to take her calculator and punch in the numbers, "Okay now you integrate from 1 to 2" She does this. "Okay so you have that function. Now you add C, and your C is the 2 because we're in integration and the initial velocity is two" She gives me a disgusted confused look, "Waiiiiiit! How do you do this by hand?"
Uhh, what the fuck? I don't remember know how to integrate the natural log of a sine function by hand. There is a reason why it's a calculator portion. "I don't know how to do that," I say. "I only know how to do it on a calculator." "Did you not do this problem?!" she yells at me. "Is it not the calculator portion of the test?!" I respond. "Well why do you add two?" She changes the subject. I pause for a few seconds. "Because your initial velocity is 2, and your 2 is the C."
"Whatever, you didn't tell me that, you didn't even read the problem before hand!" (Oops, I assumed you read it while you were taking the test like the eleven people who came before you)
.......... Now I have to put up with her bitching about it in English. Among other things, like other people's bad grades, other people's personalities, and other people's families. And she calls herself a Christian.

Does she use it as a way to protect her "position", a place higher than any other else or is it you, who clearly wrote that post in angst, just a way of trying to "lower her position" in your fury by connecting the "Christian" statement into her personality?
The point is, if you manage to read between my lines, becuse I'm having an obvious bad habit writing non understandible sentence, it might help you overlook things more clearly.
Anyway, peace.

I don't think she does it to higher herself up, I think she is just like that because she thinks she is right all the time and the things other people do are pitiful and disgusting.
I included that part because she constantly bitches about other people's lives and families all the time. Like they are living life soooo wrong because of this and that. Example: Someone got a B in English and she was like "OMG I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW YOU COULD GET A B, I MEAN ALL YOU DO IS HAVE TO TURN IN WORK." (No one told her this, she looked at the grades on teh wall and announced her dissapointment)
She critisizes people's entire families, calling them liars and naive and what not. And then she turns around and bitches about how she loves God and needs to spread God's love around the world, etc. She pretty much alternates between testimonying about God, and bitching about how other people live their lives in possibly the most snide way possible. I was pointing out about how she's a hypocrite in many ways.

I agree with Munsu. Only three ways to deal with those kinda people one tell them you're a satanist kinda dramatic but solves the problem quickly. Other option is to actually discuss it with her which I'm sure despite all her talking she will be unwilling to do, if she is then if you're particularly well informed on the subject it should be easy enough to make her look like a fool. The other option would be to smack her upside the head and say "God doesn't like ugly!"
am I right or just paranoid? I think they implanted some kind of respect chip in me.
Yeah they did and the chip seems to be working perfectly too.

Actually I feel a lot better. Apparently she was yelling at all the other groups too, because this morning everyone in my Chem class was pissed at her. Now I take it less personally. I yelled at her today for another reason though. We had a paper due today, and a kid who uses Win '98 could only access a printer at school (saved on a floppy disk). The floppy disk was all messed up and bent so he couldn't print it. The English teacher (that bitch) wouldn't accept the paper 'because he didn't come to class prepared'. The girl who I was angry with earlier was all helping the teacher and telling the kid off, so I told her to stop helping the kid fail and she shut up, haha. I also brought up that she also had brought a paper to class late before and she didn't seem to have a problem with -that-. She defended herself by saying "Sometimes I just say what I think, woops"
