you did the right thing confessing to her. it's also okay if you tell that you don't feel like talking to her for a while. it's okay to feel hurt and not want to 'be normal' with her for a while.
let it out, gear up, and try again. things will work out eventually.

Totally agreed with everyone above. Getting rejected sucks, but when you find someone who's into you as much as you're into them, it makes all the rejection worth it * 100.

All leaders are serial killers one way or another. Your people are going to "enjoy" what they voted. I hope that things dont go too much out of hand there. Its true that we usually only learn from bad experiences, and only for a short time, but I wouldnt like to suffer a dictatorship or martial goverment to refresh the memories of the masses.

Anyway this kind of attitude is common all around the globe. People blaming others, looking for a strong savior, protectionism, nationalism, bigger goverments and intervention. Its like 1929 all over again. We will see if it ends the same way.

That's some unbelievable shit, man. Cultural differences really are vast across the globe. But on the other hand, people are the same everywhere, so if culture changes a little, anything can happen anywhere.

To be honest, though, I'm not sure which is worse: Politicians who do too much, like yours, or ours who don't do anything at all but just talk shit, drink coffee, and collect their wages while watching the country falling apart.

shinta|hikari
Thu, 05-12-2016, 10:13 AM
To put this into perspective, the country is rotting for ages now. People are just tired of the usual politician, so they chose a gunslinger in hope of changing things.

I just hope it doesn't turn into martial law again. It happened about 30 years ago with a similarly no-bullshit president.

It's kind of funny the same thing is happening in Finnish, although since "terrorist" (terroristi) and "terrorism" (terrorismi) are loan word, the basic word "terror" shouldn't be used in the first place as there's the normal, old word for terror/horror existing just fine. Yet, "terror" has been also mutilated into terrori in Finnish and is used precisely the way you are complaining about. I bet that word started to be used after somebody in the English world (was it Bush, then?) began to use "terror" in that erroneous way.

Of course our situation is less troublesome, even if no less stupid, because terrori wasn't a part of our vocabulary originally and thus it refers to nothing but terrorism. Maybe this will cause the English language also to restrict the word "terror" to things that are linked to terrorism only, leaving horror/dread/etc for other, general things.

not important enough to post again in my old flamepit thread, but I've started reading pokemon manga again.
and Black & white arc is amazing, but it's immediately followed by Black and white2, which has the shittiest character lead.

it's the same mistake from the emerald arc, the story starts with him being 'the ace' and having the best resources and having a bunch of side character propping him up as the next jesus. also, he acts a bit like a predatory douche.

and it's a shame, because the black and white arc rocks.

I don't suppose you could recruit help from the gym/facility you were at to fuck up the guy (either getting your phone back or just punishing him in some way) by proving it was him with CCTV outside of the locker rooms. It won't directly prove it was him who stole the phone though, unless it was a really quiet time and only you two were using it.

Also remote-wipe your phone if possible. I should get around to setting that up.

I'll take the time and post an update.

there's another round happening right now. this time it's sort of a war. I don't know personally any of the victims, but I know a few who did know them. I've heard the alarms last Saturday morning, and was called to service in noon. now I'm home for 24 hours after things are more clear. I'm deployed in a relatively safe zone, and my function there is also mostly in-base and I'm not expected to interact with arab population. but it's still military service, and there's always danger.

Nobody knows what the future will look like, this might become a long conflict which will change how the Israeli-Palestinian situation looks in a fundamental way (maybe undoing the 2005 changes), and it will defiantly change the Israeli society.

oh yeah, I should probably mention that there were more alarms (meaning more rocket attacks) today. about six or seven above my city. It kinds of becomes a noise in the normal daily routine. it happens to everyone I know, and I'm lucky that I get 90 seconds warning to get to the shelter.

and yes, this is fucked up, but I'm lucky since I have those 90 seconds, and it happens only a few times a year, there are places (like those which were attacked) that have 15 seconds warning, and are getting rockets fired at them every day.

speaking of which, turns out we were building shelters against rockets with the same assumptions for earthquake shelters - we expect it to keep us safe, and be easily accessible if the rest of the building collapses and people need rescuing. since the attacks last Saturday it seems that we should treat them as panic rooms - lockable from the inside and protected against invaders.

I was like 19-20 years old in the army, and I thought it would have been more pleasant for 15 years old boys. My last refresher was a long time ago, as well. But then again, naturally the circumstances here are different compared to yours. We either have no conflict whatsoever or it's a bloody total war against Russia, like Ukraine is suffering now. The kind of half war, half terrorist hunt that you have wouldn't really be a scenario here.

-digestion/transit
-quality of sleep, not just duration. Often goes hand in hand with the first point
-try to get rid of anyone and anything increasing anxiety, stress or anything negative
-learn how to floss your long nerves.
-learn how to maintain or even improve mobility in all your joints
-walk, make it a habit, move. Somehow we're built for that and failing to do so seems to be detrimental
-any function, or skill you don't use you will slowly lose. So try to sharpen everything you can.

What do you mean by flossing your long nerves?
I don't really walk much, but I don't sit either. I lie down 90% of the time, and I have 0 back problems compared to when I worked in the office. I exercise in bursts, such as HIIT, tabata, and just pushups. I got a Quest 3 (had the first one) to improve aerobic.

Not sure what happened to me. My Muscles decided to die on me and my body decided to start eating all the fat. I have lost almost 50 pounds and I think a mix of both muscle and fat. I was 230, now 180-183, fluctuates. My CK levels reached 8000 over the course of 48 hours. No Heart attack and no stroke.

My life is slowly becoming hell. Pain all throughout body, toes to head. My muscles feel like they are being ripped apart. That burning feeling on your muscles after an workout, that is what I feel all day long. Starts about 60-90 minutes after waking up. As of November 26 a Sunday, I now get shakes on my right hand or arm.

I am hoping not too serious. I am hoping the specialist can find out what is wrong with me. My CK levels are near normal now. 2 weeks on IV to get under 1000 + drinking 4-5 Liters of water a day for a month now and have to, doctors orders. I am not allowed to lift more than 5 pounds, which is hard to do. I still drink 4-5 liters of water a day. My CK levels were going down slowly but going down, so stuff are working correctly. Definitely! The doctor ruled out Diabetes first. Sugar levels fine and Insulin levels good. So I know it's not that. I'm thankful for that. I blame myself, I ate KFC and A&W and Pizza a lil more often than I should have I am guessing. At least twice a week of a mix, like KFC one day. A&W or Pizza on the weekend. I was exercising daily, like push ups, walking, some light lifting 60-80 pounds weights. Wasn't enough. I do walk daily now more, at least 30-45 minutes a day. Before was 20 minutes a day. All I am allowed to do is walk daily now. It sucks but baby steps.

I apologize for the double post. It's been 6 or 7 months lol.

Just giving an update on what is wrong with me.

***UPDATE***

The specialist I saw referred or deferred me to a Neurologist and he did a genetic test on my blood and apparently I was born with Muscular Dystrophy and I have no idea why this disease decided to wait 44 years to start making my life hell.

Based on my symptoms I had narrowed it down to Muscular Dystrophy or Parkinson's. I guess I have to have the worst of the two. I cannot believe I went from being able to lift over 140 pounds over my shoulders by myself to barely able to lift 5-10 pounds now without my CK levels rising a good amount.

I have a diagnosis now and it is one I am not happy with. The good news is according to the doctor, I may never see a wheel chair, but I have a lot of other health concerns that come along with this disease. I wish it would have waited 10-15 more years to do this to me.

@Buffalobiian It's not rhabdomyolysis, it's something far worse IMO.

@Kraco

@Buffalobiian

True and due to my age, apparently it is rare to be diagnosed in the 40s age range. There are a fast and a slow progressing type. Duchenne's being the worst and fastest progressing type, and that is usually diagnosed from 6 months to 10 years of age and me being in my 40s, I think or maybe the doctors believe I have the slow progressing type and it also depends on the subtype and from what I was reading there are 30-50 different sub types.

Even if it is a slow type... I have to be mindful of heart disease, losing lung capacity and my muscles are deteriorating and hoping at a slow rate like the doctors believe and hoping to live a somewhat normal life span albeit in a lot of pain every day.

Just from reading the different types and age of onset, I am hoping I have either Distal DM (MD) or Myotonic. Either one has a somewhat normal life span with just getting weaker. The main focus for me now is to try and stay active with aerobic type exercises and walking 30m minutes a day to try and keep what I have and hope the progression does stay as a slow progression. It should be slow due to me being in my 40s and at least this is the mindset I am going with. Trying to stay positive.

Doctor wants me to go on Gabapentin or Lyrica and after researching both, the side effects scare me. I want to try and go on medical CBD oil if anything because I believe it will be more beneficial. I don't see my doctor until July 2nd. So I will ask then and hope I can go on that instead of those other two.

All I can do is continue to enjoy anime and enjoy the time I have left. :)

Yeah, not sure how well Gabapentin or Lyrica (pregabalin) would work for you. Classically they're used for neuropathic pain, but if you've got muscles that are degenerating, hard to say. They are used frequently in chronic pain to reduce opioid consumption though.

According to the neurologist, Gaba and Lyrica are both very effective at treating Muscular Dystrophy pain. According to the Neurologist the Skeleton muscles, the nerves, the bones and main muscles are all affected by this disease. That Gaba and Lyrica help with the nerve pain mostly. The side effects scare me and both are very highly addictive. This is why I want to try and go on Medical CBD oil.

oh ffs, twice a year I venture outside the "general anime"-forum and this is what I see. My best wishes, Shadow Skill, hope you can successfully slow down any effects and live as normal as possible!

Fwiw I've been thinking about the topic of life spans and the end of it a lot in the past years and my recent issues with my right eye where I at times go quasi-blind for a couple days until it regenerates, have made me think about it again. It's so weird: when you're healthy, you don't spend any or much worry, even when without any diseases, we still have a limited life span. Like, someone who gets diagnosed with something severe and knows "ah, only 15 years to go" is technically no different from someone who has no disease but ALSO dies in 15 years at the same age. But the former will worry constantly as if there's a countdown displayed in front of him at any given time.

I've come to realize one thing at least, and that is: life is about having fun. So whether we live to 120 years or die at 30, the outcome will be the same, but the way there is what we can decide. In that sense: I wish you and all of us a lot of good anime to come in the upcoming years ^^
