This like cute petite 40+ (guess) year old lady got on the bus today, and when she turned to sit down, she had this big round butt. Made my day and made me smile because I was totally not expecting that.

Seeing Diversity win Britain's Got Talent 2009 put a huge smile on my face. They're my favourite by far. The diverse ages really works to their advantage, giving their performance variety, compared to an otherwise equally good dance troupe Flawless.
As said by the judges, the choreography was superb.

So, I'd been growing a potato in an admittedly undersized pot (6 inches / 15cm diameter). About a week ago the plant started to die. I didn't know exactly how much water they needed, almost every day is apparently not enough (only neglecting to water when I forgot).
So I ripped it up today to see if anything had grown. To no real surprise, the entire thing was pot bound. But deep inside were these:

Hmm... Even the computer hardware shop that's nearest to me (quite a good shop, though; I've been getting stuff from there lately) seems to be selling that particular drive. You must have had bad luck if you needed to go out of your way to get it. An interesting drive in any case and certainly the price isn't ruining it. HD noises have always bothered me most of all computer noises (aside from worn-out fans). Gotta keep this product line in mind in the future.

The one most convenient for me doesn't stock Samsung HDDs though, and the one next closest only had the older EcoGreen F1 models when I checked, which used 333MB density platters rather than 500MB.

I find it really weird that you'd have trouble remembering that, since Dennis the Menace is a character who's so deeply ingrained in US pop culture.
There's also a British version of Dennis the Menace: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBC7vqhOyDM, though it's completely unrelated to the American one.

I received my 30mW green laser pointer in the mail today. It's amazingly bright, especially at night. The beam is visible and it supposedly has a range of a few kilometers. I tried shining it in my neighborhood, and everything it hits lights up with an extremely bright patch of green. For only $20 CAD, I'm more than satisfied. The build quality is superb for something this cheap.
Kraco
Sat, 06-20-2009, 04:08 AM
I'm absolutely sure something like that isn't even allowed over here. I think the limit is 5mW if not even less these days for any laser pointers. If I ordered a pointer like that from the USA, I'd run a high risk of losing it at the customs, no doubt.
Kind of a pity, but on the other hand there are enough idiots around who would use them against people (which is of course precisely why the nanny state won't allow them).

Dinner made me smile today. I woke up this morning and made a rib rub. Then I meticulously trimmed the fat from the spare ribs that my wife bought yesterday. After I seasoned my spare ribs with my rib rub, I spent about four-and-a-half hours grilling. Another thirty minutes basting completed the task. I don't want to seem like a cynical a-hole, but really she'd have been happier if he had given her $100US and left. The Vietnamese in the old country are very pragmatic, and the emotional significance of gestures like this is lost on them. However, $100 is about 4 months of what she earns in wages.

I went out to buy SF4 for pc today, I actually wanted to buy it yesterday, but I was looking at the box and was like "nah I'll buy it tomorrow" then I went to see a movie ( ice age 3).
But anyway, I went to get it today, and I paid for it and the other stuff I got. But then I got outside and I wanted to put the receipt in the game case ( something I always do), only then I noticed I only paid 36 euros instead of ~60.
Somehow when she scanned the game, she scanned the wrong bar code ( I guess ) and it registered as unknown item, so I just paid for the other stuff.
I think she noticed it though, cause I was asking her about some other item, which made her make a call about it and she was definitly looking at the screen then.
But the line was long and the store was pretty much closed, so I'm geussing she just didn't care and proceeded to scan the other stuff, let me pay and leave.
This made me smile cause it wouldn't have happened if I bought it yesterday :D,
And no I didn't notice the price cause I never pay attention to it when I go to that store, I just use my ATM (debit?) card, dial in the PIN and press ok then leave. Plus I have my headphones on all the time so I don't hear them when they tell me what the price is.
Still pretty lucky ;P, FREE SF4.

A few months back I was on a first dinner date with my ex (@ the time she was my girl) at PF Changs. It was a random night, nothing special or a special reason. While we were being seated, (again randomly) I froze and my girlfriend asked me what was wrong. I laughed and said, there's a girl over there that I know, She kept pestering me because I was laughing and asked me why. Turns out that I was sitting in direct view and angle of a girl I had a huge crush in high school and never asked out. It was really awkward for the both of us. The other girl was on a big family birthday thing for one of her aunts. But she was sitting directly in my view, the whole night. It was pretty nice actually. My last gf was a pretty decent chick, but this girl put her to shame physically. And my ex was 19 and I'm 24. After a while it was gross. The reason I'm happy is because our break up was pretty nice and clean, but I pretty much look at the whole experience as being half assed. Just two days ago, in a row, I saw her at two different stores. This is was a week after my break up from my ex.
I'm happy because I feel like I finally listened to gods simple obvious signs and asked her out.

It's weird but the best place I've ever had Chinese are these two restaurants in Vernal, Utah, at the time a city of about 11,000 in northwest Utah. One was a buffet and the other a typical restaurant. Both were run by Chinese families. They had decent prices and excellent food, maybe the best Chinese restaurants I've ever been to, and I'm from Houston where there's a thousand restaurants. I've been meaning to visit that middle-of-nowhere shit town just to eat at these restaurants again.
Well hopefully things work out with your new gf. Will you take her to a nicer restaurant than PFC's?

Went to a sweet bbq/house party in the OC and ate way too much delicious food, swung by a rooftop party at a ritzy hotel during the fireworks in Hollywood, then enjoyed a hot cappuccino and watched kung fu panda in a jacuzzi on the roof of a very swanky house overlooking LA.

In the US, you're lucky if your parents teach you how to count and spell and stay out of the street. Cooking is a definite luxury, and you're extremely lucky if your parents even know how to cook, much more so if they teach you how to cook.

I've tried other Italian recipes and they didn't have that magic, and eating at Olive Garden has been hit and miss. Even some recipes from Giada weren't that good, but overall her recipes have served me best.

Well, I know how to cook a few good tasting meals. I know how to eat healthy, decent-tasting meals. This book gives you over 100 recipes designed by gourmet chefs and a professional nutritionist. It lists the nutritional value of every meal as well as categorizing them into when they should be eaten during the day. It's not really an ordinary cook book.
Hmm, looks interesting. Please use it a month and report back if it's worth the $40.
Yeah, the price thing is what kept me from buying it sooner. Really, it could be sold for half if it wasn't printed in color and on such nice paper. Thankfully my birthday was recent, so I asked for it. I'll experiment with a few of the recipes and I might post some of them in the Health thread we got up in here.
If I had to sell you on it, Ani, I'd mention that it's got 5 different oatmeal recipes. IIRC, cooking your oatmeal was a point of concern a while ago. So instead of mixing just protein powder and dealing with that, you could have "Banana Cream Pie Oatmeal" or "Chai Blueberry Oatmeal".

There's a hole or gap somewhere in the window trim where wasps are squeezing their way into my room from outside. I'll look over at the window and see a great hairy wasp walking around and it freaks me out (childhood trauma concerning wasps that has be scared of them to this day).

They do this bit on one of the morning radio shows where they have women call in who have dead-beat dads that don't pay child support... anyhow, they call and pretend they're going to win something if they answer 3 questions right and the third question is always "why don't you pay child support?"
They told this guy he'd win 3 UFC 103 tickets here in dallas if he won and he was super excited at that point lol...but the funny part was when they revealed themselves. This guy got so pissed and the radio host kept telling him he was going to have sex with his wife, and take the kids to the park to play....
You'd probably have to hear it to realize how funny it was. This guy was so steaming mad and the host kept saying "alright dude... well, i'm going to send your wife to cancun and i'm even going to go so i can have sex with your wife " *angy guy"i'm gonna #$@(ing rip your throat out!!!!" *radio host "before, or after i have sex with you wife?!"

It was sort of fun seeing them get the wires stuck in the trees while working on it, the terrain is filled with small hills, with water on all sides plus trees in random places so I can imagine it being quite difficult. It was sunny though(which is rare here) so I don't think they disliked it much. I think they were stretching them for 500-600 meters so it must have taken a while. I went to get a monster from 7-11 and they had 3 new ones... I was intrigued so I got one. Had me pretty jacked up most of the day. I really think they should do all of their other drinks in a 12oz re-sealable can like that and do away w\ the 16oz cans.

ISP came out with new plans and upgraded me from 72GB/month to 75GB/month quota at no cost. It's not that big a difference when you look at it like that, but it's actually broken down into offpeak and peak quotas:
Offpeak: 2am-12pm = 60GB
Peak: 12pm-2am = 15GB (was 12GB)
In that regard, a 25% increase in the quota that I'd actually have a reasonable probability of breaking makes me smile.

Camping.
It kicks ass, especially when you are wedged inside of a tent normally made for two children.
And you also feel more hardcore than the people with A/C campers/caravans/trailers and satellite television.

So how was living with a female in a platonic relationship? I'm thinking of getting a roommate and I'd prefer it's a female, but I'm sure there's a downside to that arrangement.

So a live-in gf? Was it like being married?
If I seem overly-curious it's because I just got a house and I'm thinking of getting a female roommate. I think a female would be more respectful of the place and my stuff and just cleaner in general. The only issue would be if she brought her dirt-bag boyfriend over, if she has a bf.

Gonna give Animeniax the benefit of the doubt and assume his new dog isn't housebroken yet, and/or the cage is just a way of establishing the dog's "territory" in a new apartment.
Animeniax
Thu, 08-20-2009, 06:32 AM
Yeah that's what's going on. It's called "crating" the dog. He's already house-trained and well-trained in general, though a bit feisty and tries to dominate (I thought it was the pit bull side of him but it turns out it might be the shar-pei side, go figure).
The folks at the shelter recommended keeping him crated until he's acclimated to his new home. I'd rather let him roam free in the backyard, but they recommended against that for some reason. He seems a lot happier in the backyard, but maybe he'll try to escape, though that doesn't seem likely since he seems very loyal and even dependent on his owner.
My first dog by the way, so it's almost like having a first child. Lots to learn and experience.

Surely you're not too old to hit on college girls without it seeming creepy, Animeniax. The clock is ticking, take advantage while you can.
Just found out that the band I'm in is opening for Peelander Z in a month.
I'd never heard of them before now, but apparently they're kind of big? In any case they look absolutely insane. A Japanese punk rock band with Sentai themed costumes and names:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=56539873
Even if we suck I'm so looking forward to that, if only to see them perform.

Oh man, I gotta see that. Details on the date and time of the performance please. Of course, first midterms will be in about a month, so it's doubtful, but I'm looking for a reason to make a trip to Houston.
Oh, and since I have no game and suck at being charming or witty, hitting on cute girls isn't my thing. I need a context in which to work. Luckily I have that since there are cute girls in my classes, but since these are computer science classes, the cute girls will get plenty of attention from all the geeks in the classes. And it's a major turn-off watching the cute girls sling it around in hopes of getting tutoring or homework help from the geeks.

Okay, I have put bottle of hand sanitizer all over the office and a few masks in the kitchen. If you come to work with a fever you will need to wear a mask or go home. It’s only fair to the rest of us that would rather not get what you have. Please everyone use the sanitizers. And if you aren’t sick and would like to wear a mask just in case, you are welcome to.

When I went to buy some hydrocortisone from a pharmacy today, there was a paper taped to the door telling that people who feel like they might have swine flu should first ring the staff door's doorbell to receive a mask, and only then enter the store.
You see the hand sanitizers indeed all over the town but that was the first time I've seen a pharmacy taking such precautions. I suppose it makes sense, though.

She comes with two different left hands, one which has a hole for for attaching her sheath, as well as Caliburn and Excalibur (which fits in the sheath if you want it to be).
Superb detailing and awesome paintjob. There are actually four different layers to her dress, each molded individually. I didn't realise how big it was until it arrived.
Only 2 bitches are:
1) Her hole in her right hand is too small so I didn't force mine in. Caliburn's handle is thinner towards the pommel than Excalibur's is, so that one can fit. I don't know if this problem was just mine, or if it is more wide-spread.
2) I don't know what the regulations are regarding parcel delivery, but the postman literally just left 9000 Yen on my doorstep for the taking. I knew SAL didn't have tracking, but if this is also part of the cheaper deal, I will seriously consider shipping via EMS exclusively from now on.

Today I went to the shooting range. Apparently every Friday night is ladies night there, so women get free admission and only have to pay for ammo and targets. Despite growing up on a farm, I'd never actually shot a gun before. It was a little bit scary at first, but once you get into it, it's kinda like a high-powered video game. Great fun! I tried out 4 different guns (all 9mm's), and was surprised at how big of a difference there was between them. I'm looking forward to the next girls night out at the shooting range to try some different types of guns.
