One Piece Manga Discussion: Scanlation/Translated Only

Cipher Phol is the WG intelligence agency directed by Spandam. There is supposed to be only 8 cells but secretly there is a 9th one which is of course CP9.

CP9 is a secret assasination squad who have mastered the martial art Rokushiki or "six style". They are composed of eight members who are Lucchi, Kaku, Jyabura, Kalifa, Blueno, Nero(Lucchi killed him for failing to beat Franky and for not completely mastering Rokushiki so there are actually seven member), Fukurou, and Kumadori. The moves they mastered are:

Tekkai(Iron mass)

Shigan(finger gun)

Geppou(moon walk)

Kami-e(paper picture)

Rankyaku(Storm leg)

Soru(Shave)

Was flipping through some previous chapters, and i came upon the one where Calipha and Kaku ate the devil's fruit. Honestly, I think this is what's gonna kill those two. They have absolutely no idea what their new powers will be, and no time to test it out to find out it's weaknesses. Their opponent's gonna figure it out before them and waste'em.

Personally I believe that should be changed. Why because even after the RAW is translated only a handfull of people bother to post in here. With RAW thrown in the mix we might discuss/predict and make some wild theories to get some kind of discussion going. No, it's not you. AP is the One Piece haven especially for the manga, no doubt about it. The anime section doesn't even get much posts.

And we shouldn't do another thread just for raws. Good translations for the Raws come out pretty quickly so yeah, I don't see why do we only have to discuss the scanlated manga. When a raw comes out, just add a link to a translation and we're all good.

Sorry, but your theory is very flawed... even before I created this thread, manga discussion for OP was lacking... Heck, that's the whole point I created this thread, just so that the forum didn't get cluttered with shitty manga chapter discussions with 5 posts or so...

And I created this thread to my own liking, so just deal with it... Another thread like you say may be an option, but I don't find it necessary... you'll see just about the same discussion that is going in this thread... You just have to realize that Gotwoot is a very small community and One Piece is not very popular in here.

Hehe, I really liked the part when the crewmates just shot out in anger like Luffy usually does when they first looked extremely hurt. Franky's dialouge of "You guys are so weird" is both hilarious and so true.

And I know it's not just me. Oda has to tone down Nami's nose a bit. In fact, he's being enlarging her every body part. Huge breasts, huge legs, huge head, huge feet(though not anymore) and now a huge nose to go with it.

Finally caught up, just read from 398, this has been a great few chapters.

Robin's past was awesome, got to see some good things, and some other characters we've seen.

I absolutely love this chapter. It feels so good to take a break from all the seriousness that has been going on and come back to pure comedy.

That battle was hilarious. I was laughing the whole time. My favorite part has to be when Chopper was giving the drinks. The tea one was especially funny.

I guess it looks like Chopper won't be fighting anymore now that his three minutes are up. Maybe Franky who's completely charged up might take him on now that he took down Fukurou or who knows, maybe Sanji.

I don't know where Lucchi's and Luffy's fight is going to go. Nami's and Zoro/Usopp's fight haven't finished yet. It looks to be too soon for Luffy to fight Lucchi. We'll see what happens I guess. And I'm betting that Nami's fight will end next chapter.

Nice chapter, Nami is coming along nicely as a fighter as well. This ability is perfect for her, as it's believable that she is able to do these things.

I've realized after adventuring through the posts over at Arlong Park that the bias (bias? amount of concern, perhaps...) I feel towards characters really differs from a large population of posters on that forum. Most of them were getting heated up over Ussop or Sanji, and here I am thinking that "Leave it to luck!" is such a great line from Nami or Zoro. It's nice to see Robin taking some active effort to free herself too, even though she's unsuccessful so far.

Sanji also has a move that can rival a devil fruit power, although he was up there anyway, but now this new technique is good. I like how Zoro, Sanji and Nami don't have devil fruit abilities, but can beat people who have, I hope they don't get devil fruit abilities, it would be better if they don't but can gain some new techniques.

Definitely plausible. And to continue with the same villains for a little bit with yet another long arc somewhere down the line is something that wouldn't be a surprise, given the mangaka's storytelling style. Besides, the CP9 guys as the main villains for a while isn't a bad thing either :cool:

The Pirate Summit is not an actual location as many people confuse it to be. It was a statement said by Ace to Luffy. He told him to "reach the top" as in reach the top in Piracy. Reach Whitebeard's level.

Take for example a boxing champion who says to this promising rookie "see you at the top". He's not referring to an actual location but to reach his (the champion) level or his rank.

So yeah. After this Luffy is in fact really close to reaching the Pirate's Summit.

The Pirate's Summit - For a long time, I also thought that this referred to some sort of meeting ground, but then I read later from a couple translators that this referred to "reaching the top," like Deblas has said. Personally I'm still a bit doubtful towards dismissing possible inserted bias or liberties that the translators have taken there, but I'm still inclined to believe the metaphorical translation anyways.

There really is no end in sight for One Piece if Oda intends to tell his story without time jumps. However, the consequences of Luffy & co.'s actions at Enies Lobby combined with Luffy's will to become strong enough to protect his crew sets them up to be catapulted upwards into strong, high-profile pirates. If Luffy is far from "reaching the summit" now, his pace towards it should only increase from here.

I'm actually really dissapointed that Merry is back. I'm gonna reserve my judgement till the end when we find out just what is going to happen to the ship but after four shipwrights who said that there is no way to repair it, I'll be really ticked off if Merry magically repaired itself.

Thing is that there is no way to repair the keel. The keel is the foundation for the ship. If it breaks or is removed the whole ship collapses. Even Franky who was raised by Tom said so and the Klabauterman was just able to do a touch up job on itself, not fully repair his damages.

Also, how the little broken ship was able to reach EL shortly after Rocketman and make it through Aqua Laguna is beyond me.

Yeah, I agree with you, I don't like how it is back, hopefully it's the last thing it does.

Agreed. I want it to go kamikaze on the BC ships so they can escape, or to get them back to Water 7 and collapse. As much as I like Merry, it would be too unrealistic if the best shipwrights in the world couldn't fix it but pure "love" could (given this is a manga).

Umm where did Oda say that a member was going to be lost? Also, I'm guessing he was referring to Usopp who left the mugiwara pirates, he's fighting with them but technically he isn't a "team member" any more.

It was in one of the threads. Can't remember which one. There's a magazine article someone posted about people asking Oda all kinds of funny questions, like is Robin's or Nami's boobs are bigger and some shit.. And he said something about the Water7 arc that we'll lose one member. The article was before even Water7 arc started. Don't know if he's still serious about that though. :confused:

Btw, I kinda like the fact of the Klabauterman. Or the spirit of the ship. Gives a very awesome feeling to the ship. Like it's the Black Pearl. Everyone knows it, and if they ever see it, the know it's the last thing they'll see. :p Except Luffy's ship is nice and cute with the orange tree's on it.

What makes you think it was shortly? I'd say it has been quite a while since they arrived. I mean, how long do you think it would take the Buster Call to arrive? And I'm pretty sure that whenever Merry was sent here it started to sail before the Buster Call was called upon.

From the time they reached EL up until now I say no more than one hour and a half has passed and from W7 to EL would be give or take an hour with Rocketman's speed. I guess Merry didnt reach EL shortly after Rocketman since we have no proof of it but still, it looks to be impossible for Merry to reach EL at that time.

It's all just speculation though. We don't really know how much it took them to reach EL and win all of their fights.
