I'm also quite interested in seeing what happens with Galatea. The point about her still using her yoki to fight slipped my mind - that certainly makes her incompatible with the 7 if they're going for any sort of stealth approach.
I like the way this fight played out. It's pretty much a clue-in to how Riful can be defeated, since her "outer form" is probably just a larger, tougher, and more powerful version of Agatha. Before, it was like "okay she's just this mass of wires, how do you kill her?"
I see absolutely no issue with Galatea joining the 7. Tabitha uses nearly exactly the same techniques in sensing her opponents, and she uses zero Yoki just like the other 7. In that same way, the only reason Galatea could be found at all was because Miata never uses Yoki, she instinctually finds her opponents. She functions and fights by sensing Yoki, but the only technique requiring her to use a little Yoki is the "nudge" she used against Duff. However, that usually only works on the lowest denominator (or in Duff's case, the dumbest) of Awakened Beings and regular Yoma. Agatha thwarted the ability fairly easily. Tabitha is good, but even she can't compare to the God Eye. Galatea would be welcomed into the 7, she just wouldn't be able to know that any of them are there :p
As for Riful, she and Agatha are nowhere near the same structurally. Agatha was a body with demonic hair that she coiled and coiled into her little platform, and her quote-unquote, "true form." As this chapter illustrated, Agatha actually had a human-shapely...err...shaped body. Riful's true form is exactly what Agatha was pretending to be, all ribbons. I suspect from the attack of 3 and 5 (of Clarice/Miata's generation) revealed the total extent of Riful's body. "Riful" exists in all portions of her ribbon-like body, and you'd have to destroy it all at once to actually hurt her. She mentioned something towards that effect. If the two had followed-up, they might have wounded her a tiny bit.
Something like Clare's Awakened form, under her total control, and slashing with her Flash Sword techniques, but using bladed arms long enough to compare to Riful in size would probably kill her.

Regarding galatea....its a long shot, but she could also join the 7 and act in a support capacity. While her ability to influence the flow of yoki wouldn't work on AB's (not yet atleast...its still possible that with training she could increase that, just like the 7 increased thier abilities), it can still be useful to her comrades.
Rite now, the biggest problem for claire/miria/deneve/helen is that if they use too much yoki, they could go over the limit anytime. However we've seen galatea use her ability to pull clare back from the edge. It is possible that she could do the same for the others, especially if she trained and got stronger, and be a sort of safety net, allowing them to push thier limits and go a little crazy if the situation requires.
Btw, is Isely still alive? he was wounded during the battle with luciana or whatever, but i forget what happened afterwards.

Isley was badly wounded which was a part of Riful and the other Abyssals plan, Riful had planned to finish the job, but when she realized that Priscilla was stronger than Isley she had no choice but to retreat making it possible for Isley to take care of his wounds.
I don't know much about the others, but for some reason I'm not worried about Clare, she seems to know exactly where her limit is... I mean, the only reason she went as far as she did with the Lion king was because it was the worst possible situation.
Otherwise she has gone over the limits at least 4 times without any problems. When she met Raphaela before losing her arm, in order to heal her legs. When she healed her leg in order to save Galatea...... and so on.
The other cards though, are a bit more uncertain.

Galatea would be welcomed into the 7, she just wouldn't be able to know that any of them are there :p Galatea has been suppressing her yoki for a long time because she's been hiding in Rabona, but she used some this fight - isn't that similar to Ilena's situation? She also got her body punctured and arm ripped off, so she'll need to use yoki to heal it if she hasn't already. Whoever is the Organization's regular "eye" should be able to find her.

The first time we see her, Alicia says she grasped the "outer layer," then makes an estimation based on that. Recently, she was still holding back against #3 and #5. Even so, I agree that it's possible that holding back her power might not necessarily mean a transformation in the way her body operates, but I felt that the author set up Agatha as a precedent for how Riful could be handled.

I see what you are referring to about the "outer layer," and that does support your point. But, if you want to play with Alicia's words, something else she says supports my hypothesis. She follows the statement you quoted with "I would be able to destroy 50% of her body before [being killed]." (I forget the exact wording of the end, but it is to that effect.)
As for Galatea, The "Eyes" of the Organization can only see so far. If they are not close, say 10 miles judging from the first scenes we see Galatea, they wouldn't be able to sense her. If what we understand about the handlers of the Organization discussing Galatea's betrayal and the rise of the new "Eye," Galatea was one of the exceptions with her range. Tabitha has shown she can have the same level of detail, but the extreme range seemed to be a rarity even among the "eyes."

I thought the reason Clare and the others did not go over their limit was due to their mental strength. During the Fight in the North, they all used their Youki to the max and Clare and Deneve, even went past (Rather, to their new limit) their Youki limit. I don't think them surviving this long without awakening has to do with them not using their Youki. When Clare had to kill her friend at the beginning, that was due to her friend recklessly using her Youki, A.K.A going to her limits and maybe slightly over. As clare noticed, a great deal of mental strength can keep your conscious mind human as an awakened being, Jean being the example here. Clare pulling her back from her awaked form...
The 2 soldiers recognized Clare right away, as did Galatea.
I still think each time they approach their limit or go slightly past it then back to normal again. They are given a new limit and part of that power carries with them to their normal state. Maybe it's just Clare since she's 1/4 Teresa and 3/4 Human. I could be wrong here. :P

You're right, but why take chances? Clare didn't make it last time, and only Jean's final dying effort saved her. The Slashers still have no idea what has really happened, or how it works. They could fully Awaken at any time.

I don't think anyone actully read that translation before typesetting it...
Anyway Miria's revelation was something that has been suspected for a while, but I'm surprised she knew that much yet never bothered to share before. I hope Galatea and Clarice (just for Chibi Monster) will join up. Them vs Alicia and Beth or Isley and Priscilla would be awesome to see.

Sun, 05-04-2008, 01:37 PM
I groaned a bit when I heard Miria's explanation that yoma were from "some other world." Not another twisted sci-fi plot made to look like a fantasy series....
...But luckily they saved it by saying their "world" was a huge island set some distance off the mainland. Not only does it make a lot more sense, it's a far more interesting plot. Colossal-scale experiments are always a plus in my book.
I have to wonder how much of this Isley and Riful know about. Or do they even care?
Augury
Sun, 05-04-2008, 01:53 PM
I doubt Isley is knows, since he was rather happy about making Priscilla the dominant power. Riful might be clued in depending on what she wanted a Yoma-sensing ally for.
On another note, it seems less likely now that the band of seven are going to lose any members anytime soon. Cynthia was the prime target but now that she's fallen into a "healer" role she's more defined.
The translation... I think the combination of a two-month wait and Golden Week blacking out releases from most other series brought about such a high level of manga withdrawal from fans that even the scanlation team busted this thing out in half a day, damn the QA.

The translation on the version from MT is really awkward...doesn't flow at all. It actually makes it really hard to follow some of Miria's speech. The rest is much better.
I have to assume the young girl with Raki is Priscilla...but unless Raki got as tall as Duff, it just doesn't seem like her. I don't think she was that short.
I wonder if they are hunting Riful. Why else would they be headed west?

good chapter...alot of information given, though quite a bit was things we already knew. But still, a fun chapter. Raki's fight at the end was also nice..i like his character design.
Its hard to tell with the black and white, but does raki have silver hair now? it seems that way, which would suggest he's a claymore as well. he is wielding a claymore (sword), and can hold his own against yoma.
As for the little girl, it probably is priscilla, unless he found someone else in the 7 years he was with Aisley. But that brings up another question....if he's been with aisley and priscilla that long, he has to know who/what they are. So did he just accept this, or has he been kept in the dark all this time....aisley wouldn't tell him and teach him and let him live all this time unless he had a plan for him. Or maybe its just for pricsilla's sake.

Well, Miria's intel clearly changed the idea of good and bad related to the claymore world.
Aisley may well be the one to give new balance to this world and needs Miria, Claire and the others for that goal. Raki probably is the link needed to make it possible.
We felt it before, but more and more the Organisation is the true evil to be fought... because they use that land only for test purposes and do not care about population there.

If you compare clair/deneve/miria's and so on hair, they're drawn in pure white.
Clarice and Raki have color in them.
So Raki may not be a claymore male, or he is a very little percentage like Clarice could be?
I repeat myself, but Raki could well be an experiment made by Isley.
I do not think he could be so quick with pure training and no devil blood, although is armor seems to be very though.
As for his sword, it is different from a claymore in shape, so it's hard to tell the specs of it. Good enough to cut a youma, but is it as heavy as a Claymore?
Should Raki have some yoma blood, he could be after much power-ups the caliber of Claire, or become the ideal fighter, being able to go on the verge of awakening and be able to turn back.
We'll see.

I expect the reaction would have been very different from the townspeople if Raki had any yoma parts in him. They were saying things like, "He's just a man, and he defeated yoma without being a Claymore. OMGZ!" and the yoma itself obviously sensed no Yoki out of him with the line, "It's as if he is a Claymore."
Not to mention that Raki used the little girl to point out the yoma. If he had any Yoki from anything, he'd have been able to tell on his own.
Isely just trained the hell out of him, and Raki developed armor and sword fighting methods from that training that would allow him to win every time.

Well he does have blonde/silver hair now so he is a part Claymore. Unless they had good hair dyes. Training with Easley also means that he could have leanred how to hide his Yoki. Thats why it didn't sense anything from him.....still I think he has Riful with him.

Well he does have blonde/silver hair now so he is a part Claymore.Bullshit. There's no way to tell. But go back and read chapter 1. Raki's hair has always been shaded that way in the manga. The base near his neck was slightly darker, but when his hair was drawn a little longer in the later volumes, there was the same shading on it there is now.
He's friends with Isely and Priscilla. If anything, whoever he is with is hunting Riful.
We also don't know if Priscilla is capable of making herself appear that young, as Riful does. There is not a certainty to what happens when an Awakened reverts to their human form. We don't know if they can control it completely, or they simply revert back to their form before they became a full-fledged Claymore.

@Ryl the one that was on MT was apparently Jap -> Chinese -> English I replaced it with 10sigh's.
Found a great speculation on the DigitalPanic forum, that the little girl is actually Easley and Priscilla's demon spawn. The creepiness/awesomeness of this appeals to me so I'm hoping that's exactly who she is.
I'm still disliking Raki because he still seems to have the same stupid attitude hiding beneath the surface, however now that he seems to have the juice to actually back up his words I may warm up to him some. But I've heard some speculation that it may be his armor that is some how doing the extra work for him. I'm not sure I believe that, but anything seems possible at this point.

the armor could be special in some way...it definately not something you can pick up at the local armor shop id imagine. It seems to be made specifically for him, and for the purpose of fighting yoma. The sword as well, like David mentioned, is slightly different from a claymore. its big, but not quite as big (seems that way to me atleast), and is probably lighter then a normal claymore.
As for the little girl being a demon spawn theory, i like it, but we've never seen anything to suggest mating is possible for AB's. Though since they' used to be human, i guess we can't count it out either.

It looks like armor and sword are made from same material as claymore's but I wander who made it for him as sword didn't had a name/marking on it so he didn't just picked it up somewhere. As far as Raki being a demon, he could be on those special drugs that limits his yoki.
Ryllharu
Sat, 06-07-2008, 02:41 PM
Why be on the drugs? He knows all the advantages of Yoki (as Clare has explained during her travels with him), and all the disadvantages of being on the pills. The pills make the Claymores dramatically weaker (learned the first time Clare was in the Holy City during her battle).
Perhaps his armor has all the various plates on it to not only maintain full mobility, while redirecting most of the force of attacks away from him. The yoma's fingers glanced off his bracers, and the shoulder plates look like they are the same. But Claymore armor is still just regular light plate, Clare has broken hers how many times, and usually just gets a replacement from her handler.
I think if anything, Raki's Greatsword is heavier than a Claymore's blade. Miria and others were just commenting that their blades seem to be of a material that never requires sharpening, and is far lighter than it should be. Unless Isely knows how to obtain that material, I'd wager it is far more like Guts' Dragonslayer from Berserk, but not quite as awesomely/ridiculously huge.

I'm stretching the idea a little, but this equipment could be the one Isley had prior to becoming an AB.
That could explain the special alloy and probably sword.
We now know that there's a faraway land were claymores, and probably armors are built.
Isley probably had some, gave them to Raki after a long training.

I think the little girl is actually Raki's child with Priscilla, even though he denied it. We know Priscilla likes to sneak into bed with Raki. With him going thru puberty and with his hormones raging, things are bound to happen. I also think that the little girl is the secret weapon the organization is looking for, a warrior that can completely awaken and revert back.

Deathstorke, Raki said she isn't his, and I believe him. it doesn't fit the plot very well.
I think that the kid is a version of the claymore orginazation men, like rubel and co. they seem to be able to point out claymores without actually sensing them, or something.
Maybe Isely is trying to build up his own claymore team, and Raki is the first experiment, he wants Raki to be close enough to yomas so that doesn't go completly nuts when using his powers. maybe the armor is made out of claymore\yoma seastone that stops him using his powers. maybe he's on the pill.
lots of options.
however, I think that Raki is quite weak, despite his current showoff. he sneaked up on his enemy, and still needed four swings to kill, and the yoma didn't even fight back until falling to the black knight state (no arm, no legs), he's gonna be in real shit when he fights a claymore, or a decent yoma who's prepared to see him.

Im sure we didn't get a 'holy shit' introduction to Raki v2 just to have him be a panzy in a real fight.....it seems like a given that he'll have developed enough to handle himself against any yoma, in any situation (probably not AB's yet though).
Now that he's been introduced, they mite focus on him for a while, as it seems the Claymore storyline is at a hault....or atleast its a good place for a hault. Its not hard to see Raki getting stonger, possibly in the same way as the other claymores, by learning better techniques in his travels.

Raki can handle Yomas but not ABs, which means he is still practically useless.
I doubt there is anything special about his current skill. It seems to be just the results of his training for 7 years, which is not hard to believe at all if your master is an abyssal one.
I am still hoping that he is forced to become a claymore, but manages to control it like the females do, becoming the first male claymore that does not go AB. Only in that manner can he fulfill the objectives of his training, which is to assist Clare (who is now freakishly strong).
EDIT: and about the reason for heading west... I doubt its for hunting Riful, since it was explicitly mentioned that Raki is backtracking his journey with Clare from before in order to find her.
Also, is the look on Clare's face when she finds out Raki may have a kid a look of jealousy/disappointment?

Claymore c81 - [Whatever] (http://whatever.lifenotfound.net/The%20thing/Claymore_Ch081%5bWhatever%5d.rar)
I can't trust FH after their last Claymore. Anyway a properly translated version is so much better.
It's really sad that Riful couldn't catch a worthy candidate after so many years. Hopefully she'll manage to turn Rene just so her story can advance.
As to Priscilla, if she's resisting the urge to eat I really hope they don't pull the anime ending out and have her not be fully awakened or something. It seems pretty unlikely but shittier things have happened to good manga.

Damnit Yuki, I haven't finished the anime yet you piece of shit!!!!!!!!
Lol, for some reason I've been hesitant to finish the anime... maybe I should. Should I? Last episode I saw Clare was kicking Rigardo's ass.
Anyways, it was obvious it was going to be Priscilla with him. Glad to see Riful, and this Rene chick seems cool. More and more I start to think that at some point Riful and Clare will work together.
Is [Whatever] better by the way? I didn't try them when they came out because I thought it was some random shitty speedsub.

I'm probably doing you a favor Bud, after the manga faithful eps with Rigardo the anime diverges and becomes an utterly crappy action anime 'resolution' that doesn't actually resolve anything, but at the same time kills any real hope that the true story can ever be brought onto video. Think Hellsing TV, just with all the fake nonsense packed into the last 4 eps instead of half the series.
As to Whatever they have really good cleaners (they do very clean D.Gray-man and Gantz releases) however sometimes their typesetting is a bit too small, but this seems to vary between releases. The typesetting, translation, and cleaning were all better than the garbage I posted earlier but I can't speak to whether they were better than FH's.
@topic:
Riful has been looking for someone good at sensing all this time, and it seems Rene is good enough for whatever it is she has in mind. Chances are she'll try to force her to awaken, and hopefully then recruit her into whatever nefarious scheme she's got cooking.

When Riful met up with Clare again, it did not seem like she cared whether Clare was fully Awakened or not, Riful would take her in. It's true that Clare is an exception being semi-Awakened already, but it seemed like Riful had switched her priorities from the first time we met her.
Before she was building an army of Awakeneds to combat with Isley's troops. After she came into contact with Priscilla, her strategy changed. She was looking for those good at sensing yoki. Clare and Galatea were the ideal in her mind. (She'd take Tabitha if she knew about her too).
Would Awakening Rene fully hurt Rene's ability to sense yoki? She specializes in speed rather than sensing.
...or perhaps she is back to wanting really strong Awakeneds loyal to her.

Mon, 07-07-2008, 09:43 AM
I finally gave in and gave up the idea of a decent anime sequel for this and read the manga.
I think Riful is still trying to find someone with good sensing abilities, and I don't think awakening would hurt such an ability, but rather improve it. If I remember correctly, it was Clare's inexperience before that forced her to lower her own Youki to improve sensing. Even if Rene is mainly speed, her other characteristics should not deteriorate with awakening.
Tabitha is probably the best candidate for Riful. Great sensing, with half the arrogance/willfulness/stubbornness of Galatea and Clare.

I liked this one, pretty much nothing happened but character development and plot revelations yet it was still quite enjoyable. With the new revelation about them main land I don't see what purpose Raphcilla would serve unless he's planning to to let Riful and her pets duke it out with Isely while the band of seven takes on the organization. How Clare and Raki will fit in is pretty much up for grabs but I'm pretty sure Clare and Raki will cross swords at least once when she realizes who he's traveling with.

Rene, Galatea and Teresa.
Though Teresa was never an "Eye." She had less range than Galatea, but her sensitivity was astronomically higher. In the Organization, the Eye serves as an observer and a scout. Teresa was their #1, sent on the hardest missions.
Galatea was highly ranked due to her side ability of deflecting/manipulating Yoki within a foreign body.

Cynthia throws her Claymore at the AB to cut its wings. I guess Clare caught it then.
The second time we see Clare with both claymores, Cynthia is behind and we do not see her claymore as with Yuma, although we see her tighs.
So Rubel isn't afraid of coming here, in beetween 3 uber claymores.
He's so confident nothing can happen to him it seems...
And from the little data we have on how the land is composed, I guess the org really isn't meant to protect humans. Their just another groupe seeking the uber warrior. Humans are just livestock...

Cynthia is the Seven's Eye, and Yuma was just the weakest surviving warrior of the Battle of the North (since Clare was far stronger than her rank at the time). Her purpose was finally shown. She realized how much stronger she is now, so compare her to the others where the gap hasn't shortened and we get the idea of what kind of monsters Clare and the others have become. She also had some purpose in developing Clare's character several chapters ago. She's more of a gauge and a plot device than any special role within the Seven.
In fact, other than Cynthia, the others are just really strong fighters. They don't have any special titles.
I'm sure with Miria's revalation a few chapters back, it's more that the Organization just doesn't give a shit about when their Claymores Awaken. It helps in their research. The girls have their own code about killing themselves before they turn into "yoma" (a myth long debunked and something the higher-ranked Awakened Being Hunters have full knowledge of), but just because they have an agreement among each other doesn't mean their handlers truly care. It just makes the claymores easier to handle.

I can be wrong but don't you think Rubel is some kind of monster Yoma?
After all we've been told that male claymores weren't stable enough and turned into AB very quickly. What it this isn't totally true?
Also, I seem to remember Rubel was able to tell one of the former eye, Galatea, was lying... so I guess he may be something big.

I thought Tabitha was the group of seven's eye and Cynthia was their healer. I think Cynthia's detection range is simply better than Clare's, so she was doing the sensing.
Rubel is interesting - he seems to be quite strong based on the panel we saw a while ago of him wielding a claymore with one hand, but Clare's group couldn't detect him which leads me to believe that he does not have any yoma energy. I also suspect he may have his own purposes that are separate from the organization but is unable to do anything alone.

If you think Rubel is incredibly powerful... and he his much older than the girls there... you could say that his ability to hide youma must be very sharp. So should he be a monster, I think he'd be in the top range in many domains, also explaning his longevity.

Like..that "demon" could be an Awakened Being that continued to eat other Awakened Beings. Perhaps absorbing them or their remains? Could be why its going to Easley ( if it IS doing that anyway) and the fact that he is freely letting his Yoki loose would mean he is luring it for God knows what.

I wouldn't mind seeing Easley temporarily team up with Helen and Deneve to drive off the Demons. It's not like Clare hasn't been given the offer from Riful before. Abyssal Ones must certainly know more about the truth of the grand experiment than they let on, and so long as a warrior isn't completely loyal to the Organization, they shouldn't be averted from taking on an ally or two.
Easley did seem weaker though. We've seen him take on Luciela, and while Priscilla may have done most of the ass kicking Luciela received, Easley is no slouch. I think that's it.
For some reason Isley doesn't want to go all out if not necessary, thus tries to adjust to the minimum yoki he needs to get results. But he was tricked by Helen and her yoki hiding and surprised she in fact was a lot stronger than the adjustment he made.
I guess that for some reason, he also wanted to remain invisible, and his enconter with Helen may reveal his position, his plans may go to dump thanks to that.

In fact their power balance is severly skewed. They have no power except regenerating and body morphing (weapons) and eating their target. That ability comes from the abyssal flesh they have, even if they don't have lots of power, they still have some.
You could compare them to soldier ants in a way.
Although each ant is almost powerless, they are strong as a group.
The only problem is that there are only 11 of them if I read well, which isn't a lot for someone like easley.

Tue, 02-03-2009, 04:19 PM
I doubt they will send out Beth and Alice after this. I mean these Abyss Feeders feed on Abyssal Ones or basically anything that has a strong Yoki. Beth and Alice will have one of them turn into an Awakened. Since they are number 1 and 2 they would be closest to a Abyssal one. So I'm pretty sure those things will go and devour them. I'm sure Easley would survive if he aimed for the heads all the time.
I was always wondering what would happen if you craft the flesh of a awakened one into a human instead of a normal Yoma. Somehow I thought that would be an extremely strong warrior. Not something like this. Still good they showed it.
Does anybody know why Helen said she might not be able to regenerate her eye? It's because she isn't a defensive type?
Ryllharu
Tue, 02-03-2009, 07:24 PM
Yeah, Helen is Offensive, but it doesn't help that her eye was pretty much smashed rather than severed cleanly like her arm was.
The reason the Abyss Feeders are so powerful is like whatsherface said. They will avoid getting their heads smashed above all else. They can survive anything else (like when he empaled that one who later began to lick him..kinky), so they don't care as long as they protect their heads.
Easley probably has a good chance to kill them, he's got excellent accuracy should he figure it out. The only reason he didn't annihilate Luceilia was she just ate whatever hit her. Riful wouldn't be bad either. Impale one to pin it down, slice apart its head, repeat.

I'm actually surprised Easley has not figured it out yet. Destroying the head is hardly a secret method in killing Youma or beings that come from them. If the enemy comes back to life, then it is best to simply hit the one part everyone knows cannot regenerate.

And as for the above comments about how only 11 of these can take him on, it boils down to two things:
1) They survive - high regeneration abilities, ability to evade attacks and protecting the vital part
2) One that seems forgotten in the past discussions: they learn
Each time they fight, they acquire combat experience: how fast is Easley, how strong is Easley, what's his attack pattern, what's his weakness? They get stronger offensively and defensively every time.
These guys learn and survive, specializing each time just to hunt their target. Some might say they lack power, but they clearly have no trouble taking chunks out of Easley with their bare teeth/claws.
Sucks that he died though. I liked his awakened form. It was actually good-looking.

I finally realized why this chapter got so much on my nerves.
it doesn't seem like Isely is having any problems, and then he dies.
even at the previous chapter, it looks like Isely is having fun with them, rather than fighting for his life.
if he was truly concerned about his survival, why didn't he go immediately all out (take out his big ass sword) and try to take out six of them as fast as possible?
in ch88, he slashed three of them (off-screen) to half, why didn't he focus on removing their heads right away?
he kills one of them with a back kick from his hoof, that's probably the most insulting thing he can do in this form, and a few panels later, he dies?
he even says that this time he'll kill them all. it might be a boast, but since none of the feeders understand him, it looses the effect as a bluff.
his actions, at first, imply that he doesn't feel one bit threatened by them, and we know that he fought them many times (and that last time they even managed to wound him good), so why was he so cocky?
it didn't look like he was having any problems with them, he knows how to get them off his tail, so why did he die?
why did he die? why, why, why?

Holy shit! Didn't see that one coming. Like BOO said, he didn't seem threatened at all in the previous chapter. That just felt retarded. But on the point why he didn't go full out from the start, maybe he knew about their learning ability and don't wanna show off to much things and ability's so he would have something new the next time they came. Try and defeat them with as little effort, power and ability's as possible. Only thing that would make sense.
Another thing that bothered me was the fact that the feeders was able to just rip of part of Easely with their bare hands and teeth. When we see him lying on his side and the start to climb up on him we see the size difference between them. That they being so small compared to him would be able to rip of one of those legs without effort is just stupid.
For example if you take two different things with different sizes that require the same amount of force to break, just for fun let's take a steel-pipe and a tree, it would be easier to break the pipe since you can grip it and utilize your full strength. But it won't be as easy to break the tree since you can grip it with you hand and all you actually can do is push on it and that would not go nearly as well.
Not very cool way to go for one of the coolest characters of this series. Now we just have Riful left. Hope she gets Clare & Co to join up with her or gets her little creation up and running. If she also gets taken out it feels like it will just go downhill with this series after that. I don't find Priscilla that interesting. Neither is the Organization.

Thu, 03-05-2009, 06:01 PM
The TohsakaRinHair (I can never remember her name) Claymore said it, each time enough get killed off the run home to make more, but they've still been doing damage. Easley doesn't have time to regenerate because the Organization can crank them out fast enough and be right back on his ass.
The damage they've been doing over the months/years has been building up over time. Easley can't feed that easily either because he needs to hide in huge crowds.
At first I was wondering why they weren't sending them to attack Riful the same way, but then I realized that it would be child's play for her to slice their head into pieces. That's why they are sending Alicia and Beth to kill her after the ghouls track her down. Only an Abyssal One could take Riful on. Riful is only truly scared of one person, Priscilla, and the two of them stand a chance to be just as bad.
Buffalobiian
Thu, 03-05-2009, 08:01 PM
Aye. Comparing both awakened forms, Riful would be far more unapproachable. Easley's really suited to attacking other large forms head on, aside from his arrows. Taking guys down one by one with such large movements aren't as effective as Riful's multi-ribbon attack - something that could really kill all 11 at once. Due to her size too, it looks like she can trap them even if she kills 6 or so.
Another part of why Easley's death was sort of....incomprehensible was how he lost. We're shown that the Feeders can take bites out of him, only for him to shake them off rather easily. But then, after skips of showing other characters, we see him having lost a limb or three without being shown how.
That, for the most part, is what I think why the Feeders seem unrealistically strong - how did they do all that damage?

Thu, 03-05-2009, 09:17 PM
I think the feeding part was not done justice when it was depicted. Take note that the feeders are insanely fast, and as such I assume they attack and bite just as quickly. Imagine having a rat biting on your arm, and it can bite 10 times a second (I exaggerate, but they should be quite fast). I imagine 2 of those can easily sever your limbs after a few tries.
The manga freeze panels simply could not show the ferocity of the feeding frenzy that occurred.

quite awesome. it's been so long since I've read Claymore that I myself forgot that Jean is dead and Rafella is merging. complete mindfuck.
anyways, so this is the new form of the quick-draw. and now that Claire has five 'spirits' (Rafella, Jean, Ireana, Terrasa, herself) she can focus 5 times the power into the strike.
Yukimura
Wed, 06-03-2009, 05:13 PM
Wait what? Where are you getting all that stuff about a 'new' quicksword and 'spirits' and 5 (shouldn't it be be 4 since Claire's own power should only count once?) times the power? Claire has taken 'something' from all of the aforementioned characters (except maybe Jean who only helped her un-awaken) but I don't think their spirits are living inside her, other than potentially Teresa's . Claire has had the quicksword ever since she fought Awakened Ophelia, it probably became more powerful thanks to her becoming more powerful overall during the time skip but I think that's the extent of its 'newness'.
As for what the heck happened with the Raph-cila I'm thinking the hybrid awoke as a mindless beast but thanks to Claire Raphelia was able to transfer her consciousness into Claire rather than be consumed in the Awakening. The beastie's first order of business will probably be to have an epic battle with Riful.

It was metaphorical, of course., I'm slightly intoxicated, not stupid
however, it still stands. the scenes in pages 19-21 imply that the quick cutter isn't just an attack that releases violent youki, it seems that it has a stage that draws energy from the entire body and then extracts at greater pressure.
as for claire herself, she did inherit a part of all those mentioned characters.
Ireane gave her an arm, and while it doesn't necessarily carry mental attachments, claire was still able to use it as an excess power. Terrasa is a no brainer, naturally.
jean is trickier, but they did do the soul harmony thing, and I think that qualifies as taking part of her soul. Raffela too, gave claire her memories,
five times the power or four times the power is just semantics.
Ryllharu
Wed, 06-03-2009, 05:40 PM
Rafaela is only now giving her memories, and we really don't know the extent of what this means. It might just be memories, it might be her experiences and fighting instincts (Rafaela being a former #2 and a master of Youki suppression).
Only Irene and Teresa really gave Clare anything. Jean saved her, but that doesn't mean they are connected in any kind of way that is more than a simple delusion inside Clare's head similar to Guts (various), Alita (evil krauser guy, enemies), or Wolverine (Ms. Marvel, other old friends/enemies).
As for the ability, there's nothing particularly "new" about it. It is still the same Flash Sword, Clare has just elevated her ability to control her own Youki in the seven years since she last used the skill. Before she could concentrate a great deal of her power into the arm, now she can move all of it there.

Which, in my opinion, fucking kicks ass. She tore her up like it was nothing!
Aye. Somehow, powering up, then coming right down before kicking ass makes it all the more badass.
While I agree with most of what Yuki and Ryll said, Jean Clare did learn considerably from Jean:
-Teresa gave Claire her natural talent
-Irene gave Claire her arm, as well as teaching her the technique Quick Sword
-Jean made Claire realise that the mind can still control an awakened body, leading her to develop a controlable Quicksword. Whether or not Irene and Teresa's were controllable they didn't tell exactly, but I'd assume there must have been at least some degree, if no total control. Nevertheless, it was from Jean that Claire realised this from. We have to give her credit for that.
-Flora - I can't remember too much from her, despite being the most recent. If memory serves right, Wind Cutter is a different technique that can be achieved through physical means rather than awakening your whole arm. That was the reason Claire chose to adopt this technique instead in conjunction with her Youki suppression. It also allowed Claire to cut with greater precision at the slight expense of other parameters.
I'm not sure what the total effect of the Wind Cutter's training had on the Quick Sword, since it wasn't specified here.
I might be overthinking this, but is it simply Claire pumping all of her awakened Youki into that right arm alone, or something more? Rafaela's response seems contradictory. She comments that the Youki simply vanished, not relocated or compressed into an arm. Then she said "Don't tell me, only the arm is awakened", as if the arm only awakened after her initial comment, which makes it no different compared to our previous Quick Swords.
Bottom line is, what happened to all that Youki built up through Claire's powerup? Did it really get concentrated into one arm?

It'd be interesting seeing those Abyssal Feeders animated. Right how the static frames give them a wtf feel when they come out of nowhere. With proper music and animation, I can see some very good "Holy Shit" moments.
At least they'll make some noise so they'll seem as nasty as they're supposed to be.
If it was just the Feeders, I'd imagine Riful coming out alive. With Alice and Beth on the loose though, I'm not so sure.
The only real traits we've seen of Riful is ultra sharp/hard body and delocalised core. While these two things alone make her a bitch to defeat, it just doesn't seem like enough to match the odds she's up against.
Duff is so a goner.
As for the Fused Awakened, I'm not quite certain it'll make it out of here alive neither. I think it'll take out Alice&Beth perhaps, along with the Feeders, but it might go down with them, realising Kraco's scenario of pitting Clare against Organisation.

Her "emerging anew" was more to do with a state of mind. From the jist of things, the Dual Awakened is devoid of any thought, emotion or desire whatsoever. A whole lot of power and emptiness. From that description, it seems comparable to a black hole.
Clare avoided being absorbed into by retaining her ego, it seems. Maintaining her sense of self prevented her from turning into a mass of nothingness.
If it was a power that got her out of it, I'd call it willpower, as opposed to physical prowess which you seem to be hinting.
Of course, she owes a huge thanks to whoever that voice was.

She also shared a lot with the entity right before it awakened:
-Memories, some of which could include a lot from the organisation hidden agenda
-Maybe fighting techniques or knowledge
Everything both Claymores knew prior to this awakening.
Clare has always been some kind of powercell getting power from others gaining former #1 flesh, then an arm from another powerful claymore... and now memories from 2 strong fighters.
She's an hybrid whose level is hard to evaluate, but could be enough to get out alive from any situation.

There's virtually no doubt this experience gives Clare a powerup, considering she's gotten one in basically every meaningful encounter in the comic.

They definitely transform into something small and hideous, but I'm not so sure about zombie eaters. I'm assuming you mean the same beings as the Abyssal Eaters the Organisation created?
Things are really looking downhill for Riful though. Duff's a goner, but there's a slight chance she'll survive. Hopefully Duff's death will put her on a revenge path against the Organisation and form an alliance with Clare.

.
When you compare the hole sizes on her and Duff's body, their sizes don't seem terribly different. From what I remember in the anime though, Riful's awakened form is huge. It's probably a slight inconsistency, but I think Riful was impaled five times because of her overall size.
The first time they showed her awaken (when they tortured Jean), that whole castle collapsed.
What looked even more ambiguous was the frame featuring Alice afterwards. My first impression was that she was dashing Riful rather than simply evading, which means next month might show Riful being caught off-guard like she was with the shrapnel.
On the other hand though, I can't decide of both dodging AND attacking at the same time would be too much for even the twins.

Like DBZ said, it was Beth. Or should be. I'm pretty sure they mentioned they're equally capable of switching places, just that it's usually Alicia who does the work.
I'm not so sure about proteching Riful, on the other hand. It depends on who's controlling Alicia at the time. Is it Beth and what remains of her control over her twin, or is it the "Awakened Alicia's" mind?
If it was Beth, then she must have realised her sister was awakening, and would become a future target of the organization. She'd have killed the Abyssal ones then on purpose, perhaps even thinking of pairing her up with Riful.
If it was Alicia, I'm not so sure if the decision was conscious. Perhaps she's simply dicing up anything she sees that she can dice up, or consciously distinguished them and Riful as foe and friend.
Ryllharu
Sat, 09-05-2009, 12:26 AM
It was my understanding that Beth (no. 2) was the one preventing Alicia (no. 1) from Awakening. Alicia has always been the one who awakens if I recall correctly. With Beth dead, or otherwise corrupted, Alicia has no one to hold her back to sanity. She's just going to Awaken as a new Abyssal One, who may or may not be allied with Riful, at least temporarily.
Beth usually controls Alicia while she's berserk, it is the only way to keep Alicia from enjoying it so much that she awakens anyway. Something like Beth takes in the souls of both, and it's only possible because they are twins.

If Beth is taken over, I believe she'd relinquish control over Alicia rather than becoming the medium throught which the parasite can control her sister. The whole thing about them having to be twins is that their mindset and bodies are similar, so that a link can be maintained. Beth's mind has to be focused to keep Alicia in control, so the link isn't ON by default. Being taken over by a parasite would kill that link, as it kills Beth's mind, and I doubt the parasite would be able to re-establish it.

I don't know wether we can say now that the link would be broken and the parasite would be unable to use that link.
After all, she had a direct hit, didn't see it coming and the parasite might have been very quick in taking her body and soul (massive cell invasion through bloodstream for example?)
It's fairly possible she didn't have time to cut the link.
After all, the scene let's us think she's infected and her sister still in awakened state.
She would probably have her sister quit the awakened state in the event she feels she's compromised. But again, I think she didn't have the time to realise/react.

"Cutting" is where my idea differs from yours, in that there is nothing to "cut".
The way I saw it is that the control is balanced. When Beth controls Alicia, she tries to control Alicia's body, while Alicia's awakened "soul" tries to take it back.
For example, at Beth's best condition, the control will be 100% Beth, and 0% Awakened Alicia. If Beth lost concentration, her level of control will drop, and since the body is Alicia's, her awakened mind will automatically control what's left over:
eg. Beth 80%, Awknd Alicia 20%
The idea is that Beth has to actively hold her share of control, or it's automatically lost to Awakened Alicia.
In the current case, I see it as Beth slowly losing control as she can no longer think, concentrate nor even keep her mind intact sufficiently.
The control now might be, for example: 40% Beth, 60% Alicia.
When Beth no longer has a mind, and hence can no longer control Alicia, Awakened Alicia is completely independent.
What's happening is that the parasite is devouring Beth's mind and body. If I was to use an analogy, it would be that the parasite is taking over the "space" in Beth's head. It's destroying Beth's consciousness and replacing it with its own. It's not taking over Beth by "controlling" her data, but "rewriting it", hereby tipping the balance to
0% Beth (because it's no longer there), 100% Alicia.
The parasite can't push to increase it's share of control of Alicia's body because it doesn't know how. It was explained before by one of the organisation's men to Galatea that as the result of Alicia and Beth's training, they no longer have their own personality. The parasite that has overwritten Beth's data with its own doesn't have this ability.
Plus, I believe that the control only worked because control of Non-Awakened Alicia was given to Beth, then she awakened, while Beth maintained control.
Once it's lost, and the Awakened takes over its own body, I don't believe even a healthy Beth could have re-established control.
---------------------
Bottom line is that I don't think the link is of a nature where one party has to actively severe it. As soon as Beth's normal mind is gone, Alicia has her own body, and the parasite has Beth's.
btw, I think the correct name was Alice, not Alicia (my own stuff-up after watching Valk. Chronicles.)

For some reason, Raki might be the one wiping monsters from the face of that world.
He's powerless, but yet it seems he was the one responsible for the eradication of the voracious eaters at Tichéri.
He somehow/probably has a power that can anihilate yoki.
He got that from birth and slowly awakened the power, or got it being surronded by humongous yoki powers, starting by Claire, Easley, Priscilla.
That would explain why the latter was so tiny and with an almost impossible to trakc yoki.
It was her only way to be able to travel with Raki, or his power was rather pratical in that it masked her yoki.
Out of this pure speculation, it might explain why he's never been attacked by Priscilla or Easley. And if I stretch it a bit, he might be the reason why Claire was always able to remain on the thin red line beetween sanity and going awakened when she powered up (or at least it helped the first few times when she needed a lifeline so that she learns the limits)

That's probably better reasoning than the usual cliche "my love pulled her back from insanity". It would give Raki some interesting development, since i've been waiting the entire manga for him to become badass.

I don't really see how Raki having that power would stop Easley or Pricillia from attacking him, but like you said, it's speculation, and it's actually rather plausible. I like it too, since it finally gives him a way to finally protect Clare.
Like Dae said, lets hope everything is more interesting than simply "willpower".
And will the organization turn Raki into a male awakened being?
I can see that happening. The organisation makes Claymores by infusing Yoma flesh into humans. Right now, that "thing" is pretty much infusing itself into Raki. If the organisation is able to find out why Raki's surviving as long as he has, they might be able keep his brain from being affected by the parasite, letting him control it back.
The fact that they mentioned these beings have no thirst for flesh may translate as a lack of lust in Raki, so that releasing Youki doesn't give him pleasure as it did the previous male samples.
Regarding Pricillia, I'm going to guess she lured a whole bunch of them away from Raki and killed them herself. She'll be part of the rescue mission later on to get Raki out of the place.
The bottom frame of pg20-21 was simply beautiful.

Because so far it hasn't been hinted that strength is the key to stopping the infection. That's where David's theory comes in.
As for fusing...I don't believe they've ever done that before. The fusing of flesh is the closest thing we've seen so far, and that's been portrayed as the simple insertion of youma flesh into a human.
As for the new tower of destruction (forgot the name), they managed to fuse because they were sisters, if I'm not mistaken.

That would seem like the more likely explanation although Priscilla fusing with Raki also visited my mind, but I can't really see that happening.
I'm certainly looking forward to learning just why Raki can fight back against the parasites. David's theory is a bit out there but who knows. Sheer willpower would be a bit boring.

Yes their bodies are supposed to be disgusting, we had that info in the young Claire arc.
We can suppose that the butchery the organisation performs on the girls render them inept for reproduction. If not the view seems to be enough to repell even the less subtle brute raper there is.
I suppose the butchery is performed before puberty, to exclude any sex related awakening, if so, it's possible to extrapolate that the youma flesh inside them totally messes with their hormonal system. I also wonder if it doesn't make them grow faster.
And yes, their lifespan is short and pregnancy would probably shorten it even more, having them killed before giving birth. Afterall, pregnancy is not compatible with physical combat.

All the claymores have modest figures, but they're still quite the woman. It's hard to imagine someone whose sexual organs are removed/inactivated could develop such features.
As for the age factor, I thought it was just easier to control them at a younger age, especially since most were orphans (the twins are the only known exception). It would also bring out the most in training.

Beyond a certain appearance, Claymores don't age. The seven years spent in the north for Clare and company (Galatea too) as well as Teresa's consistent appearance during her career certainly gives proof of that. According to Clare, they don't even really need to eat.
Their shortened life spans come from two factors, combat deaths and awakening. Most are just mercy killed before they Awaken.
If I remember right, Teresa was nearly raped when she first met Clare. She didn't seem to care, so I imagine that their disgusting bodies aside (which didn't really deter the bandits too much) reproduction is not an issue. Even if it was, I'm sure the embryo would be killed quickly from a number of causes.

I thought she meant Raki at first, but it makes more sense for her to be referring to Easley. I guess those Abysmal Eaters carried the scent of their last meal with them. And she's in her adult form alright.
It's surprising that Beth was still controlling Alicia even in that state. Granted, she did reduce Alicia's youki to make it easier to handle, but any sort of conscious thought in that "thing" was unexpected.

Great chapter, I was hoping for a miracle save for Riful and Duph since their relationship is better and more interesting than Claire and Raki.
Just a reminder that Teresa was strong enough to tear apart an Awakened Number 1 with her bare hands without releasing her Youki very much. It only makes sense that Priscilla when she is trying would beat the unholy fuckin' hell out of one of the Abyssal Ones being that she had power that could surpass Teresa. The manga has constantly been leaving reminders that the supposedly unstoppable power of the Abyssal Ones is just relative to the tiny world the characters have lived in so far. The Organization wanted an entire ARMY of weapons like Alicia and Beth after all.

I can't help but wonder where this series is going anymore though. The last few chapters have felt a bit disjointed. Priscilla coming back almost seems too sudden, since they just introduced the Eaters and it never really felt like the storyline with Clarice and Miata was resolved. The Galatea part of it, but not the pair themselves after they knew more of the truth.

There's something really touching about seeing a claymore knowingly awaken with no way back and seeing an infected monster cry for her sister. They never talked, but they didn't really need to.
In retrospect I agree that the pacing has changed, but since it comes out once a month, I barely remember the last chapter enough to see a difference when I'm reading it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the story went back to a bit more reasonable pace and progress once this mega battle is over. Of course we might get some general Priscilla development as well but then again, maybe not. I suppose it also depends on whether she actually has a goal or if she wants to claim poor Raki back from the organization. All in all I'd like to see more of Claire. At least she did make a short appearance in this chapter, starting to recognize Priscilla's youki. She hasn't been too interested in finding Raki lately, though. Poor Raki. He has apparently been doing nothing but trying to find her and keep Priscilla from eating people.

This is the third chapter in a row that is pretty much nothing but Priscilla owning the shit out of whoever she feels like, and the next chapter pretty much has to be more of the same (until she is somehow driven off or retreats, possibly due to sensing Teresa's aura or whatever on Clare). I'm cool with treading water for these chapters to reach a big development at 100, since I guess killing the shit out of everybody counts as tying up plot threads.

Clare and the others have been suppressing their yoki for so long, perhaps they are no longer even capable of Awakening. They may have passed a threshold where their power has equalized, but no longer presents a corrupting danger to them.
Either that or Teresa actively suppressed Clare's Awakening with her own yoki, as other claymores have done for Clare in the past (and Clare herself has done to others in turn).

Chapter 100 (http://www.onemanga.com/Claymore/100/)

It seems like Pricillia's surprised that Clare didn't awaken.
To me it meant "Weren't you supposed to awaken?"
Clare's been pretty close to awakening before, and this is probably the closest, talking in terms of "distance to awakening", rather than "likelihood".
I'm hypothesizing that it has to do with Clare being made from a claymore and not a proper yoma. The only real side effects we've seen are a weaker beginning and fluctuating power. The inability to awaken completely (being reverted back when you hit the "line") may be another attribute.
It's always a possibility that Pricilla brought her back with yoki manipulation to question her some more, but it seemed like she was ready to kill her anyway. And I doubt she's afraid of some "weakling" awakening, though some unconscious fear of this "scent" powering up could have pressured her into doing it.(unlikely, as her facial expression doesn't hint that)

Yeah, that was some shitty English, regardless of who's fault it was. I'm fairly sure it all just meant Clare's subvousciously pulling herself back to avoid another Jean-style sacrifice to save her, but to the extent that she's almost paranoid and can't release her power at all.
Impressive quick-thinking on that claymore's part (for dislodging the parasite). Not quick enough to dodge it though.

Really, really shitty translation job this chapter. I don't know Japanese, but half the dialogue is totally unintelligible gibberish and I'd imagine that didn't get by the publisher originally. Surely "mental block" is a better phrase than "mental wedge". The dialogue also refers to Jean as a man. And yes, Dietrich's naked ass is totally visible at the end for no apparent reason, but I assume her clothes got ripped off earlier and I forgot about it.
Chapter also sucks. I don't believe for a fucking minute that Priscilla decided killing Clare would maybe bring back her memories and then she didn't finish the job. She just totally demolished some abyssal powers with her bare hands not even giving a shit about what was going on and she can't just throw one punch and knock Clare's head off? There are obvious metafictional reasons why Clare doesn't just get killed instantly in a fight, and her instantly fully awakening was a good method to have her barely survive the battle... but to have her literally unable to do anything and still get dragged away against someone who nonchalantly tears up and murders basically everyone around her is pretty weak. I figured she was going to get scared off by Teresa's face implanted in Clare's chest but I guess we have to wait even more for that very obvious reveal.

No idea what your blizzard of references means at all, thank god, but yes now I see she is actually wearing pants. The mangaka hasn't really objectified the female characters' in the dialogue so I'm surprised to see such blatant fanservice. The real use of sexuality and gender in the series has been the reversal of typical mores, like a gang of thieves being totally repulsed by Teresa's invitation to have their way with her, and Miata's bizarre mothering of that one retarded Claymore. It's funny that the fully nude female monsters really aren't being sexualized in that final shot, but Dietrich is.

We had several waypoints in this month release.
At least it's not like some other manga with the same amount of pages only showing one thing.
But it sure is exponential, so suddenly, after so many chapters of slow paced and detailled arcs, we are right in the middle of a tsunami of powers unleashing and engulfing our Claymores.
I'm not that afraid for Clare, she'll manage, she already communicated once with the entity. Although it might not be as accessible as it once was, she'll find a way, or the manga will really take a strange turn of events and behead itself...
Priscila is as close to what a God/Demon visiting earth can be. I wonder what can be done about her. We do not know much about her background too, she was a strong claymore, lost to her darkside, but why is that she's so uberstrong other than just pure chance?

this is what I got so far.
clarice and Miata (new #47 and small weird girl) are still alive, as well as Galetica.
reena is also still alive.
Daup is infected (pretty much dead).
Alice died, but Beth is still alive? or are they both dead?
Riful is half way towards dying, but she probably won't.
Raki is infected, but resisting, so he's being taken by the evil organization.
Pricci has her memory back, and wants to first Kill RaphaLuci, and then Claire. Claire got infrected by something, I think it's RaphaLuci.
that's about as much as I can figure from this. i

She's dead. She was the "body" that Daup was holding (and dropped) during his infected mode. It's implied that Pricilla killed Riful, and Daup intentionally got infected to revenge her.
Alice died, but Beth is still alive? or are they both dead?
I thought they both died. Didn't they both went to face off against Pricillia?

Kind of suspected this would happen. Clare getting absorbed by it and kind of controlling it. Well wouldn't say control but she gave that thing a actual target. Something to focus on instead of just rampaging everywhere.

I read the entire thing less than a week ago, and I still don't remember what the damn fog is..
is it the remains of raph and luciella? or something else?

Pricilla destroyed that huge tower, and it turned out to be a decoy or something, and the main body was a big mess of root-like stuff that eats and absorbs.

Well that is something I did not expect. So they made a follow up to Alicia and Beth AND those two aren't the trump cards? Wonder who that would be? I think it's a bit too soon for Raki to become like that.

the new awakening form... I think we've seen it before. but it's probably just a lazy decision that they run out of awakened models.
as usual with claymore, the chapter ends with 'they're boned'

Why does she keep fighting all the Claymores and these synchronized awakening couples instead of just killing the agents, which should have been her goal? If those agents are close enough to watch the fight, they are close enough to be killed.
Such inefficiency is truly a shounen cliche.

I wanna see if Miria can do a partial awakening like Clare did. I mean all Deneve, Helen, Clare and Miria have all crossed their limits and went back. So if Clare could do that then perhaps the others could too. Would be interesting to see what part Miria would awaken.

Yes, you're right, not a perfectly normal male as a basis :)
