I don't think so.
the entire claymore island is a lab to create stable 'soldiers', if the organization had them already, then there wouldn't be any point to it.

they are a different 'race' of people, or something. not so different if a member from the enemy fraction can infiltrate them (Ruvel), but still live longer than normal humans.

Had what already?

The organisation moved onto experimenting with weaker, female claymores because they were actually controllable, while male soldiers had a 100% chance of awakening.

If Rakki was a specimen that was able to achieve stability, or may controllability (since that parasite that infects him is supposed to interact with the host's control), then it gives them reason to experiment again on males to find their ultimate weapon.

They mightn't have moved onto manufacturing any other male claymores yet, but if Rakki turned out successful, he would definitely be worthy of being called their trump card.

These twins were foreshadowed when we saw the organisation pick them up a dozen or so chapters back. From memory, the only other pick-up the organisation made was Rakki.

I agree with Ark here. I thought I missed a few chapters when I read this. A linear story isn't at all bad.

(And even with a scar across her face, Galatea is still the hottest claymore around. :) )

Had what already?

A. the men in black, the organization runners, are members of one of the fractions battling outside the island.
B. the claymore operation is an experiment to create stable soldiers to fight against awakened being like creatures who exist on the battlefield.
C. the MIB decided that males aren't suitable (so far) to this stage of the experiment.
D. if the MIB were male claymores, then they wouldn't need to research anymore into creating stable soldiers.

the MIB are probably battle scientist, they might have some battle ability, but we have seen that they can't fight even a normal claymore.

Considering Raki's background, I don't see how he could be any sort of trump card. Assuming he was succesful in battling the parasitic infection, he would still be himself and probably dislike the organization. Assuming he lost the battle he's nothing but a monster. Either way he would more likely fight the organization than anybody else.

I'm confused (not as to the content of your post(s), but the intent of it).

I'm hypothesising that the organisation only has ONE male claymore: Rakki.

It's a single, accidentally created specimen that currently yields the best results. Because of its nature, they haven't found a way to re-create another male claymore yet, or even know what factors or attributes need to be considered when making one. Hence, the research is still in progress (and he is their trump card).

edit: oh, you were responding to David's claymore"S"

I get you now.

Assuming he lost the battle he's nothing but a monster.

Or is he?

It's unclear as to whether those parasites have individual "minds", or whether they're puppets, or something that requires feedback from the main body to function.

Now that the main mass is dead (I'm assuming Clare absorbed it in return or something), those things have no reception. Where does that lead us?

NeoCybercoin

Yeah now that I think about it he could very well be a trump card. I mean since normal claymores are claymores because of normal Yoma flesh. Abyss easters become like that with flesh of a awakened. Now Rakki gets infected with something that becomes a awakened being on its own. ( think it did that ) Since he somehow managed to survive that infection he could very well become the first claymore with the flesh of an awakened without losing himself completely.

Death BOO Z

not buying this.
Raki is a lucky accident, he's a human who can fight youma and somehow resisted infection of an unknown source. he's a great experiment subject, that many crazy museum MIB would like to run tests on, but he isn't something that can be reproduced on a major scale (not in the near future, at the very least).

the organization had two directions, one is the twins; the other is the zombies.
maybe they decided that simply abducting twins was too troublesome, so they started 'birthing' twins and threeins of their own, using some sort of twisted egg fertilizing and surrogate mothers to create 'chains' of twins.strings of girls in the same age with the same genetic makeup, that can all entrust their 'reason' into one twin in a far away location (brain in jar) and have several awakened beings working together without the threat of them turning on them.

or maybe they improved the zombies, although I can't imagine how.

anyway, they're looking for something that they can create in masses, not just any lucky guy with shonen heart power.

Damn. Miria was a pretty cool character.. but even I started to think she was getting too strong (and overshadowed our other main characters).

My main problem with these new villians/numbers is that they have no personality, and come as a pretty boring roadblock for our protagonists. Giant statue, AB feeders, Alice/Beth, Twins, Genjutsu-user...

Well, Im glad the manga still has the nerves to kill of strong/well-built up characters. That´s what I loved about the beginning of Claymore (the part the anime covered), that nobody seemed to have a plot-shield.

Of course, sucks that it had to be Miria.

And I agree on the faceless enemies. The beginning of the series did a great job at giving a lot of charisma to each villain, be it that Male Awakened, or the crazy Claymore that wanted to kill Claire. And this Genjutsu-shit reaaaally felt off. sigh

More heartless, gruesome, hopeless situations, less Dragonball-esque fights and filler-ish enemies please.

Remind me if I'm wrong, but Rubel was actually a spy for the other side (ie the side the Organisation is fighting this great war with), right?

It doesn't help these guys that he seems to know the most out of all of these guys.

I guess that's what the "cliffhanger" is supposed to be, just like "what's happening to Claire" was meant to be from last time.

It comes down to whether the suppression was a one-off thing (like Pricilla's arm "killed off" the parasite), or whether both were "alive" an existed in a balanced state. I'm more inclined to believe it's the second idea.

Kraco
Fri, 12-03-2010, 04:58 PM
For all we know, the arm might have infected Raki as well. So, the balance could still exist. I'm not inclined to think the next time we see Raki he's going to be a mindless zombie warrior with very limited battery life.

Oh, was that it?

I saw her feet flutter in some panels and thought it was some momentary awakening ability in her legs or some shit. Yours makes sense. What doesn't make sense was the translation stated that she attaches the hair to the youma, but that it doesn't restrict their movement.

Is this manga ending soon? Anything in the known? I´ve got to say, most of the text, what people say, is completely boring and never has much of an impact anyway.

But did I see this correct: That body that all the Claymores slashed, lying on the ground, was the defeated Miria? If so, even if through some bs-awakening healing she got herself back standing, why the scars? Either heal or heal not, that´s how it was so far.

They died, I'm pretty sure. They mentioned having to only pick 3 because of the ingredients and "pumping them up with youki". I'm theorising that they're going to use that parasite-thing's property to reaminate, if not revive some dead #1s.

I would say Theressa's definitely among them. I'm sure they used Theresa's head since that's what Clare presented to them (but who knows when you're dealing with the organisation), but at the same time they obviously collect bodies. They would have had to identify the correct one though, since "everybody" died in that battle.

Defending against outside invaders (or going to the mainland to take them out) is exactly the direction I think this is heading - unless Claymore's readership is so small in Japan that the author's forced to put down his pen in the near future.

As for ugly claymore, hehe...yeah.. I thought we'd never have to put up with that again after that butch one from the War of the North.

Well they did mention how the organization was linked to another world, so they could do another whole arc on the other world.

There are also lots of issues that aren't cleared up yet:

-What will Raki become
-Clare still isn't back (assuming she will be)
-How will Teresa tie into all of this

Miria's scar makes me upset because I always idealized Miria as a delicate, yet powerful warrior who was always rational and wise - the scar makes her symbolize more strength/power rather than wisdom/skill. It does not fit her character imo.

NeoCybercoin

I doubt Teresa wil get back into the game. Then again....they did have 3 former nr 1 warriors....so she could be amongst them. Though I'd doubt she could be amongst them since Clare got her head crafted into her. Or that is what she thinks and they just used a different part of Teressa =\

Buffalobiian
Fri, 04-22-2011, 09:37 PM
Well there's the question of exactly how much youma/claymore material has to be used to form a hybrid. Did Teressa's entire head get planted in Clare's stomach, or just her eyeball?

And what exactly can you swap out? Do the girls have to keep their vital organs, or does the transformation grant them healing powers immediately to overcome it?

The safest way seems to be breast inplants.

- and Clare mustn't have gotten much of that. :p

NeoCybercoin
Tue, 04-26-2011, 02:52 AM
Haha that would be awesome. I can see the Organization advertising for that already.
"Become a Claymore hybrid and get bigger breasts for free!"

But back to the implanting it...I think they put it in their womb if they aren't replacing stuff. They might as well have cut off a piece of Theresa's ass as for as we know and just put it in Clare. The more I think about it, the more I am convinced Theresa is one of the 3 that the Organization has made. Plus that old hag said that she could send out 3 Abyssal ones. If anyone is capable of become a Abyssal one it would be Theresa.

Oh, and let's be thankful Theresa is not among the 3. She would wipe out the entire rebellion with only the color change of her eyes. Not only that, but Theresa should be there when Claire is there

Hm, I wonder how strong Raki really is. The way he effortlessly takes on the organization´s men seems a bit over the top for just a normal human being. I hope he gets to fight one of the villain Claymores to show how skilled he actually became. Not saying that he should slay a dozen of them, just a one on one-fight.

one of the better chapters.

Buffalobiian

His strength and speed should be within human limits, so I don't think he'll do too well. No flashy moves that make use of Youki channelling for him.

That parasite infection might have given him a little gift though.. His back was conveniently covered so it's only our guess. But since he's feeling fine at the moment, either:

1) The organisation extracted it (highly likely)
2) The organisation developed the technique to harness the body-control ability and were kind enough to relinquish Rakki of it. (unlikely)
3) The parasite no longer functions malignantly as the main body's been absorbed by Claire and is now dormant (who knows...)

But I had severe trouble to follow who was fighting whom in the first third of this chapter.

I stand by my opinion that this manga rather sucks, BUT I´d love to watch it as an anime. Hope they´ll change their minds sometime in the future and animate the rest of the manga.

I wouldn't say that it's a bad manga, but it's deeply flawed.
mostly by the slow release rate, the fact that everyone looks the same and most of the pages are just figures jumping or sword wielding with no text (so you switch through the page quickly and don't notice much what's going on).

Given the right studio and budget, it could be an awesome action movie.

'bout the chapter... I have no opinion. no idea what's going on around here.

What's so hard to follow?

The three came and just butchered everyone up before we even really got to see them in person, and then it was:

Mira vs Hysteria
Cassandra vs 3 chicks
Make-up vs Twins

I would call it "not much happens" as opposed to "hard to follow".

I'm with the 'wtf is going on' camp. I like the character designs in general but the only defining characteristic of most of the chars is their hair style and it gets hard to follow who is who, especially when new characters are showing up every few chapters. After a second or third pass I can usually puzzle everything out but it can get annoying reading through a fight chapter and not having a clue who's doing what unless someone scar-faced like Miria of Galatea is involved. Also he just doesn't seem to want to move the story forward as it keeps going from fight to fight to fight without revealing particularly strong details about the greater world.

Interesting, I guess. But if it's a pendulum, then she'll have to sway back and forth, so you only really need to put your sword right in the middle of the motion to cut her up nicely.

If it's supposed to look like an illusion of her lying on the ground, then it'll have to be at a speed comparable to Mira's phantom flash - only that the movement is even more predictable since it has clear start and end points.

I suppose it's a technique that relies on surprise though. Once you think it through, it's not so hard to get its weakness. Roxanne, on the other hand.. Damn she's evil.

Well the only one who dissed her is the mole-chick. No one else even knows about it, supposedly. And she dissed it because it's the ugliest technique she had accumulated so far (if she even bothered to learn it after seeing it), when she has all the other ones that can do the job and also not look ugly.

In the end, the reason comes down to thinking it doesn't look very "warrior-like". Even Cassandra thinks so.

From what I understand, their genitals/pubian region have been seriously altered in the process of implanting youki flesh, making the view horrible enough for mercenaries to lose their will to rape.
They have been enrolled as young pre-teen girls, so the modifications clearly altered the development of what should have been their natural woman body.

Then, their training and upbringing probably doesn't let much room for proper woman feelings/mindset/emotion set.

Both in their body and development from preteen, to teen, to young adults, there's no room for womanhood.

So I agree in thinking it's hard to rely too much on their gender to make asumptions.

NeoCybercoin

I'm pretty sure it's because of some nasty/hideous scar they have on their body where the Youki flesh is. Not because of the genitals themselves. Theressa ripped off the cloth from her chest ( I thought it was the chest anyway) and that disgusted the gang who surrounded her at that time. Also the only way they can rebel against guys is running away or knocking them out or something because they can't kill em.

It is explained in chapter 110. The arm belonged to Priscilla who plunged it into Raki and left it there to save his life in order to thank about because she had found the smell of Clare/Theressa that she smelled on Raki once.

And I´m glad Deneve stopped Miria´s train of thought. I would have hated if the manga somehow introduced a "good willed" Awakened at this point of the story. You cannot fight the hunger for flesh once you´ve awakened, that´s the ultimately established fact.

By now Deneve is like the ultimate defensive warrior. Her regenerative powers would be unmatched by anything short of an AB or even an Abyssal One.

I don't mind everything that's been going on at the moment, though I guess reading 5 chapters at once feels a lot better.

"Constantly smiling?" I can only think of Teresa of the faint smile, but she didn't betray the organisation until she was #1.. but I guess the organisation could have updated everyone's minds to scratch or something..

But then the confusing this is that the the speedy AB became a mirage of Precillia before she died. Does anybody remember how those dead warriors were reanimated again? Did the organisation use their own technology, use the parasite organism, or the arm that Pricillia stick into Raki?

If the latter, what of that now? It was needed to suppress the infecting parasites, and I didn't imagine that they would have died since they could have stolen life energy from Raki.

The dying resurrected Abyssal Claymore says the woman who really severely injured her was a fresh new single digit who betrayed the Organization and became a murderer, then transformed into Priscilla. She is obviously referring to Priscilla as well. Except, aren't the resurrected Abyssals from a generation or two before Priscilla was called up? Either she is mistaken and the resurrection process that involved Priscilla's arm somehow altered her memories (but who cares, because she's dead now) or something even more fucked up happened in the past. Like this not being the only time a "Priscilla" was created.

I never recalled Priscilla smiling when she was a claymore. From memory she was rather wimpy during their time when Teresa was still alive. Maybe that.
But you´re forgetting about a more fucked up explanation for why Priscilla´s "ghost" showed up here. That organization guy explicitly said "she´s beyond an abyssal being". What does that even mean? Imo, it makes little sense to say something like that if all you´re trying to tell is "she´s even stronger".

We had Youma, we have Awakened Beings, and we had Abyssal Beings. Each being significantly evolved from the prior. Last time we saw Claire and Priscilla, "something" did happen to them. My out-of-leftfield assumption is that Priscilla indeed evolved into an even higher stage of a Youma. And part of her newly gained abilities is to connect to other Youma. I mean, if I remember correctly, her and Claire mixed into some kind of weird, giant cocoon. Wouldn´t surprise me if that is now the Youma-analogy to a server, with other Youma being clients that Priscilla is able to connect to.

Of course, that´s all just wild interpretation and guessing on my part. Your theory is probably right :D

I would have guessed that one awakened after the other to protect them (ie a squad was sent to kill the first awakened one. The other awakened when their claymore-form no longer supplied enough power to protect the first from the kill squad).

At least, that's the scenario I had in my head first, but if Riful was the one who awoke first, then she'd be pretty absurdly powerful to need the likes of Duff to awaken. On the other hand, if the kill squad forced even Riful to awaken, they must have been pretty damn strong.

My perception may be off though, since the only #2-5 vs #1 fight we've seen was between Theresa and her pursuers, and she may have been an exception in that she was way ahead of everyone else.

it doesn't feel like a final chapter...
or maybe it was just the end of the "claymore" organization...

Oh that. Yeah now that you mention it, it did read a little odd. But I don't think it's the end of the entire series. I mean there's still the issue of Clare/Priscilla.

I see I´m not the only being wtf-ed by the "Claymore - End" text on the last page. Could be anything, but ... do we know how popular the series is in Japan? Maybe it was forced to be wrapped up due to shrinking readership numbers?

About the chapter itself: When Miria said how it was enough for her to stain human blood, did she mean Rimuto? Because for some reason I was confused, if she was talking about those two monsters. Weird context. Nah, had to be Rimuto.

Ugh, really hope this isn´t some rushed wrap-up final chapter. The sudden explanation of what Youma are makes it feel like that, though.

That end declaration confuses me as well. However, it's hard to see this to be a sudden last chapter, especially due to the Dae and Rubel's talk, which would have been a very strange thing to leave there if the manga had been cut short.

Just moment before she told the other two to slay any organization men they found - so for her to say it's enough for her to be the only one to soil her hands is a bit questionable. Unless she was absolutely sure the other two would find nothing. But in that case she wouldn't have seemed kind of surprised to see Rimuto down there. Maybe there was a translation error and she was really talking about being the only one from that land to kill those monsters?

I think this just got canceled...

These guys don't think so.

http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showthread.php?p=1986077

My perspective is that "Claymore" that focused on these guys is ending. Perhaps a new series will start up that takes on a new protagonist in the major war that's going on, with the Claymore characters joining in later as some side/secondary characters.

That, or like Y/DBZ reckons, they're having a sequel. The change of name can indicate that the girls no longer call themselves Claymores (not that they ever really did, but they refuse to be acknowledged as such now?)

Random parasite coming out of Descendents of Dragons is kinda... eh?

So these dragon fellows can irreversibly transform. (I can't remember if they lose their minds when they do).

Mixing the flesh of a transformed and original DoD yields a parasite that lives through (and feeds on) humans.

Claymores are made by inserting Youma flesh into the girls... so does this flesh actually contain any parts or consciousness of the parasite? You re-establish the urge to eat humans after you awaken, but that's only after you reach a threshold.. before which you can still benefit from an increase in power without disastrous side effects (until you reach 80% output - after which the output involuntarily rises until the 100% awakening threshold).

The Youma thing is easy enough to deal with if you just swallow it.. but the creation of Claymores themselves based on that same concept is pretty muddy still.

Hm, I actually don´t see the problem. Youma are created by being infected from the parasite, which grants them super-human power. To fight Youma, Claymores insert part of a Youma inside themselves to gain access to these powers. However, the Youma-flesh doesn´t lose its infected effect, so over time, the Claymores go nuts. In which case they´re asking another warrior to kill them.

Of course, the whole procedure is weird.

The problem I have, mainly, is that the parasite sounds like it's a little man inside your brain, as opposed to some infective, dispersed bacteria that evenly distributes itself throughout the flesh.

Ah well. Given the types of explanations we've been given thus far, I doubt I'll get a Pathophysiology of Youma Extra Chapter..

Raki can take it like a man! It seems he had even more sympathy for the little ones after seeing it, as well. I hope he grabs a sword from somewhere before leaving, though. There should be plenty lying around the organization's HQ. A buff dude like that looks more natural carrying a blade rather than going unarmed.

I think that's symbolic more than anything else. Clare was to take a piece of Teresa with her on her quest to find/follow a Man-in-Black. The head would be the thing that'd symbolise Teresa the most during that journey. Teresa's head was also conveniently lying on the ground. Had Clare tried to use anything else instead she would have had to hack away at Teresa's body.

And that's not to say they even used her whole head. Subs/scans generally use "flesh", though it might not necessarily exclude bones/skulls in the native Japanese context.

A face surely would be the creepiest choice, so in that sense it would make sense if the author wanted to go for the biggest shock effect. I don't know how much sense it would make, though. Why would a face need to show outward, logically thinking? The organization's purpose wasn't to torture girls/women but to develop weapons for their own country.

From what we've seen so far, belly lines seem to be OK. So it's unlikely guts are exposed. The same goes for the face idea.
Unless of course their clothes are tailored so that it fills any holes in their body to hide them. Then again, it didn't show when the clothes were thorn appart.
Also, Deneve did not reveal her pubian area and breasts seem to be OK too.

So it's all in the belly area, but you probably wouldn't notice it with clothes on. So it's probably a color/surface thing.

Heh, I also wondered what could be so shocking, when seemingly her tits are intact. Ever since the Theresa-flashback, where she was almost raped, I figured that Claymores don´t have proper breasts, but something disgusting in place. Tbh, let´s assume there´s a face somewhere under her tits ... would it be so utterly disgusting? I dunno. THAT it is a face in/on their belly, is kinda obvious. Though, one could argue it´s too obvious, so it´ll be something entirely else.

Using the "too obvious"-argument, I´d guess that it´s not a face below the Claymores´ tits, but something objectively disgustingly looking. Maybe some kind of pulsing magic-rotting flesh combination. Maybe a black hole. Whatever.

I genuinely don't think they know who she is, and it's not THAT ridiculous. Clare would always be vague and standoffish about her objectives, and Priscilla was never mentioned alongside the other super strong awakened beings like the Abyssal Ones, Rigaldo etc. I think they suppressed the incident and basically no one would connect this super strong awakened with the former #2 (and keep in mind not even the people on the Teresa assassination mission knew who Priscilla was until introduced to her).

But, yes, of course it's just a setup not to say "Priscilla is evil" in front of Raki, I just think the author played fair in doing so.

Raki might have cried like a little boy again, but otherwise he was quite a determined mofo who pulled it off on his own. I suppose there's an tiny chance they have an idea Raki could pull off. Well, yes. Riful is an abyssal one and with Duff's power she should be stronger than what she was before. The question is how exactly that happened. Did she just unconsciously do the same thing with Duff that the entity was trying to do with Priscilla?

I like the design of the new Octavia chick. That's all I have to say about this chapter thus far.

too much like isley and the archer demon guy from berserk, 6/10.
I think that the Vaggie rope girl has a much better design.

So...since those three claymore got resurrected with that help of that hand of Priscilla. And now it overrides their personality and eventually they also become Priscilla? Well shit.

Yeah.

And now I'm failing to see what the point of all this is. Pricilla wasn't in need of a powerup or anything.. now they just had to make her god.

Then there's that speech about offensive/defensive types, but the hatred of youma ends up enhancing regeneration.. ??

After this chapter I'm inclined to think that hatred could as well be called willpower or single-minded faith in their purpose. Regeneration itself seems to be recreation, or to be more specific, turning their will (imagination) into a physical form. I guess regular awakened beings, let alone claymores, aren't insane enough to be able to pull off such recreation, perhaps because they subconsciously think it shouldn't be possible. But once you get insane enough, there are no inhibitions.

Looks like the yoma are spiritual beings, unrestricted by flesh. So, they can take any shape at will. In fact it has made sense from the beginning since the first lousy yoma were petty monsters that took the shape of a person and infiltrated human societies. For some reason they just never went much farther than that. Maybe it's due to the organization.

I thought they explained earlier that Youma didn't actually transform into humans, but rather the parasite invades the human's mind and controls them until they've had their fill and feel like going to a new host.

At this point I'm not all that fond of the whole Pricilla storyline anymore, and would rather they move onto the bigger picture of figuring out how the claymores would fit in with the war that's been waging.

Looks like Priscilla just awakened the Izanagi-power of her Mangekyou Sharingan :/

Oh. I was remembering it was the other way around. It has been too long and with only a chapter a month, I forget what little I might otherwise remember. Well, then my theory isn't worth so much.

Pretty much sums up how I feel.

But about the whole Priscilla parasitic cell division cloning thing; I think its just so claire and those people have a battle with mini priscilla that will put them on the same page as the actual Priscilla or at least close enough not to get curb stomped immediately.
