I think you misinterpret the point of the show. Both of them have pretty much known all along that they other one likes them. The conflict is getting the other to admit it first.

It doesn't matter how "obvious" it becomes. Until one of them confesses, the struggle continues.

Is that true? If so I take back my criticism. Always thought they didn't know about each other's feelings for them.
