No one's ever seen Metal Knight either, even if his voice sounds nothing like the doctor.
I also just re-watched all the OVAs. King Engine is so funny knowing he's pissing himself behind that poker face.

King's design is so great. Been waiting for him since I started reading the manga.
Episode 2
I'm thrilled how packed this epsiode was with fights.
Though I'm a bit disappointed in the animation so far. But Seaon 1 did set the bar super high.
I just hope that we get some better/more detailed animated fights later on.... but I have to say, I kinda doubt it - I think the style changed more to stills and basically "manga images"?
Perhaps the producer decided to rely on characters this time. Let's hope some extra budget was reserved for really important fights. I'm not particularly worried so far. I'm enjoying this, especially Fubuki's scenes. She might not be exactly what I was expecting, I thought she had more pride, but I hope she brings something a little different to Saitama's surroundings.
I hope Blizzard DOES join their group, because Saitama's circle of friends is a real sausage-fest so far.
It seems as far as the hero association as a whole goes, the ratio of guys to girls is at least 10:1, so it would only take one for Saitama to break those odds.
I'll admit, I laughed the fuck out of the side to side hops from Saitama.
"Saitama-sensei attracts strong people" -while King of all people drops over.
The comedy is great as usual.
I expected Fubuki to have more integrity to balance out her brat sister, but it turns out she's just hot.
I'm sure Tornado does just fine with a certain other demographic...
King is always great. Polar opposite of Saitama. Weak but gets all of the recognition. Yet...nobody not even the top heroes knows he is weak. Well..besides Saitama now :P
I'm kinda curious how long it will be before rumors start that Saitama steals power from those around him. :p
Also, lol Bald Cape.
That's just stealing credit though.
I mean people thinking he's actually stealing power.
Like they'll see King get beat easily, and then Saitama will win, and they'll be like "He must have stolen King's strength! That's why he hangs out with King and Band and Genos!"
New ep out.
Watch.
Enjoy.
No spoilers :p
This episode was worth a banana.
I admit I laughed when Saitama was only talking to the wig, and took down Garo on the side randomly, due to the misunderstanding.
Nice episode, and I like the pace so far.
That ending was was awesome :). The one after the ending song even more. Nice voice acting there.
This show is bananas.
One of the things I like in this show the most is that the higher ranking heroes (b+) can actually do something. They have interesting abilities, even if they get the defeated a lot and easily in this show (for obvious reasons), they'd be some decent and interesting enemies/sidecharacters/main characters in some other shows. They use tricks, they act on their enemie's mistakes, they communicate with each other etc. etc.
"I don't wear this tank top to fight other humans." I wanna believe in the power of the tank top.
So is Garo going to be obsessed with Bald Cape now too? Isn't Saitama too busy playing games with King and fondling Hurricane's boobs to bother with more stalkers?
I mean, Saitama pawned an alien demi-god last season. Who even expects anything will be a challenge for him after that?
For all his talk about being a monster, it doesn't seem like Garo ever actually kills anybody.
Anyway, the idea of Saitama being in a shonen tournament arc is hilarious. I hope this proves entertaining.
I also was thinking about how Garo does not kill anyone.
We also understand with that ep that he is very strong and talented, but not over the top yet.
I also want to know how he wakes up after being oneshot by a small unmuscular baldy with a "oppaļ" shirt :D
Hahaha, he just took out the big bad while shopping. OPM will be OPM.
re: Garo killing - Garo chopped off the hands of one of the A-rank dudes in the initial "Ruffians Meeting". Without immediate and proper medical care that guy would be pretty dead.
As for Garo, he's almost Saiyan-like. He learns to adapt to people who "nearly kill him" and grow strong.Quote:
Garo]I also want to know how he wakes up after being oneshot by a small unmuscular baldy with a "oppaļ" shirt
As for "attitude"-wise, he'll now be learning through the tournament that Silverfang's prised student Charanko beat the shit out of him. xD
One of the OVAs hinted at Bang being super fast - faster* than Saitama when he's somewhat pissed off. It'll be interesting to see Saitama get a bit more of a challenge when this guy is actually fast enough to land hits that might be "annoyingly painful".
* - I don't actually believe anyone to be faster than Saitama if he's super serious.
I also just bothered to read the credits and the studio's changed from Madhouse to JC Staff. Considering that, season 2's appearance has held up surprisingly well.
The Sword disciple of Atom-Samurai lost an entire arm and didn't really care about it.
Getting the shit beaten out of them is no problem for superheroes.
Bicycle Guy is more or less a normal dude and should have died a thousand deaths already.
We can be pretty certain that unless they say "I've killed him" or something like that, that everyone is absolutely fine... or at least survived the battle, wether they are crippled afterwards is another story.
Though I have to say, this season is really bloody so far.
It was also funny to me how Blizzard didn't even seem to, like, ask permission to hang out or anything.
Like if she just doesn't leave, she'll be included in the group by default. :p
Any hot woman is a welcome addition to a sausage party.
In fact, OPM's greatest weakness is not having more women.
No one understands that it is the rich nutrition content of bananas that gave Bald Cape his power and the color of his costume. He actually looks like a peeled banana with that bald head.
One thing bothered me:
Saitama knocked out Garou with a punch - when was it established that Saitama can hold back enough to not insta-kill someone?
Huh? He's not in a habit of killing random humans. He only one punch kills monsters. If his touch was an obligatory disaster, he wouldn't be able to live a normal life at all. In reality he can even play video games without destroying the controller, most of the time. It's no problem for him to knock someone out if he can judge the correct amount of force needed. Of course that's the difficult part, but looking at his expression, I don't think he really cares. Perhaps he simply judged that the dude must be able to stand a bit more force than what he himself used against Saitama and went with that.
And it was a chop though, nipticking a bit I know...
If he had punched him, he would've gotten blown away. A chop is just enough to move him from the path to the wig.
Saitama can restrain himself if he wants to. He blew off that hammerhead guy's robotic armor back in season 1 without harming him. He also knocked out Sonic on a few occasions.
Considering he has his Serious Series...yes...he can hold back quite well.
Ok, thx. I kinda had in my head that part of Saitama's problems was that he's too strong and always kills enemies in one blow.
It is a part of his problems. He got bored of fights because they pose no challenge for him. When he knows he can end every fight with a single punch, it doesn't really matter if he can hold back and not do it. If it's a fight, that is. Obviously something like dealing with a strange dude getting between him and a wig isn't a fight at all as far as he's concerned.
That IS his problem, as he states it.
But he seems unwilling to handicap himself against monsters to make the fights more interesting.
Although maybe that's some actual righteousness from him. i.e. "I'd LIKE to hold back and make this fight more fun, but these are monsters that kill people so I won't."
It wouldn't really make it any more interesting. Even if he handicapped himself somehow (which he actually practically does all the time since he doesn't need to go all out), it would be meaningless as he would still know he can end the fight any time he wants (he doesn't even rely on a weapon he could leave home to weaken himself). It would be just poor taste with the opponent still fighting for their life. It's only a bit more meaningful, and thus interesting, if he's fooling around with a friendly person like Genos, as he could derive from satisfaction from seeing the opponent's progress and innovation. Kind of a like a good teacher would be happy when seeing the students thrive.
Yeah, it's the adrenaline of a hard-won fight that Saitama misses the most. Holding back doesn't really make it more enjoyable for him.
Ep 4

With Saitama as the main character, it can be hard to remember some monsters can actually be truly challenging for S class heroes as well. Saitama then needs to find his challenges elsewhere, like from trying to impersonate others against the rules. That's pretty challenging alright.
Ugh. Wasn't a bad episode, but I reeeeaallly wanna see Saitama fight in that tournament
If I had to fight that centipede in Darksouls, I'd shit myself.
That's a cool design.
That was so unsatisfying. I wanted to watch Saitama beat some people up.
Garo doesn't even remember Saitama, as if it never happened.
Lemme check the manga and get back to you on that bet.
don't do it
But 2B is too powerful, making dicing up enemies like that easy.
I know the whole thing is off-topic, but I picked Darksouls because of the controls, movement and the general gloomy atmosphere that game has
A monster like that with it's head/face - on top of the "other head" would fit so well in that game.
The great serpent in Sekiro is certainly scary too.
Ep 5

Looks like we might get Lost Child in the next episode, if the last frame of the video is anything to go by. Jolly good. Although it's a pity she won't be meeting Saitama, who's busy with the farce tournament. I wonder how long it will take until Fubuki really witnesses Saitama's regular combat power. I almost wrote real power, but... yeah.
Another filler episode :/ was almost as bad as hero academia. Can we pls focus on the tournament and Saitama?
The tournament is actually far less interesting than what is going on outside of it.
We get to see all these funny heroes and S class fights are pretty cool compared to Saitamas one punches.
I wonder how much "extra time" was added during Season 1's Saitama fights.
If I go by how this series is portrayed I feel like Season 2 is more true to who Saitama is.
Metal Bat is pretty awesome, kinda sad they fucked that fight up with so many E.Honda scenes.
The ones with individual swings and hits/kicks looked quite well done.
And what do you call the characters in the tournament? Lul
I don't think they are all uninspired either.
Only the lower class ones are.
The S Class ones are all pretty cool. Garo is the main character of this arc, too and he's walking around outside.
I just wish that the tournament wouldn't exist - or be canceled.
All the monster-slaying he could've done to gain recognition. Oh my. I guess that's part of the comedy.
I'm gonna actually agree with MFauli this time. I don't give a shit about this monster attack. I want to the see hijinks that ensue from Saitama actually being in a shounen tournament arc.
Actually, this content and pacing is pretty much exactly the same as it was in the manga. If anything, I'd say they need to add in some filler, because these scene transitions almost happen too fast to keep up with.
Also, while the stuff with monsters isn't as exciting with the tournament, it's pretty essential to this arc's storyline. Often, Saitama finds himself distracted by something which keeps him from pretty much instantly resolving whatever conflict is building up. This tournament is also one of those distractions.
I'm itching for more Saitama and feel trolled by the fact that the tournament isn't progressing faster than it is, but that's kinda the joke and I'm okay with that.
The whole monster thing is interesting in that they obviously have a greater goal, with each individual monster seemingly aspiring and caring about progressing through their "ranks" / threat level. It ties into the whole point of Garo believing that monsters are sentient beings worth empathising with.
I also like the fact that heroes want to climb ranks/classes like monsters want to climb threat levels.
Then there's Saitama who doesn't care:cool:
i think the animation really took a deep dive this episode... mouths not moving when there's audio, fights not being animated, etc.

Did Saitama eat something he shouldn't have?
*sigh* Genos got Genosed again....
I hate that Fubuki's and Tatsumaki's names are translated.
I also dislike it, but I guess it was done to be consistent. They are the hero nicknames, like Saitama's Bald Cape, or whatever it was. Genos was Demon Cyborg, if I remember correctly. There would be lots of heroes whose hero names would be meaningless to non-Japanese speakers if they were left untranslated. Honestly, if I had needed to make a professional decision about it, I might have gone with translations as well. It's a tough spot to be in.
This.
What are you just gonna gonna leave Saitama's superhero name as Hagemanto, so that nobody gets the joke?
If it were their real names, I could see leaving them untranslated, but if they're their superhero names, there's no reason to translate everyone else's names and not theirs.
Japanese names many times have meanings beyond the name intrinsically, do you suggest then that all names should be translated? As I said above, it's one thing when it's merely a hero name, but when it serves double duty as a name + hero name, then the best course of action is to leave it as is (and have a note explaining the name when introduced) and use the translation when the full alias is used.
the openning shows the hero names in english, so saitama gets Hagemanto and they get fubuki and tatsumaki. it's just weird because we don't know their real names.
i feel that they missed some parts from the manga here, where genos beating the monsters matches the way each non-important match is won. and we also lost a bit of characterization for some of the other fighters..
In season one they kept "Mumen Rider," though the joke doesn't really translate well without context regardless. Mumen Rider is a play off "Kamen Rider," a famous superhero series in Japan. It also literally means "Licenseless Rider," hence why he rides a bike to get around.
And I agree with you. The problem is, a bunch of people in this thread are just assuming that Fubuki and Tatsumaki are their real names, when there's nothing to suggest that's the case.
If they were also their real names, than that would make their superhero names the equivalent of "Tina of Terror" and "Betty of Hell".
We know Genos and Saitama's real names, but outside of that, pretty much every other hero goes by their superhero name, and there's no reason to think these two are any different, but a bunch of you are for some reason.
so wait, is bang a real name? because his hero name is silverfang...
then is blast related to bomb and bang?
So, do the sisters call each other by hero name all the time? Nah.
Tsumaki would be a nickname then, because her title is something-something-Tsumaki
Fubiki's hero name is something something-Fubiki
I think Bang is Silverfang's real name.
I don't know if Krayz intentionally got the sisters' names wrong or what.
Their names are written in katakana in the manga, which means they are their actual names. If those were only their hero names, it would've been written in kanji because they are Japanese words/titles.
Because Japanese people sometimes just do that. Even if they are Japanese words, they would write them in katakana to distinguish them from other names that sound the same. Remember Light? His name was written in Kanji (tsuki, meaning moon), but they put the katakana Raito on top. Wacky things like that can and do happen. They would only do that for people's names though, which confirms that Tatsumaki and Fubuki are their actual names.
From wikipedia:
Japanese names (日本人の氏名 Nihonjin no Shimei) in modern times usually consist of a family name (surname), followed by a given name. More than one given name is not generally used. Japanese names are usually written in kanji, which are characters usually Chinese in origin but Japanese in pronunciation. The kanji for a name may have a variety of possible Japanese pronunciations, hence parents might use hiragana or katakana when giving a birth name to their newborn child.
Light is a very bad example for your argument, because 月 doesn't convey the 'raito' pronounciation at all. It's basically a singular jukujikun ( https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/jukujikun ), aka Light's parent's chose a kanji that somewhat shares the meaning, but is pronounced entirely differently from the kanji that's being used.
I'd wager Fubuki et al's names are written in katakana for stylistic reasons more than anything else. I dunno, are they even Japanese in-anime? If not, it could be a way to give them a more international aura.
I used Light as an example because it shows that parents can and do stuff like that when naming their children, which includes relatively less crazy actions like using katakana or hiragana to name your child.
It's a lot more likely that the names are their real names because they are in katakana (because I repeat, people do that quite a bit in Japan) versus doing it for stylistic reasons. When you write a Japanese word in Japanese media, you will use kanji (with hiragana as furigana for works with younger audiences), not katakana. That just doesn't happen. I can't think of an example for it, at least.
It would make even less sense to use katakana if they are just hero names/titles, because hero names are given to convey a trait of the hero him/herself, which are encapsulated in the kanji (because 2 words can sound the same but mean different things in Japanese, kanji prevents confusion due to that). If you write that in katakana, you rob the meaning from the hero name/title, weakening or even negating its function.
And to drive my point home that Hurricane and Tornado are bad choices for their names, Fubuki is NOT even Hurricane. It's Blizzard... Those 2 things are very different.
What shinta says makes complete sense though.
Woops ignore the hurricane comment. It was due to a bad wiki search.
Either way, "usually" versus "extremely uncommon to never" is an easy choice.
*shrug*
It seems consistent with the rest of the series to me, so I'm fine with it the way they're doing it.
I don't still understand it. They are Japanese words, so they should be written in hiragana if they aren't written in kanji (or if it's a chuuni kanji that nobody knows how to pronounce). However, if it's something fancy like a hero name, it would make sense they could use katakana since it's apparently used to mimic the Western italic effect, special effects, robot voice, and such things. So, to make it mark an artificial name, like a hero name, would be highly natural.
I guess I just can't understand it because I haven't much studied the Japanese language.
In any case, both sisters take their hero business far too seriously, so it wouldn't surprise me if once upon the time, when they were born, they were given regular Japanese names, but later they changed their actual names in the government citizen register into their hero names. So, Fubuki and Tatsumaki would be both their real names and their hero names.
I'll just have to wait until I see a flashback of them interacting as kids before they became heroes and see if they still call each other that.
Episode 7

Yeah, a pretty good analysis. Maybe Saitama should actually do it. He would look cooler defeating monsters when people or cameras are present to see it. His first attempt was only so-so, though.
He bummed out his oponent ;)
Now we are waiting for more action.
Nice episode. Although i feel a bit sorry for the other finalist, because he *is* strong. Just not cartoonishly strong like Saitama.
The final fight was awesome, I loved it when he pointed out that Saitama was clever for "protecting" his head.
They should've added more jokes for the semi-finals though, that was somewhat tedious/boring to watch
The most interesting scene goes to the small bit about the monster-cells.
