What a delightfully vulgar episode. Ilya's true self reveals itself! Ruby is also worse than ever. Poor Miyu, she doesn't deserve this abuse.
I think Miyu deserves it, and even likes it.
And then the end of the ep rubs it the wrong way.
Aren't they running through the servant classes pretty fast? There's only Berserker left now, right? But then again, this is only 10 eps long, so maybe the pace is correct as there appeared complications once again in the relationship between Ilya and Miyu. Maybe Miyu will get her ass kicked by Berserker, trying to defeat him alone, and she must make up with Ilya for the final battle.
Miyu was unfair to Ilya.
After all, as clever as she is portrayed, she was not able to see her friend/comrade had been hit with a poison blade. Even Rin was not able to think quickly enough.
Miyu could always say that it was Ilya's fault for not being able to guard herself from the blade, but Miyu did fail before and Ilya helped her.
In the end, everyone else left Ilya alone in a deadlock where she was about to lose her life. Or at least she clearly believed that would happen. Then a self preservation mechanism created that explosion to wipe everything around so that she survives. Of course that might have killed the others. But they had abandonned her to die by then, so they can't be all that mean again after the fact. Unless they really don't care about her.
I felt like Miyu was less angry that Ilya was struck by a blade when her guard was down, and more angry about the fact that Ilya has zero control over her new strength now that her own prana has awakened or whatever. Ilya is a huge risk to fight with if she will seemingly randomly lose control and nuke the surrounding area. Just as bad, when she installed Archer, Ilya was rather berserk and probably wouldn't concern herself too much with allies' safety.
Miyu could have been nicer about it, but her concerns are valid ones. Ilya is so strong now that she nearly killed the three of them just by letting go. Miyu's guard couldn't even block all of it. They were rushing in to save her, and literally in a blink of an eye, Ilya's power exploded.
Look at Miyu's face as Ilya is flying away. She regretting the tone she used right away.
Concerning their magical girl style, Miyu is all about logic and control, Ilya is all about images and fantasy, so it's quite understandable Miyu would time after time find it hard to accept Ilya as her fighting partner. In accordance with what Ryll said, I think Miyu also wanted to remove Ilya from the fighting for Ilya's own sake (fearing Ilya would be a danger to her own life as well, not just the others'). It's quite a wornout cliche, but they are little girls, so it would be fitting. Not to mention Miyu is socially awkward even during her best moments.
It might just be my cynicism but I felt that part of the reason Miyu acted like that was because of jealousy towards her obviously superior ally. Illya might suck at control right now, but that is only right now.
It's true she has been jealous from the moment Ilya could immediately fly without even trying and being able to turn into a mini-Archer probably didn't help. However, I'd like to think it wasn't that envy which make her push Ilya away, although it definitely added colour her harsh words. But if it was the main reason, it would make her not only evil but also foolish. Neither really sits well with my image of her. As I perceive her as the emotionally stunted and intelligent type, I will trust she had a valid reason. Acting out of a petty feeling primarely would remove her logical mindset completely.
I got jealousy vibes off of Miyu during her speech as well, though I think they were probably well under the surface for her. On the top layer I agree with Ryll that she has valid points about the problems Illya presents to team combat, however the obvious 'logical' solution to having an undisciplined powder keg of raw talent as a partner is not to throw them away but to help train them to control themselves and be more wary. Especially when it's been made clear in the last two fights that Miyu can't get the job done on her own while Illya can get it done with no sweat when she cuts loose, though she lacks control when operating at the necessary level to get cards. Unfortunately, Miyu doesn't seem to want to admit that she's totally outclassed by both Illya and the latest cards, so a Gilgamesh beat down is probably going to be necessary to give her a wakeup call.
I'm not so sure about that. Miyu strikes me as an overly self-reliant character. It was a struggle for her to even accept Ilya's (admittedly useless) training on how to fly. She's living with Luvia in the mansion, but she's earning her keep by playing elementary school maid.Quote:

Miyu is so socially inept that I very much doubt trying to train Ilya would even visit her mind. It doesn't probably help her master is the uber ojousama character, who ought to possess an air of self-reliance. But if she was hanging between two choices, there likely was enough muddy feelings inside of her to tip the scales toward the choice we saw.
Yeah, Miyu is a very crappy friend, she's probably never had a friend before I can understand her behavior, but still, I don't like bad friends. I look forward to seeing Berserker or someone beat some humility and appreciation for other people into her. There doesn't seem to be any mature force in the show that could guide both wayward magical girls towards strengthening the respective weaknesses in their characters so they're going to have to learn to get along since they cover each others flaws so well.
Haha, yeah. They have such splendid examples of more mature magical girls in Rin and Luvia: Those two spend 90% of time warring so fiercely with each other that even the staves left them. Who knows, Miyu, being so overserious, might have interpreted the relationship between those two so that magical girls are always meant to compete with each other aggressively, never cooperate and be friends unless their very lives are in danger.Quote:

Anime has taught me that if Miyu is too harsh, it really means that she's too kind hearted, bawwwh. Luvia took her in when she had nowhere to go, so she undoubtedly has a tragic past!

I hope Miyu really gets her ass kicked by Berserker and needs to crawl to Ilya to beg for help. After the previous episode I was fooling myself thinking Miyu might have been worried about Ilya, but it's now clear she in fact detests her. I guess it won't end up like that and instead Ilya will run to help Miyu of her own volition, maybe after receiving a heart-warming, if airheaded, lecture from her milf of a mother (blessed be this series to have her appear at last). But nevertheless Miyu needs to get some of her blood spilled to drop her down from her high horse.
I got a feeling Shirou isn't 100% compatible with the maids... Just the fact he has a cooking duty despite there being two maids serving such a small family in an ordinary sized house reveals he doesn't know how to deal with them.
Shirou likes to cook.

Don't you remember the first episode? Sella is really pissed that Shirou does the housework when it is her and Liz's sworn sacred duty to perform all the work, not that Liz does any of it unless she's in the mood.Quote:

There's a slight difference between Sella complaining to Shirou that he does too much and now Shirou mentioning it's his turn this time to cook food. I think the normal situation would be the maids having solid turns to make food and the masters of the house only preparing dinner irregularly whenever it happens to strike their fancy (if they have such hobbies). Well, of course we are talking about Shirou here, so I reckon he might actually feel bad for the maids (even though they are doing their fricking job) and thinking he must let them rest sometimes. That would be just like Shirou who always believes he knows what's best for everyone.Quote:
