Episode 3 - X_X
The subbers are pretty bad I have to say. They translated "Omoi" as Slow not once, but twice and other random tidbits of mistakes.
This anime continues to be one of my favourite series this year. For those fans put off by the first episodes I assure you it gets better, there is no real fan-service following the hot springs trip just classic Minami-ke at its best.
In my opinion the best subbers for the second season are Aho-Neko Subs. There releases are clean without typos, they use a decent font, high quality raws and the dialogue flows nicely; (although as a native English speaker without knowledge of the Japanese language I can not comment on its accuracy).
Aho-Neko Minami-ke Okawari releases:

Minami-ke Okawari - 06 - [Aho-Neko]
Needs more Hosaka. Ep 5 had one of the GARiest scenes ever.
episode 6 seemed toooo "serious" for me.... where was the funny part?
where is hosaka?
and where is ninomiya kun?
What happened to the MInami-ke Love....
I mean you're all missing out on stuff like this... (NSFW)
and this ...(Not Safe For Masculinity)
Minami-ke Okawari - 09 - [Aho-Neko]
Older eps:
Minami-ke Okawari - 07 - [Aho-Neko]
Minami-ke Okawari - 08 - [Aho-Neko]
This season's just not as good as the first season.
ya they are pretty much boring... i laugh now and then but not as much as i did in the first season... however i ll download it for Hosaka's sake
edit: ok episode 8 was very good (not because of the fan services) "mokiyo.... SHOOJUUU"
lets see how episode 9 will turn out to be
edit2:
well 9 was so boring that i can't even remember what happened while i logged into my account and started to write this sentence :(
there was one scene however which made me laugh again, thx to hosaka...
"am i to eat or to be eaten?" - "to eat i guess" - "i see" *OK GIVE ME THATLUNCHBOX*
or
*undressing* SENSEI- WHAT SHALL I DO?! *scary look* " fasten your tie" - "YES SENSEI!"
I wonder what this season lacks though... Could it be simply the material? Or that we have gotten used to the characters? I particularly dislike anything that involves the small glasses nerd. If I had to point to what makes this season not as good as S1 it would be him.
I always thought that the script for this season wasn't done by the author for the manga, considering the fact that the original manga was 4koma style and the first season followed that short story/skit format. Maybe he really did the writing, but it just doesn't seem as good.
season 2 seems to have a real story... maybe its just my imagination but kana + this guy seem to get more and more closer
and season 1 was more carefree and simply made for laughter.
kana's stupidity isn't as big as it was in season 1 in my eyes.. sure, season 2 is funny too (for example when kana thought that her little sister browsed for porns and so on) but it misses funny story elements, for example: WHERE IS NINOMIYA KUN!? and the linen-cloth festival?
and i don't know how to describe it, but you probably remember when kana got her first love letter and thought it was a challange (she's jumping and moving like a boxer around that banchou guy :P), something like this doesn't happen anymore in season 2 , it seems to be more about fanservice etc. :( ah ye, and it lacks "hosaka" its always good when he shows up, but in season 2 it just happened recently in the last episode where he got told to dress himself properly by the teacher, which was funny as hell because hosaka gets so serious when he talks about haruka ^^
I agree with KrayZ33 completely. I remember each and every one of those moments of the show vividly due to their jocular nature. Those little moments of the show are what made it hilarious; Without them there is too much seriousness, which is why it doesn't have the levity it should.
Btw, we are also missing the minami brothers' discussions.
Season 3 Okaeri - Episode 1 by Chihiro
Looks like the Minami brothers are back from the looks of the OP. I'll probably follow all the episodes anyways even though season 2 wasn't all that great. Can't go wrong with more Hosaka anyways.
It wasn't a bad episode. Quite good actually. And fortunately I yesterday bought satsumas. It would have been annoying to watch this episode without any at hand.
It's good the dudes keep visiting the girls. It makes the series work somehow better. I wonder if Hosaka will get any further, though. His joke is a solid one, I suppose, even if it developed nowhere.
Surprise Surprise Chihiro releases a set of v2's...
Minami-ke Okaeri - 01v2 (XviD) - [Chihiro]
Minami-ke Okaeri - 01v2 (H.264) - [Chihiro]
Fortunately Ayako comes through with something I'd be willing to even download.
Minami-ke Okaeri - 01 (H.264) - [Ayako]
Minami-ke Okaeri - 01 (XviD) - [Ayako]
Episode 2 - Chihiro XviD
You complete me Hosaka.
Devil Chiaki is hot.
I was suspecting to see Kana's, only they would both be devils.
What the title says. I know there is little chance pairing will ever come to fruition in this show, but it should be quite interesting to see everyone's favorite pairing. Please post which pairing you voted for and why.
This is not an En Fuego series. Keep discussions of the series in the appropiate thread
EDIT: Scratch this post. It's pointless without a poll.
Minami-ke Okaeri - 02 (Ayako)
Minami-ke Okaeri - 03 (Ayako)
someone please update the releases, I'm way too important to do that myself normally :P
(will download them tomorrow so no comment to the eps yet)
Is nobody watching this anymore?
the last 3 episodes were great..

I surely am watching. This feels like a jolly good season, better than the second one.
It also makes me happy Fujioka is getting decently screen time. He's a cool guy (though obviously not as cool as Hosaka, but that would be asking for the impossible anyway). I don't much care for Mako/Makoto, which feels like a really stretched joke already, but even he has a few good screnes.
I like Natsuki from the Minami-brothers, hesis really funny . In my opinion he is Hosaka's archrival
in terms of comedy and maybe even in love!
and his "interaction" with that Hitomi-girl was really cute too ^^
"Those eyes of Natsuki...it's like they saw the light of hope!"
well the problem is that he doesn't get into situations like Touma does ^^ (with Fujioka for example when they played that tag-"game")Quote:

Hosaka's extra delusion:
Minami-ke OAD - gleam
- - - - - - - - - -
Edit: I liked this ova. It pretty much collaged most central elements of the series, and so while it presented little totally new, it covered many of the elements, which make Minami-ke a jolly good series. Hosaka's delusions included. I guess one novel element actually was Fujioka getting Valentine chocolate from Kana - even if it was half by accident as Kana didn't remember it was Valentine's day, and just gave them as food to him. A scene of Chiaki sitting in Fujioka's lap also warms my mind every time.
BSS has been recently doing a great service to the cultural heritage by releasing some Minami-ke extra material:
Minami-ke Drama CD - 1 - BSS
Minami-ke Drama CD - 2 - BSS
Minakike Net Radio clip - BSS
- - - - - - -
The first drama CD clip was somewhat dull in my opinion but the second one is great. However, the radio thing is the best of these three. It's basically Chiaki's VA ordering food using Chiaki's voice. That was great. I don't know how genuine it was (if she really ordered food or if it was just a studio stunt) but it was great nonetheless.
I enjoyed how you could just catch hints of all kinds of their various characters' voices in the other two as they were laughing while Chihara ordered. I love Rina Satou's laugh.Quote:

A scan from Weekly Young Magazine, the magazine in which the Minami-ke manga runs, has confirmed that a fourth season is in the works. This follows hints last year of a fourth season from a bonus track on the character song CD bundled with the ninth manga volume.
For me personally this is the best news since... Fate Zero news or something. Minami-ke is my favourite slice of life show, despite the highly fluctuating and generally not too smooth art.
fuck yeah!
I still have to watch the third though, I believe I stopped somewhere in the middle (for no reason)
The third season was better than the weakest second season, so there's no reason you shouldn't be able to finish it.
I honestly can't remember what events occurred in the second and third seasons. The first season was great, the latter two were a huge disappointment. They've blurred together in my head as a mutual slog to get through.
Which one had the annoyingly depressing neighbor boy whom Chiaki hated? That was the worst one.
wow this is good news... last i remember of this show are the 3 brothers I think...
Minami-ke Omatase OVA - Ahodomo
Quite a nice Minami-ke ova. It had all the usual elements including a couple of scenes of Hosaka to ice the cake.
Season 4, Episode 1 - UTW
- -- - - - --
I didn't foresee UTW choosing to sub this show, considering how the earlier seasons always seemed to struggle with the lack of even remotely quality translations. But with UTW in, there's no such worry anymore.
Quite a conservative start, even though they introduced a new character right off the bat. Or at least I have no recollection of this Miyuki. It was good to watch Minami-ke again, but perhaps I failed to follow Chiaki's advice and expected far too much out of it. This was never that sort of a story, in the end, which is one of its charms. So, perhaps this kind of a beginning is better than bringing out the big guns like Hosaka right away. The correct way is to first get into the Minami-ke mood and then get things really rolling. Though I was always a fan of the Fujioka-Chiaki interaction, so that scene was a good one for me personally.
I think a new character like Miyuki is necessary. Kana is already somewhat pathetic enough as it is, leeching Chiaki's dumber friends or Touma as her own. Without Miyuki, Kana really just has Keiko (Fujioka doesn't count), and we all know that Keiko really just tolerates Kana. Sure, they all interact with each other's friends, but Kana needed another one her own age. Even so, Kana's attempts at manipulation by proxy have backfired, and she has created a monster who uses puppy eyes to get what she wants.
I had forgotten that Chiaki's angel side looks pretty much like she does but more polite, but her devil side is an adult with a chest the size of Haruka or slightly greater...and both of them usually come to the same evil conclusions.
I don't expect much out of this series, and they tell you not to anyway.
Minami-ke - Tadaima - 02[UTW]
-------------------
I'd be concerned that Chiaki is colorblind. Maybe...Kana should report that one to Haruka and make Chiaki go to the optometrist.
Also, holy crap can Touma sew! I never would have expected that out of the series tomboy.
She's not colour blind. She's simply looking at the world through half-closed eyes, like Kana puts it, paying the very minimum of attention to things. She could immediately tell something was wrong about Fujioka, but couldn't recall what it was, having removed all extra details from her mind.
Touma being so good at sewing was certainly a surprise. She must have had lots of experience doing it. Maybe because their mother is never at home and she needed to do it all by herself. But even so, she's still an elementary schooler, so there ought to be a limit to what she can accomplish.
Doesn't seem that way, when the three sisters showed her things out of magazines, she implied it wouldn't be difficult at all for her to make any of them. In fact, it would be easier than re-creating the bear from a pillow.
I bet she fixes all her brothers' clothes. Of course, the amusing part is that they don't acknowledge her exceptional sewing skills as a ladylike feature.
Wow... Haruka is a pure goddess and the girls in her class too :D
especially Hitomi with her crush on Natsuki and her ability to read his eyes like a book.
and is it just me, or did they really put much more effort in character animation/movement this time. that being said, I always liked the animation but this time it went up another notch
Hosaka still rules. There's no end to that dude's delusions. But yeah, I like Hitomi as well, and her special ability. Too bad Natsuki long ago joined Hosaka in the dreaming of Haruka club. But then again, this show never had a pair with shared love, except for Sensei and Ninomiya-kun.
Needed more Uchida. I know it was a Haruka/High Schoolers episode, but the small bit of Uchida was enough make me want more. Her stupidity is unparalleled. I greatly enjoyed the fact that they sincerely apologize to Yoshino (but not Chiaki). She is truly the shadow leader of their age bracket. She will even put Hayami to shame in the future, I'm sure.
Also very much enjoyed the return of Chiaki-sama, Goddess of the teru teru bozu.
Episode 5 - UTW
- - - - - -
While it's good to see Fujioka try to do something to get through Kana's wall of pure density, I can't help but wonder why he seeks help from Akira... Is it because he thinks Akira is on better terms with Kana? But even so he would be seeking assistance from someone he perceives to be a rival.
Aww man, to bad there is no real romance going on in this show
I liked the whole episode, but especially the Fujioka parts were very entertaining to watch
the first misunderstanding with mole-girl and Fujioka being a delinquent made my day
Minami-ke Tadaima - 08 [UTW]
--------
I must have the Barbecue insert song!
indeed.
both Oreshura and Minami-ke were fun to watch, had a really fun weekend
Hayami got her comeuppance. Still...this was a really bizarre episode.
And the eyecatch after the preview...
/shudders
So much Hosaka screentime is naturally a fairy recipe for bizarre scenes.
Too bad Hosaka didn't accept Natsuki's invitation. He has made such a profound impression on Chiaki that it alone would be of much help in socializing with the Minami family.
Just a little while ago, Minami-ke 9 came out
too bad this show has nothing "worth" discussing, even though the show is so great.
and damn, so many possible love-pairings, yet we'll probably never see a single one actually happening
Minami-ke OVA 2 Natsuyasumi - DameDesuYo (or alternative torrent.)
- - - -- -- - -
Quite a good Minami-ke ova/episode. I liked the fact it didn't unnecessarily try to stick only to the Minami girls due to being an isolated release (ova) but rather had a good variety of characters from the pool, including Hitomi. Naturally Hosaka also appeared. Can't have Minami-ke without Hosaka's earth-shattering presence, after all. Very well worth watching.
Edit: Oh, I almost forgot: There was quite a diabolic cameo in this one.
Marathonned Minamike. Word to self - hold your nose while watching on bus. This is to control fits of laughter.
Naturally Season 2 was the worst, as everyone found out. I quite liked Season 3. Narrative had a higher focus there and it felt like it was going somewhere. It also had the best OP song in the entire series. edit: maybe not. Listening to them back-to-back, Tadaima's sounds the most pleasing atm. ED is a toss-up between Okaeri and Tadaima.
The "bible black" faces never really made it back, but I don't mind that. I didn't think they really fit the series anyway. It also looked kinda weird/scary/unflattering.
NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT!Quote:
