That's my lab! The keyboards and the shelf full of speakers are just sort of leftover things from old computers that we didn't have anyplace else to stash.

The rack only has 5 systems in it. From top to bottom, they're a 1U dual xeon 3.0 (nocona) with 8 gigs of ram, a 4U dual 2.8 nocona with a gig of ram and a 1.1TB raid (scsi hotswap ftw), a 2U dual 3.06 xeon with 4gb, a 1U p4-2.4 with 512 megs that works as a very nice gigabit firewall, and a 1U black-bezeled xeon 2.8 that's fated to be an activedirectory domain controller and sharepoint server. The shelf's actually got 5 systems on it, plus the kvm, the keyboards you see, and around a dozen pairs of speakers.

But yeah, that's just work. We just don't really get rid of our old stuff, even when it's old and crappy and basically useless... my director and the lab manager are both kind of packrats.

My sister is 4 years younger than me, so it was always her stealing my clothes, not the other way around (except for the time I stole this awesome pair of pants from her, which I still have hehehe). Well, it was a pretty weird birthday...we partied first in..hell I don't even remember where we were, outside of St. Louis I guess and after a long story, I wasn't up for getting wasted by then (started out with 8 people that night, but went into the club with 3, myself included), and my best friend met some guy.

The next night we went to the U of I to party (better crowd this time) and it was much much better - and my friend met the same guy.

Like my sister says, I don't ever have normal stories - they're always strange.

see her again? of course. it's funny, she was always quiet one that never talked, but as soon as we got there, she seemed normal and seemed to have somewhat more to say than she usually does. but the thing that got me thinking is that it's been a while since someone made me laugh like the way i did, then i knew, she could be someone i would really want to get close to, especially that dance on the dance floor.. you all can call me innocent, naive, a fool, but i believe that moment meant something, not only to me, but to her as well.

Oh, it isn't just the dog - my grandfathers were all born in Bukovina, the last stop before Transilvania. We've all vampire blood running in our veins! That explains the beatuy, the geekiness and the surreal hatred for religion that we all share.

And my dog looks terrible there, I know =P she's actually cute (or was, she's almost nine years old, too old for cute) when she poses like the breed-dog she's supposed to be, but since she's also a complete hyperactive disaster there's no known way to get her to pose for more than .67 seconds.

Yup that's a neo print...... And yeah these things cost a bomb nowadays. Imagine putting in $10 in coins just to have a sheet of printed photos. But you should check out some of the new ones which are pretty innovative.

As for the naked blue thingy I had no idea what it meant too, but I have tons more of neo print photos.... :D

nah, i took that picture originally for my guildies (during a guild run if i remember correctly) because they wanted to see what i looked like normally while running around with them.

I've noticed a phenomenon. I call it the "asian girl victory/peace syndrome".

Apparently, asian girls can't have pictures taken without making hand symbols of some sort or another. And that symbol almost always ends up being that finger-v.

Take, for example:

When it's not that, it's still something. There's got to be a pose, and it's got to involve hands. In this case, it's a kung-fu girl pose, and it looks like it's just the spread-fingers motion away from being another classic-case:

There's a couple pictures WAY earlier in this thread that don't exhibit this phenomenon. For example, Honoko never does it, as far as I can tell. So it's not totally universal.

On the other hand, EVERY picture of an asian girl I have taken invariably winds up with that symbol, unless I ask them to specifically make some sort of face, or their hands are full. For example, here's a couple pics of my boss (the camera isn't kind to her, she looks a lot better in person) http://gallery.complich8.net/d/95-2/IMG_7102.jpg shows the standard pose, alone.

I've taken a dozen other pictures of this woman at various times, for various reasons, and every one of them adheres to the rule. Either she's got her hands full, or she's making a face (ie: angry face), or she's doing that.

But I swear, all four, on four different occasions, with four different pictures, that same "v" pose. Her flickr stream is all self-portraits, either on a timer or in a mirror, and she doesn't do it there. But every photo I've seen her in that wasn't taken by her follows the rule. Hands full, making a strange face, or "victory/peace".

I don't get it. What's up with this? It's got to be a cultural thing. Can anyone explain this phenomenon?

I think it's really just the equivalent of a thumbs up or something. But you're right, EVERY asian girl does it. Take these pictures from my recent visit to China for example:
