is there really a hidden sound villiage?

i mean i know orochimaru talks about it and everyone acknowledges it as if it exists but im wondering if its large enough to even be called a villiage? is orochimaru een in the right mind frame to control people on such a large scale as to run a villiage? I mean he is psychotic to a certain degree and is willing to kill off any of his subbordinates to further his personal gain.... not the gain of his villiage. so im really begining to wonder if it is a villiage or more like and ideal or title that orochimaru has forced on to his students.

what do you guys think?

you bring up some good points, from what we've seen it seems more of an ideal, a bunch of evil ninjas united under a single banner, i dont think its an actual village.

There is an actual (physical village i.e. place or residence), but it isn't recognized by the other main villages. That's how all villages starts though. Whether it be by a crazed man or a genious with a vision.

It must be "recognized by the other main villages" because they where alowed to participate in the chunnin exam as a village.. And they didnt even know Oro was the one running that place untill he told Anko..

We don't really have a clue as to whether it really exist or not... the only sound nin we've seen are Orochimaru, Kabuto, the sound trio in the chuunin exam, Jiroubo, Kidomaru, Sakon, Tayuya and Kimimaro. The ones that attacked the Leaf were mostly from the Sand... the Sound seemed to be more of a back-up.

So maybe it doesn't really exist and it was something of a facade Orochimaru used to infiltrate the Leaf, and the "village" is nothing but a cave in where Orochimaru trains his chosen few and keeps his prisioners.

...or the Village does exist, underground. I mean, why not? If the Village of the Waterfall was almost underwater or something....

Thats really interesting you know, most likely Orochimaru would be some sort of warlord ninja, where they protect neighbouring villages in turn they are fed. Probably might be a small village with about maybe a hundred ninja's. More like a bunch of nasty mercenaries ninjas IMO.

Unlike Leafs, big ninja town with civilians living in peace and ninja's around as their military.

not really true there were more sound nins, i mean we hardly saw any attacking nins. there were some sand nins here and there and some sound nins here and there.

i dont think they have an actual village though with commerce and buildings and governent, probably more like a mercenary camp.

Actually if i remember corectlly didnt Oro said something like "i have resently aquired the new Sound Village" or something like that?? At least i got the imprestion that the village was formed before Oro came and took over..

And who to say he's not putting up a charade for the ppl that live there and they think he is a good leader?? Or that someone else is managing the village for him so to them Oro is a really nice guy..

Or if they are nice ppl living there they might not even know that Oro is there leader.. he could be disguised or that young girl/boy that he showed the 3rd in the fight could be the one that was the leader/heir to the leadership..

Or if the village consist of bad ppl there is most likely they are all thughs/mercenary/criminal ninjas that have gathered under one banner and formed a village to make a safe haeven for criminals..

there is the head of the sound village that oro was impersonating. The third knew him. The village seems to have layed low for some time now. All we have seen is the house/cave that oro resides in, surrounded by trees. A village could exist. We also know little to nothing about the body of the guy that oro took over. He was imprisoned with many of his comrades, along with some others. He could have came from the sound village. Whether anything is left of the sound village of the previous head guy, other than those who are wililing to fight for oro, is hard to say.
