    Good for you, kclo4, you bring up a very excellent point.

    Drifting is very difficult, and doing it on actual streets is incredibly stupid. Drifting courses are set up specifically to allow you to try out new techniques without a screw-up costing you your life. You try drifting on a steep mountain road and you might skid yourself right off a hundred foot cliff.

    I'm not into racing or drifting myself, but I do enjoy driving a car that has enough power and response to occasionally push when I need to. I'd certainly never go back to driving an automatic clunker like I learned on back in my teenage years!

    ive seen people actually try to drift on the streets and destroy their cars. Im from newyork and we all know that there arent many tracks around here. Hey kclo4 by "one wheel spin" do you mean pegleg?? Also are you running the KA or DT motor??

    pegleg, one wheel wonder, it's called many things, but the fact that open diff sucks doesnt change :-)

    Whats a DT?

    I am running a stock KA24DE, but I plan on boosting it. Don't really want to go SR20DET unles I find one for so cheap I can't pass it up. Love the torque on the KA too.

    street drifting isnt bad u just gotta find the right places like wide corners or parking lots. in cali a cop cant give u a ticket fer drifting in a parking lot unless he sees u visually with his own eyes, otherwise all he can do is tell u to leave. and street corners are really dangerous if cops are around >3 points 1000 and up fine and possible impound> otherwise as long as ur good with control its safe.
    o ya and go to la gardena area u can get sr20's fer around 2000.

    Hereing all this about racin cracks me up. Drifting is more for show than anything else. Also still curious why the Rx-7 is able to take the evo's or even a skyline in up hill, just wouldnt work normal but i guess thats what makes it interesting to watch...

    Do you know anything about FD's? They typicly have a much higher power to weight ratio then a AWD beast like a EVO or GTR.

    300-350hp 2200ishlb car(FD) has serious advantage over 300-350hp 3000ishlb car(EVO, GTR, STi), AWD or no AWD.
    The spec miata racers at the race track here can smoke the crap out of cars with 400-500hp because the drivers are fast and know how the car feels, and they are light weight. They also are lucky if they are pusing 104hp.

    Now, I wont make direct comparisons to Initial D, because it is a show. The only stuff that happens in the show are what the writers and animators tell you what happens.

    Just pointing out that that if your going to say something isnt plausable, at least compare stuff that really doesnt make sence :-)

    Just a thought about the rx-7 in the anime. I know the thing is about who is a faster driver and not the car because that car would never beat a evo or wrx and etc.

    Sorry kclo4 but i have to disagree with you on a miata beating a wrx or anything like that. Especially on a track or course, the evo beat the imprezza wrx sti in test because it had oversteer because the engine being in the front more than a evo. Also front wheel cars dont have a advantage off the line becaues the weight transfer is going back and not to the front wheels, also fd that have over 300hp usually end up slipping off the line in a drag. In my opinion you only show how fast your car is not how fast of a driver you are, course driving is much more difficult, but knowing how to start off the line is very efficient to.

    You can disagree all you want but the spec miata drivers are fuggin fast. their cars have highly tuned racing suspension and racing tires, maybe a straight through header back exhaust and airfilter, but they are actually have to run a restrictor plate. They have proven to rip much higher HP cars on race tracks, fact not fiction. Locally they are some of the fastest drivers that go to the track there. An equally skilled driver, in a well prepped higher HP can can be faster then spec miata's, it's just not easy.

    The point remains that less experienced people in higher HP cars cannot turn faster times then experienced drivers in much lower powered cars. Some higher HP cars still arent as fast as the lower HP ones even with equal drivers.

    Not talking about drags or front wheel drive cars either.
