It helps to keep things looking acceptable.

I like widescreen images, but I'm stuck with a boxy screen. Taking the folders away throws the image's balance off. It's the best compromise unless I find a way to upgrade.

A little too much going to earn 100pts, but I still liked it enough. Felt like a change anyway.

Plain as fuck. Look into desktop customization, it takes a while but it's so worth it.

You see "plain" but I see "neat and simplified". I think your desktop looks sweet, Buff.

I also think cloggy and unnecessary background programs with desktop customization...

A lot of people spend more time using their computers for internet surfing, media and Microsoft Office programs than looking/admiring their desktops, so really, there's little incentive for full-out customization - for the average user, anyway.

The extent of my customization is usually tweaking the main OSX color scheme, adium, and my desktop icons, such as my current setup:
    10/4/04 - 8/20/07

I really like that LF-A wallpaper. If they could only produce it with some tuner girls and fans in the stand, it'd be in my wallpaper rotation.

For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?

lol, i don't have the PS chops to that, or else I'd entertain your idea.

That looks great. Rainmeter looks like something that would actually come in handy for me from a practical point of view as well as satisfying the "gimicky" nerd needs of mine.

Ironically, the weather feature of Rainmeter will be the most useless feature for me.

I don't know if you recommended anything. Even after what I said above, I'll likely keep my desktop the same as it is until I actually get bored and fiddly.

As for the weather, It's not shitty, I just don't care about it. If it's sunny, whatever. If it's raining, whatever. I keep an umbrella in my bag for when shit happens. I also don't care for the temperature since I judge what I wear by the temperature in the morning, not what the news said the day before.

Current desktop, followed by laptop. The desktop wall reflects my status/mood perfectly.
