Ya, I watched them all. Shame it ended. I feel as though they could have ended it on a better story. You basically have to decide for yourself if the ending was expected.

Well, finally finished the series. Overall a well done series, though I think the last 3 seasons where a bit sub-par (mainly due to repetitive themes), while the first 2 seasons where quite excellent.

I really like when shows do an aftermath portion when they end the series, and it was nice to see here. Considering the plague of bad endings in just about everywhere, this one was more than satisfactory. Though I wish they had aged some of the characters, particularly the baseball players... they all remained the same.

Hopefully someone will sub the one episode OVA, Major: Message soon.

I don't know who repped me asking if I finished the series, but yeah, I did, including the final OAV "message".

You watched it raw I imagine? Was it good?

Well, was looking into this series again, since I began watching Ace of the Diamond, and noticed that I didn't recall watching the Major: Message OVA. Then I also noticed that 3 years ago more Major was animated that I wasn't aware of, a previous arc that wasn't animated, the World Series. It does take place prior to the Message OVA though.

Anyways, it was really nice watching both sets of OVAs. The Message one was great, everything went full circle since the beginning of the series, so it was a good way to end the series.

It's very rare that we go through a full life of a character in a series as we've done wtih Goro, we exprienced his full childhood, adolescence and had a very good peek at his adulthood starting a family and all. It had some high and lows, but in all worth the journey for me.

For those interested, a new manga started called Major 2nd and it features Goro's son, so it'll be another opportunity to see more of their life. I hope they don't screw it up. Four chapters have been scanlated so far:

I'm enjoying the angle they're going so far with it, we'll see.

In any case, watching the OVAs I hadn't bothered to watch in the last couple of years was a good way to reminiscence on all that I enjoyed from this series.

The MC was a little OP, but at least the way he breaks his body because of his OPness links to real life cases seen in sports. And it's true you do not get lots of shows that go from childhood to end of active athlete career.

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.

Major 2nd is out and I don't know if a new thread should be started or continued here.

    Been over 7 years.

Major 2nd's first episode was ok. I guessing this was just an introduction episode anyway.

I hope it is as good as Major.

Now that we have Horrible subs. This won't be like 7-10 years ago when ONE group wanted to sub Major and only did a release of one episode every 2 months. I am happy about that change. Back then it was like certain groups were holding series hostage with their delays.

We can just continue this one, it's essentially a direct sequel.

Haven't watched the episode yet, but I read the manga... though it's not far along (translated wise). I'll watch the episode later. I don't expect it to be as good as Major, main character is not as compelling in my opinion and a whiner. But I had no problem reading the manga, so I should be entertained with it.

One my main gripes is that Goro is not really much of a presence so far.

I don't know the original series. If you want to talk about it, then I'll keep away from this thread because spoilers. No problem with me

Solid introduction episode. I would have killed my sister if she broke my handheld just like that, though ;i

If you haven't watched the original series, it's what you need to be watching right now. Drop all else. It's long, but I'm sure you'll binge watch it in no time.

I'd honestly stop watching this series until you do so if I were you. You'll miss out on things I think.

    With what Munso says.

The original is so good. I think there are 150 episodes across 6 seasons. Not many anime that follow a kid, his love interest and rivals from childhood to adult age. By now Goro is probably our ages now lol, 35-40 age range.

Just watched the first episode of Major 2nd, and it was much better than how it was presented in the manga. Actually faithful, but shows how simply moving some scenes around can make a big difference.

    Hikaru's VA sucks.

Up to episode 11 of Major s1. Sooo many people dying, wth xD

But it's a great anime still, better animation than most modern stuff, and the show has a 'feel good' atmosphere (despite the deaths &#128584.

Would definitely recommend watching this before the new Major 2nd ... why skip more good?

Starting season 4 now. This is such a fantastic anime. If you at all like baseball-anime, you HAVE TO watch this. Even if not, it's also a great drama story.

I'm glad to have given this a chance. "Only" season 4, but I already dread when it's over. Please never end :/

PS: Slowest romance ever though. Goro must be gay and Shimizu is too shy.

Aaand season 4 finished in 3 days. Fuck me.

This anime is so good. One of those rare fundamentals that you watch even if you don't like the genre/topic.

    Clown = Mfauli.

It's good shounen sports. Less bullshit and magic than others, and actually has real drama.
