I started to watch this but it looked like it was a direct continuation of something I had no idea of and consequently I felt so out of it I didn't watch more than a few minutes. Well, it was my own mistake for thinking it would be some brainless fanservice piece of work one could just watch without knowing anything.
I myself don't think I will download it... but Kraco, I do recommend reading the whole manga. Its truly a masterpiece.

ah i see, was wondering since i consider it to be a few odd chapters of randomness rather than an actual arc.
I've watched the first anime, I have but haven't watched the second series and I've read a bit of the manga.
I'm hoping to read the full manga eventually, since it looks interesting. But over 200 chapters? Lotta reading...@_@
Well... I have to eat my words.
I downloaded the ova finally and loved it. It wasn't the useless training arc as I expected at first, but the very battle before entering the Magic World.
If you haven't been following the manga you'll be totally lost, since this ova are faithful to the manga and don't follow the crappiness of the previous two animated series. You won't find multiple useless pactios or random chupacabra jokes here.
The ova has a slight summary of what happened since Negi fougt Chao in the school festival all unto the end of the boring training. The ova itself covers the part when the other classmates try to steal the ala alba badges in order to join the White Wing club and go to England.
Its very refreshing seeing a GOOD animation of the manga, plus having the all loyal to their manga version... that is... no change of colors nor failure at life jokes.
Plus... its got Kotarou and Albireo for the first time.
Ova 2 should be arriving soon, since it was released some weeks ago.

I hate the voice actors! I hate the colors too!! Why didn't they stick with the color palette from the manga??
A new set of OVAs is coming out ( first one in 2 days ) and a new anime is planned for 2010 but if they're gonna butcher it like this i don't think i'll watch any of them
The only thing i liked so far is that double spell chanting with japanese and latin in the background

The fight was fantastic, but the episode itself felt stupidly rushed. Not on manga level yet again.
They make it look like it's gonna go so far as the "transformation of a certain character" but if they do that in just 3 episodes it's gonna suck
And again i say, THE VOICE ACTING SUCKS! It's not just that they're high pitched voices are annoying, it's that they can't convey fear or distress to save their lives.
I'd kill to see the Rakan fight animated.
I'd prefer to wait then to have the fight rushed...
Well the new OVAs are done, with the final episode being the mastery of Magia Erebea and an extra of Yue's arc in becoming a knight.
Now begins the wait for the next set of OVAs depicting Rakan's battle...
