WTF where did you gather that fucking insight. If you mean it being a common hentai plot then yeah but in the GERNERAL ANIME(not hentai) sense no it's not. God worst thread ever. Stop posting crap like this.
stfu idiot, how is it not a recurring theme??
angel sanctuary and onegai twins both come to mind readily, go fuck yourself moron.
Oh wow like two shows I know of those. the whole incest thing is more of comedic aspect or a forbiden love thing but even then japanese people find it kinda weired and wrong at that point. It's either used as a comidic drive or gross out factor. I don't consider it a eacurring theam cuz it;s more of a subplot kinda thing, Rarely ever a "theme".
and bam, a discussion is born.
never said it was common, just said it happens. im pretty sure its in more than 2. that guy in BPS eyed his little sister kind of weird.. but other than that i dont know - i dont watch a lot of drama/romance anime.
id also like to expand this convo into including this - wuts up with pedo all over anime?
you cant deny that is a COMMON theme in anime. in a lot of anime theres a young pre-teen girl who flashes panties and/or gets naked.
wtf?
The reason themes of incest are in common in anime probably is rooted in Japanese society. Japanese people often find it hard to have relationships with people outside of family due to their lives being occupied by schoolwork. So often times relationships between cousins, sibings, and even parents can occur, whether it be sexual or not. Such is the terms "sister complex" or "mother complex" in some animes...
I'm surprised at the immaturity in this thread.
how is it immature to question incest and pedophilia?
its nasty shit.
edit - before anybody else tries to strangle my thread, i mean this stuff is aired on tv over there like its nothing. im just wondering how they can do it so often and nobody raises a brow towards it.. does japan not have a orginization that polices its tv like the US does? thats all im saying. im pretty sure people cant just air pedo/incest tv here with no worries.
Well, cultures are different, so what is acceptible to be aired on tv is different, just look at the amount of nudity, violence, language that can be aired on tv in Japan with anime. As for the incest, its just one of the many themes that can show up in anime/manga. From the two examples shown, Lefy said it was comedic purpose for Onegai, so can see why it was used and why it showed up on TV, and as for Angel Sanctuary, it wasn't shown on TV, it was an OVA, so people would of had to buy it directly to watch it. I know campus cumbustible guardian also seems to deal with this too, but that one is also an OVA..and as we know OVAs are less strict than TV.
Thank you ShinobiNeko. I had forgotten that Angel Sanc was an OVA. OVA's are pretty much open to anything that the writers think of.
@ Blankman: I'm trying to com off as imature but sarcasim is really hard to convey through text. On the the whole incest thing it was a problem bakc in the day when oyu had small comunities of people living to gether out ion the middle of nowhere you were bound to have some relatives or even siblings having relationships. But when mother and son or father nad daught or sister and brother go at it with each other and it's consentual thats when they'e missing a few parts of the old brain that keeps that shit form happening.
im gonna kill you mut.
For the pedophilia...well I guess Japs like the idea of teenage intimacy. Almost all the animes revolve around teenage/young characters. Since it's anime they can draw them however they like and make them do whatever they like. Since anime viewers contain a majority of youth audiences, the makers probably think we'd like to see younger characters. Every once in a while in school you think "Damn, that girl's fine". Well, as a substitute you can think about some anime girl instead, and thus hentai was born...ok enough of that.
Gundam Seed was the first series I've seen that's really gotten into it. The intro itself (you know those scenes) would get an adult rating over here in North America. I think it's a marketing strategy or something to use young characters with extensively developed bodies.
It seems that the Japanese populace isn't as strict about what's "appropriate" and what's not for younger audiences. Levels of violence/language is uncomparible to western shows. Over here, anything with a G or Y rating isn't allowed any blood/gore, while the average anime watched by a lot of kids has blood & gore all the time. Think back to the beginning of Naruto where he stabbed his own hand. That would never make it to North America.
One thing you might notice about Japanese culture that seeps through in anime, but is also present in a LOT of aspects of pop culture... their concept of beauty.
Basically the Japanese stereotypical pop-culture beauty is a woman who is very very conflicted: she's supposed to look like a 12 year old with a big rack. She's supposed to act completely naive and innocent, but also be a dirty little whore. She's got to convey cute, young, and innocent above all else...
So if you're 19 or 20 in Japan, your "beauty years" are pretty much over... you're no longer young enough to keep pulling off the cute 12-year-old bit.
I think incest is a lot less well-defined as "wrong" in some asian cultures too. I guess especially the old arranged-marriage cultures, it wasn't unheard-of for arranged marriages between family as close as first cousins (whereas in the US and most of Europe first and second cousins are off limits).
Also, I think there's a certain cultural expectation that younger people won't be able to control their urges around mutually attracted members of the opposite sex, even if they are within familial bounds. That expectation sort of makes it more acceptable. Linking sexuality and child-like women as Japanese culture has, I think it makes it even more of a motivation to at least depict that sort of stuff.
Remember stuff like DaCapo, which in episode 1 set up a non-blood-related sister as one romantic interest, and a cousin as another... and then I got bored and stopped watching .
Hmm, good interpretation on the beauty concept, never thought about it that way.
damn your analytical mind for answering the question and killing my thread.
Well did anyone here actually try to have sex with their sister? It might be good, I mean, considering you're siblings you should have similar taste in positions and...
*gets shot*
I'm pretty sure that any guy with a hot sister thought about that more than once.
That is just wrong BOC
