alright i think it is pretty obvious they are going to square up one vs. one...

according to my girlfriend, these are the following matchups:
chouji vs. fat dude (because they are both fat)
neji vs. girl (because they both have long hair)
kiba vs. spiderman (because they both have animal qualities)
and shika v.s. two-headed dude (they are sort of the leader and shika is so smart he like has two heads)

no, i don't think they're fighting one on one. The Shika's team had more people if i'm not mistaken. Here is what i think, the sound ninja will make it to wherever they're going and find its allies there.
I'm going with

Chouji vs Big Guy(Obvious reasons)
Shikamaru vs The Girl(He always has to fight a girl)
Neji vs Two Headed Guy(They both can see near 360 degrees and Neji would be the only one able to keep up with two bodies)
Kiba vs Spider Guy(Beast Thing)
Oh and Naruto vs level 2 Sasuke.

One-on-one fights? Are you kidding? That would be far too dull. There's no way Kishimoto would make such a bad mistake as making a story arch that uses a ridiculous amount of time on one-on-one battles.

I'm not sure about the 1v1 fights, but I'm almost 100% that Naruto (kyubi power) will fight Sasuke (lvl2 seal)

I'd have to say that I don't think there will be much 1 on 1 fighting either. All we've seen lately has been 1 on 1 fights, and with Shikamaru leading the team I don't think he'd waste the opportunity for some interesting new combo attacks. Also, the 4 sound nins are accustomed to working together, from what I can see, and I think that they know how to effectively complement each other in battle.
not to mention the fact that all the genins would get owned in 1 on 1 fights.....we are talking jounin lvl shinobi here
aw maybe jounin, but probably chuunin, and I doubt they would get owned, these kids are special after all(well ecept for Naruto maybe)

They would get owned. It's not really about what rank they are, it's about skill and power levels. The sound 4 are out of their league, period.

and they are not chuunin lvl.....1. they have teh curse seal which implies they have potential 2. they beat atleast 1 jounin (genma) plus the other guy 3. they were sent to get sasuke from an enemy village with the chance of encountering high level enemies, so they can't possibly be chuunin.
But don't forget, they rely on their seals to defeat jounins and such. If they didn't have the seals, they are probably chuunin level. Even that spidey dude said that if they didn't use the curse, they would have lost against Genma and Raidou.
Anyways, I agree with Aeon's idea about the 1v1 fights, although that is probably not gonna happen. If it were to happen, I would say those are the fights then.
I would imagine that a Naruto w/ Kyubi vs Sasuke at lvl 2 seal will happen. I mean, they even put it in the introduction, hehe.
someone should chek this since i dont have teh ep anymore, but i believe they said they would have trouble fighting them if they didn't use the seals, not that they'd be defeated.
seriously, y would they be chuunins? logically it makes no sense. how many actual chuunin characters do we know beside iruga? almost everyone else is jounin, and it makes sense that oro's "elite guards" who he sent to escort sasuke would be, well elite.
i'd assume a large number of the ninjas involved in the war were chuunin and lower class jounin
basically, most of the red-shirt characters are either anbu or chuunin.
