As for the manga. At the beginning of the chapter, Kakashi says,
"Even if there are alot of enemies, this jutsu can do it in an instant. It's the same as your nickname..."

So I'm guessing that the 4th also had the nickname Chidori, or was it just the Inane translation?

I remember that being mentioned many times on different ocasions. I think she isn't her, but there leaves no explanation for who that ANBU girl is unless Kishimoto introduces another char with a KAKASHI GAIDEN 2 : DAYS IN ANBU.

Anyway I thought that the name Chidori refers to the sound that is produced. It sounds a little like birds chirping. That doesn't really make sense to be the fourth's nickname. I have to disagree with you on that point.

i think inane is confused. i'm guessing the 'yellow flash of konoha' is basically a reference to the 'lightning speed' the 4th has. so... lightning... chidori... raikiri... you get the point.

What i notice is that kakashi use to be very punctual in time at meetings and all. But now when he meets up with naruto and the team, he's always late. hehe

I read a different translation, where it said that he made the title 'Legendary Ninja' seem not so special. So unless you can translate the raw literally for me, we just have to decide which translation to trust. The bottom line is he is on par, if not better than them.

And yeah, he is so fast that it seems like he transports instantaneously hence the nickname, I have no idea where you got the double idea from.

im thinking... if yondaime lerans chidori and uses the instant flash no justu (assuming he didn't invent rasegan yet) it would be a complete jutsu even without chidori wouldn't it?

and with that said. Jiraiya May know the instant flash no jutsu too... teaches it to naruto. learns chidori also. and naruto becomes a genius. makes a hybrid no jutsu of kage bunshin rasendori instant flash. wooping basically anything/one's ass in a matter of seconds.

But having the Sharingan allows you to see the counter coming and avoid it, hence it's required, hence the fact that Yondaime needed to save Kakashi.

Obviously you don't need Sharingan to activate the move, but you need it in order to use it 100% effectively, otherwise it can be countered as shown in 240. I don't think anybody ever believed you needed Sharingan to actually initiate it.

Back OT, Kishimoto is painting Kakashi to be a real dick which will mean that he will have a life changing experience, and that will of course have to do with Obito and Rin. My guess is that his teammates will die in combat Kakashi will get the Sharingan from Obito and the 4th (since his team gets nearly destroyed and since he pwns) will become the next hokage. End of story. Oh yeah, the 4th invented 1000 years of pain! ;p

i think that maybe the fourth will develop the rasengan based on the chidori as the problem with the chidori is the flaw with the counter, the rasengan might not have that flaw and maybe kakashi might have the same experience as his father, where he must choose between saving his team or the mission. he will choose the mission and his friends will die and from there he understands how friends are more important (thats the first thing he said to his own team (team 7) )

its not like the 4th was all like, gee....chakra in the hand, good idea kakashi.....::goes off to spend 3 years training rasengan::

Or he could just have developed chidori just becaause he taught of it .

I dont think Kakashi is stupid enough to think "oh no in ordet to get to sensie's level and be better than him, i have think about a way so i can respond to rasengan".....

yea i'm pretty sure rasengan was before chidori. but maybe he didn't finish it by this time. maybe he'll have his complete 100% rasengan during the mission.
