I'm not so sure Chouji survived. Tsunade looked like she had to give some bad news at the bottom of page 18. Of course we wont know for sure until we get a translation. Maybe she's just upset becasue Naruto isn't back yet or that after everything they didn't get Sasuke back.

uhh not sure what shika is saying.. but tsunade is saying: "but, everyone is alive." (is the next line: 'what's more than that' like, what could be more important than that? ehh that's a guess tho)

Why is Shika crying? I'd have to say he's either glad his friend's not dead, or that he failed not only his mission (bring back Sasuke) and everyone is seriously hurt, and he was leading them. It's tough being a leader, he was resonsible for all of their lives.

Remember the pills? They give him (and family, must be a family secret) tons of chakra at the expense of Calories. So... we can say safely without the chance of being wrong, that if someone skinny or not fat, like Shikamaru, Naruto, etc etc... would DIE from weight lose. (Also they give a great pressure to the body).

Man, you're asking for Chouji to not be a ninja anymore. The only techs he knows are his familys, and they requiere him to be fat!!

Meat tank no jutsu and Baika No Jutsu... they need a fat Chouji to be efective.
The pills are just a final choice.
