Some bad news, though there's still hope:

    No Genshiken Season 2

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While initial reports from Comiket were that there would be a second season of Genshiken, Moonphase now reports that the project is actually a new, independant Kujibiki Unbalance TV series and a serialised manga.

Monthly Afternoon Magazine, where Genshiken was serialised, has not yet made any announcement regarding the Kujian manga on their website.

Thanks to Aryaan for this item."

Favorite Gotwoot Mod moment: "Why is everyone in that show black? The art and music are pretty good, and the voice acting is alrite as well......but i can't stand that guy who follows afro around. Hes so, well, black, for the lack of a better term (well thats not true, there is a better term, but i wont use it here)" Assassin

From the discussion on that article:
5-26-06 (4:04PM EDT)---- Further Genshiken Animation Likely
Despite widespread reports to the contrary, ANS is hearing that a sequel or further animation to the Genshiken TV series is still likely. The official website www.genshiken.info has renewed after a longtime this week. Many Japanese observers point to 2 things there that could suggest a sequel. Number 1: the new "Copyright 2006" mark on the site. 2: The splash screen happens to be the last scene of the TV series, showing a new member entering the club's room. A new TV or OVA adaptation is being predicted. It was first hinted in a compilation of Comiket 69 news that Media Factory had announced a second season of Genshiken TV to broadcast in October, 2006. Doubt was cast on a possible sequel this week when news surfaced that a Kujibiki Unbalance TV series was due to debut in the fall of 2006 and perhaps the true work Media Factory had alluded to at Comike. Kujibiki Unbalance is an anime within the Genshiken anime.
As the original poster said: "A faint glimmer of hope."

I actually like both of them. Genshiken is great once you get into it and realize Sasahara isn't much of a main character, rather Saki fills that role much better, as she slowly falls into their world. As for Kujibiki Unbalance, its stupid beyond imagination, which is why the Genshiken members all loved it, and it's good for what it parodies.

Damn, bad news. The second season was my most anticipated series this year.

Aye. That's bad news, if the worst happens. I just started watching Genshiken, after somebody mentioned it on the irc channel, and it's a hilarious series. Even if it's a bit frightening...

Aye. Good news indeed. I'll be looking forward to it most certainly.

    Still: Kujibiki Unbalance ftw!

That was a really good ova. Seemed like a solid piece of plot writing and character use and development. And just as funny as the original series. It was also interesting how they changed the Kujibiki to the new version, quite visibly hanging new posters, and even the moving picture on the little tv during the ED was from the new Kujibiki.

Also, I didn't remember Genshiken had such an impressive cast. But now it caught immediately my attention, and after checking ANN, the cast is nice and famous indeed.

    Edit: Fixed some typing...

It was a good OVA start to an excellent series. Perfect casting on Ogiue too. I feel proud that I recognized Kaori Mizuhashi right away. I love Ogiue and Ohno's clashes in the Genshiken, while Kusakabe harasses them both. I wonder how far they will go into that year of the club. The manga goes at least two years beyond where the anime stopped. (I buy them as soon as the tanks are translated by Del Rey)

What was the fighting game Kuchiki was playing with Sasahara before Kasukabe and Kohsaka came in?

An excellent OVA, I must say. The still scenes were perfectly executed.

Does anyone know where I can find the season 1 of Genshiken? I just learned about it, but I don't know if there is any way to get it....

Boxtorrents. That's the first place to check when looking for some old series. Genshiken is there alright with enough peers.

Ho... The OVA episode 2 (or episode 14 of the series) has been released by gg:

    OVA episode 2 - gg

Considering how good the first ova ep was, it's reasonable to assume this will be golden as well.

Finally got around to watching this. It wasn't really that comedic and funny, or most of it at least, but there were some good scenes, and I guess it continued the general line of the series. Maybe I'm just a little disappointed, but it's not like it was bad, either, but anyway...

I think it was intended to be a "normal" episode with the characters acting "normal" instead of their wacky selves. A good episode, IMO.

I thought that this was a great episode. It was great fun trying to see otakus trying to get some normal fashion going. Madarame did look quite stylish, but Oguie.... LOL, that was way too funny to see!
Is it just me or does Madarame have some sort of crush on Saki? There has been a few hints in the first season, but I think that this OVA answered that question to "yes".

Just finished this anime with the OVAs. Must say a very good anime. The environment and animation reminds me of Welcome to N.H.K
