    How to attach the subs to the video

    So i wanted to se how hard subbing was and made an attemept.
    Took a old raw avi file and wrote down some lines from the translated
    ep, used Sub Station Alpha. Now when i have little script done. How do i attached
    it to the Raw avi file, so called Hardsubbing(i think).

    ok, you got virtualdub, right?

    The "easy" way is to use virtualdub, and the plugin "textsub" -- it comes with vobsub.

    When you install vobsub, point it at the directory you've got virtualdub in. Load up your video file. Add a filter -- textsub -- and point it at the script you made.
    You might want to use a util (such as subresync) to apply a basic style to it, too -- but I'd recommend making sure you have a backup before you start playing with it.

    Anyway, after you added that filter, set up your codec settings and encode the video. You should be able to use fast recompress. Depenging on the type of audio, you may have problems and have to use a different utility to handle the audio stream (nandub or vdubmod, for example).

    Encoding can be tricky to do well, but if you're not trying to do a good job it's pretty easy :-p. There's some good howtos and documentation in general at doom9 ... you might consider digging there ...
