a Q. about the 3rd and 4th hokage!

ok, a hokage is the best fighter in the town, and chosen to be the protector and leader of the village right?
my question is: why was the 3rd hokage ALIVE but the 4th was dead? how can this be? how can there be a 4th hokage when the 3rd was still alive? i jsut dont get it.. doesnt seem logic to me.. someone got any theories? i got 1:

3rd hokage got crowned, he got kidnapped, everyone thought he was dead, so they crowned a new hokage. and then he died saving the 3rd hokage, and then the 3rd hokage got the crown back... or something [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] ?? theories please... or... fill me in if i have overlooked any facts..

the 3rd got too old so chose the 4th hokage. but the 4th died sealing the kyubi and the hokage position was left open. then the 3rd came out of retirement and became the hokage again.

do you even watch the show? i cant believe that you are serious.

the 3rd hokage got old so he chose(sp?) a new hokage. thats the way it goes its not the people who choose hokage but the hokage that rules.

remember when the chuunin exam 3rd test was on...
kazekage(orochimaru) says you should hurry up and choose a fifth...
and sandaime replies with i can do this for at least another 5 years...or something along those lines.
you just relinquish your title..dont have to die as the hokage.

im guessim hes only seen the latest eps, u would understand better if u went back and downloaded all the eps and watched all the way through, you will understand the characters better and see how they develop, also it might stop you from asking dumb questions again
