The intention is that Realfield is a real cat. Kraco is saying it's not realistic because he just sits in the same position and never moves, as if he's dead and stuffed.

I like no Garfield better. It's much sadder to see Jon talking to himself than to an animal.

Edit to below: I wasn't trying to argue anything, just clarifying what Kraco meant. Which I agree with.

Nothing you said discounts what I said. Regardless of the poor animation, Jon talking to a real cat or a stuffed cat amounts to the same thing: he's talking to himself.

I'll admit that while reading the original comic all these years I never looked at it from this angle, that Jon is talking to himself and only imagining what his cat is saying to him in response.

For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?

    I wonder what "almost" means.

Yeah, I suppose the author purposefully made the (real) cat especially static so that it enhances the feeling the cat is in reality taking no part in the conversations. However, taken too far that's not particularly realistic, either, which is what I meant, like Xan said. While cats don't understand the words and sentences, they still react and get some meanings (mainly: There's food for you. Although this was partly accounted for in the strips).

I have to actually say I never read the original Garfield thinking all the cat's "lines" are nothing but Jon's imagination. It'd indeed be too sad.

There's no end to the reinterpretations that have been applied to Garfield. The weirdest one is Lasagna Cat: http://www.lasagnacat.com/

Guys dress up as the characters and reenact a strip with bad sound effects and laugh track, then set it to some weird music.

This one is probably the best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yELOi...199CFB&index=6

    uhmmmm what`s so disturbing?

As disturbing as it is theoretically, it's still funny. Those kids have no idea what they are doing, after all.

Which just goes to show you how much of a positive role model the likes of britney spears and paris hilton play to your countries children
