Actually, Mut@t@, Irvine is probably one of the safest place to live. You also have excellent insurance rates for living there. Though, I do admit is boring at times, but at least it is also relaxing and has some of the nicest parks to play (basketball, tennis, soccer, etc.), for those who actually get off their computers and do some activities. Eurasian, wow, that's quite a drive just to hang out. I know there are a lot of cool places up in LA, so I do like to hang out there at times; it's just I dread the traffic. Besides the Spectrum, Irvine also has Wild Rivers and is right by the some of the most beautiful beaches in California (Newport, Corona Del Mar, and Laguna Beach). it's not that bad a drive. my sister went to uci and her friends r there. i just go hang out w/ them. it's only 30 min on the 405 freeway but i live on a hill so it'll that 30 min to get to the 405 freeway.
irvine has really nice places around it, like the block (the oxygen bar and gameworks!) and south coast. i've only been to newport (and the really nice houses!). that beach is like 20 times better than the beaches around where i live.
