Manga: Berserk

i'm not into manga nor anime too much beside naruto and berserk, but IIRC (and as far as logic tells me) author is always ahead, so it's most probable that Miura is like volume ahead of us (it would be a bit annoying to make 1 chapter every 2 weeks no matter the fact if u would be sick/have no idea at the moment/be close to the dead line all the time), so game is probably like 1-3 chapters ahead of manga now (after all to finish a game u need some time, depends on one's stubborness etc.).

and as always, berserk rulz [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

from all the things i've read/watched (naruto and berserk are just the things that i like the most ATM) i think that berserk ownz all, naruto is not as good as berserk but still better than most things right now (at least I think so).

I heard Darkhorse Vol 5 is messed up.

I only buy DH so i can add it to my collection, other wise it's all about the scans.
I just cant wait for the grand war which seems to be shaping up quite nicely.

and i am aware that he's the only one drawing berserk - he don't have anyone to help him, he wants it to be his and only his own [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

but it would be unwise/risky to have no ready chapters for a 2 months at least, but i think that he's more ahead than that thus i've said 'bout a whole volume (well... *maybe* of course, it's just a wild shot of course)

it's full of surprises, u never know what will happen, u can't predict behavior of characters nor can be assured that everyone will survive (it was like 10 volumes of hawks after all, I really liked Judeau for example, rest was cool too and... they were just sacrificed, rikert was just lucky, nothing more, and gutts and caska... well... it can't be THAT unpredictable [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] and shock made from death of most of hawks was big enough, try to imagine how ppl were feeling when they were at chapters when griffith is rescued and there is NO FU**ING hope for him to be like he was before).

miura is probably my favourite artist. he can go into such detail for the background, and even the foreground, also with the follow through swings of his sword where you like see gatts in 3 different positions taking out a couple of guys and how it flows in within the panels, and story.

I love Berserk and Naruto isnt near as good but its good enough.

If you like Naruto try Hunter X Hunter which is better if you ask me.

Are there any girls reading Berserk and loves it? I mean, this manga is pretty much the typical "man's" manga in my opinion... Loads of naked chicks and sex... I mean, of course gals love sex just as much a us guys, but it's directed more to the violent type of sex such as rape and shit that sucks and when there is pure nice sex in this manga, well it's more about how the women looks if you know what I mean.

I just think that girls might think Berserk is more gross than guys do.

Well how do you guys/girls feel about Berserk being as close to a Hentai as it could be without being a Hentai... I mean, seriously... I read through the manga from vol 9. And from there you see the princess Charlotte, Caska, loads of naked chicks being raped by some bull-like man, thing :S... You have the prostitutes where one of them is a sex maniac who has joined a cult which has sex like every night with anyone, there is the matter of Farneze getting off on her bed after tormenting herself and others with a whip and through fire...

Has this subject been up? Well no matter, It's a pretty good subject and it's fun to discuss (if anyone ever looks at this small manga forum [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]).

Personally I think it is great to have a manga/anime that can have sex, loads of demon violence and still make it feel natural with a script that makes the story interesting. I mean, the story and the character development 'til this point is incredible. It is worth reading this manga over and over to remind yourself of the details that you have forgotten about.

anyway, i don't think that beside Terra you'll find many berserk fangirls, not becuase of the sex itself (i believe that there are more hentai loving girls than hentai loving guys) but becuase of the fact it doesn't go to the tradional 'girls' themes...

for starters, Gutts is exactly the anti hero charceter of 'girl' manga, he's dirty, blood lusted and scary looking with a giant sword, the very first scene of berserk opens with him fucking some crazy demon lady and then blowing a cannon into her mouth. 2nd thing is Griffith, altough girls go crazy once he appears (show some girl a berserk picture, and the first thing she'll say is 'this guy is hawt!'), the moment he turns femto, they'll scream in fear and abandon the manga...

anyway, that's the impression i got from talking to few of my friends (females) about Berserk...

About Berserk being close to hentai... I really don't agree. There's lots of rape, yeah, but never with the intention of getting someone aroused. I doubt ANYONE finds the kind of nudity available on Berserk sexually stimulating. For me it's the same as if someone called a documentary of world war 2, with all the dead jewish women, a porno.

berserk is awesome no doubt about it. the sex themes well there there because they are a part of the story. i have seen a couple of girls interested in berserk, they will usually look at some pic and just have some comment about it. but they would keep readin it. but i wouldnt call this hentai. it just has sex scenes and rape. well IMO
yeah i have read berserk from start to finish a couple of times. prob about 3-4. but its not just to clarify some things i might have missed, it is because the story and basically everything about it is fuckin awesome.

and those girls is Shierke and sonja and the knight that is hanging around i mule, the one that is recruited in to the hawks, and sonja shows him around, the little kid one.
and i think her power is like foresight or something.like being able to glimpse into the future just a little. and she is the hawks medium.

I think the sex,rape has been perfect for the story, one of the reasons i like Berserk is the world is so dark and gritty.

For example when when Griffith raped you know in front of Guts, i was as angry as Guts was.

Because I know a lot of Swedish women who jumps and kicks if a girl is wearing somethnig too tight or too little on her body in a comercial... chapters are released every second friday. so the next release is this friday and usually the preview is out the other fridays.

degrading to women, like this is the last thing on your mind...because it is fantasy, but in real life i think rape is just fuckin stupid and it pisses me off.
but if you want it just goes both ways, and what sells SEX DOES. but this degrading stuff i dont really think about it. im more thinking about the story line, looking at the art and what not.

i dont take this sex as erotical. i take it like its part of the development of the story. eg. when caska and gatts are having sex and stuff, there was so much behind it as it is the first time they have seen each other in a while, and there've missed each other, well gatts has always had this kind of a thing with caska and caska has always had this kind of a thing with gatts.
gatts saying that when caska touches him she is the only one that he doesnt get offended at.
and caska being the "wife" (so to put it) nagging women cant stand a bar of him. and then everything changes for her, when he becomes the 100 man slayer. and he leaves and she doesnt know what to do.

with this sex scene it was needed for the story, as caska gets pregnant from gatts, and then a little while later when they save griffths, he sees they have something a little extra than just comrades and then when he changes into femto he rapes caska and "demonises" the baby...

with griffiths and charlotte, charlotte has this thing with griffths and i dont think she would ever say no to him, and griffiths being distrought over losing gatts the man that could make him forget his dream, the man "he wanted", goes to charlotte because he doesnt know what to do and this was enivitable for him to have his own kingdom was to get in the dress of the princess.

i do see the scenes erotical for the characters in the manga, but not for myself. as it follows a story. if you wanted something like that you would either go to porn or hentai which ever you may want, some have a story line to it, but you dont watch these things for the story you watch it for the sex or whatever, or unless you like corny acting which can make you laugh.

Of course rape and whatnot is degrading to women. But that's exactly what makes it so damn dark and good. And from such a viewpoint, the rapists are actually degrading themselves too seeing as they are the brutal males and blahblah. But yeah. Rape is horrid, so is murder. All parts of a very unforgiving manga.

I'm quite surprised that you can't see the difference between the sex scenes in Berserk & hentai. Seriously, hentai is like what? Generally 20 pages long manga issues with mindless porn in 'em. Taking the risk to sound very gay, Guts & Caska's sex scene was FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. Seriously. One of the best things with Berserk is that the author managed to pull off drawn sex without it looking stupid or like any random hentai. There was just so much emotion involved. And that's what separates it from hentai. EMOTION.

Because, clearly, if you agree with me... which you say you do, seeing as you tell me I'm not "listening"; you wouldn't end it with that question because it totally contradicts the whole argument. So yeah, they are naked, they have sex, they say "gimme more". But I still doubt anyone could get off on the sex scenes alone because it just doesn't play like a hentai scene does. They don't do "zoom ins" and shit like that... there's a raw beauty over the whole thing.

And don't listen to what swedish women say about girls in tight clothes. SWEDISH WOMEN ARE STUPID.
