Two brains or just two personalities? I never quite got that.

the horns they have give them the power? so if she looses the horns then she will be normal?
I doubt it. Its like saying that your a different person just because you dye your hair. Well, not exactly, but close enough.

However, as the series continues on in the books, Nyuu grows another pair of horns, ultimately bringing out Lucy again.
The manga keeps going? Is there a download link?

And about all this talk of a sequel or 14th episode: I seriously doubt if (even though I'll be one of the many people watching it) continuing this series will be a smart idea. I think that making more episodes to explain everything will bring down the original series.

    RE: Elfen Lied

From what I've heard, the mysterious eps 14 is more or less a prequel of the series, showing Lucy's time in the lab before the opening of the series. OR that it is some Nana Gaiden. Either case of the contents of eps 14 shows that there we'll be no extension on the ending.

It's really shocking that no one seems to be able to accept the open end of the series. An open ending is a lot better than a confiming ending that is shitty. We can pretend whatever we want from this, but some many of you are bitching about it.

Lots of series have ending in a somewhat (if not very) open ending. Let me list some of them (these are taken off Animenfo's top 200 list, so they are clearly well liked series that few people complained about, that, and I'm too lazy to think of all of them on my own, it would take too long): Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (open ending), Cowboy Bebop (fairly open ending), Full Metal Alchemist (open ending), Fruits Basket (fairly open ending), Neon Genesis Evangelion and corresponding movies (hugely open ending), Love Hina (anime has open ending), Full Metal Panic (closer may be reached in 3rd season), and those are just in the top 50 to name a few.

I'll I'm saying is just let it go, you liked the series, the ending is left for you to speculate, so if you want a happy ending, just think of a good one and you can equally take a negative approach to the ending if you want to. I liked the way then ended it, and if you need closure that desperately, maybe you should learn to enjoy the times where the ending is left to you.

Ryllharu : Yes, thank you. I liked the open ending of Elfen Lied. It's pretty obvious what was happening. I just freaking hate it when people bitch because they have zero imagination and must have everything spoonfed to them. The ending was a good one. It allows people to speculate and actually think about everything rather than having something they don't like be the conclusion.

That's why I think episode 14 being an extension is a huge mistake. Going back and tacking on an ending to an already concluded series, with such an ending ruins the hope everybody had with their own thoughts.

Honestly, I'd rather it "seem" to be Lucy/Nyuu behind the door, rather than somebody else being there, and thinking "WTF!"
