Though it was originally named after the mangaka's favorite band's albums, Honey and Clover (the title) has a relation to the ending of the 2nd season. Im not sure about the manga though.

Elfen Lied is definitely german and I would translate it "Elven Song" too.
The title comes from the german poem "Elfenlied" of Eduard Mörike and it was used for a song too as far as i know.

Search for "Elfen Lied" on any torrent search engine and you'll get tons of hits. I suggest you get the ones released by anime.fin

I just watched the entire Elfen Lied in one sitting.. WOW.

    As the title says...

It took me 3 bottles of bawls, but i did it.

Don't get me wrong, im not making this thread to discuss elven lied, because theres already a thread for that. I just made this thread to tell people that I watched the entire series in one sitting and that i was extremely grossed, sickened, amazed, and inspired all in one, seeing as how this is the general discussion part of the forum and the best place to post this.

I am confused about the ending though... What happened?

I also dont understand, if the general director was a diclonius himself, what the fuck is going on? Also, what did she mean by in 5 years, most people will be diclonius's...?

Sorry if i didn't process all of the information given. Again, I watched the entire thing in one sitting... lol.

My opinion on the end is that, seeing as how after the bullets were fired, she still moved her vectors, showing that she was alive, but then it showed her ear flying off. I think that either a bullet hit it and it flew off or she ripped it off herself, and now finally she can live among humans without being teased.

And I think the whole moral of the story was that dicloniuses(SP?) arent born to kill humans. They are just born with very hott tempers, and humans are what caused the dicloniuses to want to kill them, through theyre very mean and hurtful nature of needing to put others down to make themselves feel better.

I think this moral is meant for all the school shootings that go down, or should be meant for that atleast. Those kids arent killers at heart, they only kill because of the pain others have brought upon them.

Maybe another moral is learn to forgive? I bitched out my ex-girlfriend to the point of making her cry because of the fact that she cheated on me over vacation, but this dude forgived this girl after she killed his family... Maybe I should re-evaluate my values?

I still don't know your reasoning for posting this in the General Discussion forum.
And why exactly did you need all that energy drink? Its only 14 episodes if you watched the OVA. Seems like a waste.... kind of like thread...

    I'm official.

    @Mizuchi

If you really want to know what happened, and what a lot of it all means, I suggest you pick up the manga. It continues where the anime leaves off, and adds a little bit more (though mostly unncessary) that the anime left out.

It explains the role of the dicloni [proper pluralization] what the director is after, more on Lucy, more with Nana's dark side, and continues the cycle of death surrounding the two.

Not possible to do in PM really, there was a lot going on afterward. Moreover, the manga isn't done being scanlated, so there's a good deal more left. I can answer a few that should have been clear from the anime alone.
if the general director was a diclonius himself, what is going on?
There's literally no way to explain this one without a 5 page synopses of about 9 chapters of the manga. The anime barely even touched on what he's doing and what he intends.
what did she mean by in 5 years, most people will be dicloni
At the rate Lucy and her infertile spin-offs are infecting people like the Director, and other men/women they come across, most children will be born dicloni.
I am confused about the ending though... What happened?
Both of Lucy's horns were broken off. The theory of scientists is that Dicloni can't use their vectors without their horns. The manga delves more into specifics. As for who it was at the door, that is left up to you. That scene is not shown in the manga, but the story continues so you'd figure it out.

Dicloni are meant to kill humans, especially Lucy's infertile spin-offs. This was explicitly stated in the anime. They will wipe out the entire human race, and Lucy will be the Eve of the new species. The hyperviolent ones will die off as they are incapable of birth. Lucy is the only one who has become violent as a result of her environment. Nana become docile for the same reason, though it is clear she has her own inbred violent streak, seen briefly in the anime.

Well i just finished watching this and it was a great series

I enjoyed the story, the violence, the complexity, the characters ... makes me think that they just don't make good anime anymore ( this season is somehow not as good as one could expect people )

I'm thinking of reading the manga to fully understand the story, but so far i can't get over on how incredibly bad the art is!

And gthe fact that i cant find any decent cleans isn't helping either

I wouldn't really recommend it. The open ending in the anime is a lot better than the closed ending of the manga, the end of each plays out very differently. The art really isn't that bad (I've definitely seen worse), the problem is the plot itself.

There is gratuitous ecchi in the manga. I'm not just saying it like prudish people might for a large number of series, it is actually out of place. There is a character introduced that has no bearing whatsoever on the plot, merely to fulfill an obscure fetish only for the sake of being there. The plot and character development wouldn't change one iota without her.

So do yourself a favor, and just live happily with the anime. The manga was a pretty big letdown.

The manga really tripped me out when I realized that there were two different characters who simply looked eerily similar. For the longest time I thought they were jumping back and forth in time because one character looked like a slightly older, slightly evil version of the other. Those of you who have read the manga can probably guess which two characters I'm referring to.

That completely changed everything. Unfortunately, this realization came near the end of the storyline.

I couldn't resist and i read it, and i agree that the anime is better but overall it didn't ruin the image i already had of it in any way

There sure is, and to think that the character's only real contribution was to teach her that song ... It's even funnier if you notice that she didn't even show up in the last chapter, kinda like the mangaka forgot all about her since she was so useless.

And since we're on the subject the way they brought that character back to life out of the blue was pretty retarded... he everything from the waist down and his intestines were splattered on the floor ffs!!!

I'd still recommend fans to read it so they can have a better understanding of the story, and then i'd tell him to go watch the anime again so that was the image that stuck with them when they thought about elfen lied
