LOTR the third age is nothing but a direct rip off of FFX. Steals the same battle system but inserts lord of the rings characters. LOTR the third age is such a bad idea for a game on so many levels it really does sicken me. God I hate EA but doesn't seem like there is anything thats going to stop them from dominating the industry for the next few years.
If your looking for an RPG on the Xbox maybe you'd like sudeiki? I heard it sucked though so it may not be your best choice. It's basically a non-japanese development studio trying to recreate a japanese made RPG. As you can imagine the results are less then spectacular.

KOTOR is much, much closer to classical RPGs than anything Japanese dev houses put out.

KOTOR is a turn based engine. If you save after every action your character takes and reload before the enemy attacks you can attack them infinite times, because you always get the first priority. but you can set the turn based option off. you will never be able to do this with a real rpg like ff.
Uh, being turn-based isn't the focus of classical RPGing. It's the focus of classic CONSOLE RPGs, but not RPGs as a whole. And turning off the pauses doesn't remove the fact that the engine is turn-based, it just hides it.
Console roleplaying games are exactly the opposite of what the phrase "roleplaying" originally meant. Instead of creating your own fantasy character and controlling their actions, you're acting out a predetermined script. While I enjoy games like this a lot, they aren't anything close to classical RPGs and I'm glad hybridizations like KOTOR appear to be moving in on their territory.

The best RPG that I liked was Wild Arms 2, it was cool when you could accelerate into that black knight thingy. Battle system was cool and the storyline was great. Any of you guys know where I can get or download the game.

Best RPG I've ever played is FF7. Obviously the graphics are nothing compared to today's games but when I started playing, I couldn't stop. I just wanted to know what happens next.

best rpg for me is hard to say really its a tossup between FF7 and Chrono Trigger
also i gotta give a mention to Panzer Dragoon Saga class rpg anyone who didn't play it really missed out on a class game too bad it came towards the end of the sega saturns life to have made any significant impact wish they'd do a release of itfor pc but its never gonna happen
theres been rumors around for awile about an xbox version to follow Panzer Dragoon Orta and panzer Dragoon orta 2(if they get around to making a second 1) much like the PDS followed the original 2 panzer dragoon games (which to be honest sucked)
