Just a tip to any of you who are buying a sword. Unless you want to pay alot more money for a sword with a nice design in the blade, don't buy a Damascus sword or weapon. Damascus steel is just 2 grades of steel that are pounded into one sheet and twisted or shaped in some way to warp the design and make it look nice. They can caust upwords of $700, For a good Tanto made of Damascus you can get for maby $500.

It doesn't help in the blade strength. But it does look nice.

    ***Edit***

No Dachi's are realy nice, I have one. They are nice and long XD. 40" is a lot longer than it seems just so ya know. So is 2' for a blade.

Guessing No Dachi is the one I posted? Haha, its nice... but to expensive for a sword I will never use. All my money goes to paintball X_X.

    RE: zabuza's sword

Ya. But in truth any sword on that site is acctualy kind of cheap compared to swords that are hand forged. The max a sword on that site costs is around $2000 which is alot. But when you look at a well made Damascus Katana that was hand forged, they can be up to and over $7500. Heck I have seen one go for $10,000. Its all in how much you want the weapon and if you are a collecter or not.

Only reason the swords on that site arn't too much is that they are almost exclusively factory made. Though some are hand made they are made out of steel that is much easyer to work with and most of the time its under 100 folds in the steel. That makes a huge diffrence in the price.

    Im rambling sorry.

    RE: zabuza's sword

Of course. Everything on that site can probably be found cheaper elsewhere, or for the same amount of money, something that is better quality... but its still cool to look at.

100 folds of steel still must take a long time though, whats the highest you have heard of? 700?

And even if... $300 CAD is still alot of someone like me who doesn't know the first thing about swordfighting with anytype of sword, nevermind with a Katana. But i'm wondering, what stuff do you own? Got a pic? Is it just for display, or do you know how to actually wield them?

Also, I spend $50+ each time I ball... so I have no spare cash.

    RE: zabuza's sword

$50+ on paint ball wow man. I paintball to and that seems high.

$7000+ not 700. 100 folds is acctualy not that hard to get, one sword I watched the guy make, well it took about 3 days but still. Its 300 folds of stainless steel. Cost me about $1500. Its a katana.

As for my collection I have about 30 or so swords, I know how to use some, rapiers, tantos, katanas. But most are for pure display. They range from Tanto, Katana, Rapier, Long Sword, Hand and a Half Sword, Scotish Claymore, Saber, a few Fencing Foils, and a few costom made swords.

They range in price as well, from $200-$6000. I'm a collecter lol. But I'm wanting to get into making swords, trying to get an apprienticeship.

I can get some pics, not sure how long it will take me to get them, depends if I can find my dad digital camra.

    RE: zabuza's sword

When I wrote 700, I meant folds, not price.

Paintballing, well, thats CAD, not US, keep that in mind. Also, keep in mind alot of US places, people can get paint for $25-35 a case USD, at the moment, the cheapest place around here is $100 CAD for RPS.

They are opening a BYOP field near me though.

30 swords? Haha. Damn. I like the look of Claymore/ long swords the most, ie, the medival type. Although learning using a Katana would interested me the most out of any sword.

    Whats a Tanto though?

  11. #31

    RE: zabuza's sword

A Tanto is like a dagger, just modled after the katana.

Ya I forgot that it was more expencive in CAD.

And the fold, 700 would be alot, but me guess is its not imposible. Most I have seen is around 500.

Hehe ya I like knowing how to use them to a point. And for rapiers and fencing, well I have been doing that for a long time. Fencing is soo fun.

Well call it what you like but Kunai translates directly to Throwing Knife. Its just the spacific style of throwing knife that they use, the acctual name of which is Earth Digger. No idea why Earth Digger but that is what thy are called. They are just so hard to find because yes no one makes them, and the people that do, make fake or practice ones, seem like they never make metal ones, I think it make b/c of the odd shape, it would be hard to grind that edge down to that angle, on all 8 flat surfaces.

I know too much about weapones. -_-

    **Edit**

Forgot to say something, Kunais do not exsist in any matial ars surplus, for the fact that the use of the weapon was for the most part unknown, and is not taught in Ninjutsu or Taijutsu, they were used they know that, but the simple fact that they were never seen in use by anyone who lived long enough to tell about it and the ninja died befor thy had a chance to betray the trust of their kin.

I'm a lost culture, and history buff. Love all that kind of stuff.

    RE: zabuza's sword

Depends on the metal, and the number of folds in the metal. But for about 100 folds and stainless steel, most likely 600 -700. I could be wrong, It might be higher, it might be lower, but you can specify a price range to a smith and he could work out the metal and number of folds to fit the price, at least I think they might be able to.

Of coars thet is a huge ass sword so it might be upwords of $800 just for 100 fold stainless. Not too sure, depends on the Smith too realy.

I'll E-mail those a little later Coolman. But it should be today, if I don't get too buisy.
