    Help me

Whenever I download anime through BT it always goes so slow. I think my firewall is the cause of this. The download goes from 0-15 KiB/sec. Help/comments are greatly appreciated.

i doubt that anyone is still on dial up... but maybe you are? don't expect much from dial up. anyway, i've never heard of a firewall slowing down connections. last night i was downloading something and i was only getting about 35kb/sec on 3mb dl speed cable with about 4 people seeding it (usually 400kb/sec constant on regular direct dl). oh yeah, try messing around with your download settings on BT too.

Ok, your'e probably going to have to do something called "Port Forwarding." You see, a firewall consists of many ports that protect your computer from outside intruders. Bittorrent however, uses a set of ports (6881-6999 to be exact) to obtain its download/upload information. You are going to need to "open" those ports to create a faster upload/download process. If you tell me what kind of firewall you have (Windows XP, Zonealarm), I can give you a step by step guide on how to forward the ports for bittorrent. Also, if you have a router, please give me the type of router (Linksys, D-link, etc.) and the model number and I'll tell you how to port forward the ports for Bittorrent there too. Hope I could help.

does your household use more than one computer? if yes, is more than one computer connected to the internet? if yes, you have a router.

For your ZoneAlarm Firewall, I have found a guide on how to forward your ports which you can find here. Its not really an official guide, but if you look at the post made by RES666, you should be fine (Also, the range he has is off, don't use the range he gives you. Use 6881-6999, those are the bittorrent ports). Now, when you find out what type of router you have (D-link, Linksys, etc.) and the model number of the router, tell me and I can give you a step by step guide on how to forward those ports. Hope I could help.

Sorry to trouble you, but I need the exact model number of your Linksys router (ex: WRV54G-CA). If you could give me the model number, then I can get you a step by step guide on how to port forward the Bitorrent ports. Hope I could help.

Ok, for your specific router (Linksys Network Everywhere NR041 ) I have found a step by step guide on how to port forward. You can find it here. Just follow the step by step guide that is there and you should be fine. Remember, the port range that Bittorrent uses is 6881-6999 and for the application name just simply use "Bittorrent" (without the quotes ofcourse). Just use that range and you should be all set. Hope I could help.
