ADV licensed series? (thanks to the C&D orders)

i, and im sure several other people, would like to know of a centralized tracker for finding fansubs of adv licensed series since downloadanime and anime.mircx will be filtering them out now.

^_____^ any help would be greatly appreciated, and while i wanted to buy maburaho i now urge any and all to boycott adv and its bullying of its fanbase.

why in the hell would you boycott ADV?

ADV, like bandai, gennon, funimation, central park media, is a licensing company, its what they do. They look at a anime airing in japan, and go, wow, this will sell well/looks nice/think it has good potential, and they license it.

They announce it, and the fanboys go wild. here are some common examples

    OMFG ADV SUCKS
    OMFG BOYCOTTT
    OFMG I R NOT BUY DVD's

This is what i don't get, i know for some DVD's are expensive at 20-25 dollars a pop, or even in the UK, europe, or other countries they don't get it for a while, or dvd's are super expensive.

But saying that, heres what i don't get. If someone loves a series enough to make a thread like this,to flame a licensing company, to look for "underground" groups that sub it, to even sometimes threaten the subber, why not try to buy the DVD's?

I often hear the excuse "well im supporting the fansub communities, since they put efforts into the subs, and R1 companies don't"

How do you know this? They could just go "OMFG this shitty series again, slap the subs on"

Licensing anime is a part of the so called anime circle of life. A show airs, its popular, it gets licensed.

Now picture for a minute that no show was ever licensed. Do you think anime would be at the level of popularity over here?

I admit that some DVD's are lacking, and the dubs suck. But come on, id rather have the ROD TV R1 dvd's, then even Aone's fansubbed version.

the difference between the PPV and DVD versions of ROD TV is like night and day. The DVD has a huge amount of detail.

For one, i am glad someone licensed gantz. Now i can see the undedited versions, full with nice subs.

All in all, i guess im saying this, If your favorite show of the month gets licensed, chill. If you love it, buy it on DVD, get the rips, or so on.

"omg why boycott a licensing company.. its what they do"

so.. its their business to BULLY THE END CONSUMER eh?

the dvd's quality or even their price has nothing to do with this.. weather they are butchered or pristine has nothing to do with this.. and once they buy a license your money doesnt go back to the creators in japan!

these greedy you know what's are trampling on our fair use rights for no other reason than "because they can".

i say hit them in their damn pocketbooks.

in the mean time waiy to go.. youve flooded a thread with a completely other purpose with this diatribe about how greedy monopolistic scum should be protected, even when they out and out abuse the priveledges given by twisting the meaning of US law.

basically, yes. They're not bullying you, they're bullying the people who sub their stuff, once they license it. They loose money when people can get fansubs instead, so they're trying to stop it. Your not being bullied in any way. Don't wanna buy the DVD's, don't buy em, there not pointing a gun at your head and foceing you to.

The company, ADV, or whoever, has to pay the creator/studio for it yes.

Your fair use rights? Jesus... to take a quote from complic8, on a thread in the general anime section:

"I'm not a lawyer, but back a little while ago I did a fair amount of research on the topic of fansub legality, and it basically amounts to this: fansubbing is illegal, get used to it."

i say hit them in their damn pocketbooks.
There are people who don't know about fansubs, don't watch fansubs, or don't care to. What about them ? Theres people who pick up a newtype japan, look at something like GITS SAC, and go, wow this looks cool, i can't wait till it comes over to the US. Im getting tired of the people who think its their god given right to get naruto, or another show.

I didn't flood a thread with useless crap. I did my point of view, am i allowed to have one? I didn't say anything about how they should be protected. My point, if you read was this:

They pay money to license something, distribution, localizing , and everything. For instance, say you wrote a novel in lets say russian, that sold 300 million copies in russia, best selling novel in russia.

Then, someone, or a group of people who speak russian, translate it to english, and sell it under a different title(yes, people do sell fansubs) , or distribute it freely. Do you think people want to buy something they can get for free?

I love fansubbers, i hang out in #animeone all the time. But i know where to draw the line. Boycotting a company won't do you any good.
