i dont believe that Gai and rock lee are the only ones who can open gates. i am currently away from my computer for the week, so i am not 100% sure.. but i seem to recall kakashi opening a gate when he was training to fight zabuza i think. anyone else remember this? he was climbing that rock wall with one hand and then he opened the first gate to make it to the top.. or maybe i'm being an idiot haha.. can anyone verify

RE: which do you think is most strong jutsu/ attack so far

then why did kakashi say "kai" (release) and they showed the chakra circulatory system and his brain as if he was removing the 1st gate near his brain

nah... i mean chakra circulating means nothing.. that's what it's supposed to do.. i do not think he can open the gates.. then he would be stronger than gai.. but they rival each other.. remember?

They did more than show chakra circulating. The showed a point on his chakra circulation system dissapearing. It's location corresponded to that of the first gate as shown when Gai was explaining it to everyone. He copied the gate opening technique from Rock.

Umm.. I believe you are being silly because 1.) Kakashi never climbed any rock wall during that whole Zubaza & Haku part (I don't think there was a rock wall around at all during those eps..) and 2.) He didn't open any gates to finish climbing... he just pushed himself real hard... u kno.. like when you ::insert toilet humor::

kakashi was climbing a rock when he was going to train sasuke and teach him chidori, that must be the part you are talking about

yeah, this was during the one month break or sometime before it, during the chuunin exam, can't remember which ep. As far as them having said something it about, they didn't say anything, but that scene was far too suggestive for me to leave it at chakra flowing. So was kakashi unveiling his eye to look at rock while he was opening the gates.

OKay... i do not think he can open the gate... i mean seriously.. THEY NEVER SAID IT... and if that is the case.. then i feel sorry for gai and rock lee.. that kakashi was able to copy their most powerful move...

V_V besides.. if kakshi was able to copy those stuffs.. why would gai and kakashi be rival? kakashi would be stronger than him..

besides.. it's stupid of kakashi if he opened to the gate just to climb a rock.. are you insulting kakashi?

RE: which do you think is most strong jutsu/ attack so far

to lift his weight completely into the air after climbing most of the mountain using one hand? i wouldnt question it

you guys act like unlocking gates is some incredible task for jounins to be able to perform, but if we hadnt seen ebisu perform kage bunshin, then you'd prolly say that it would be difficult to perform that jutsu for most jounins as well

what WOULD be insulting would be saying that some 2nd year genin like rock lee can perform something that a really skilled ninjutsu jounin cannot. kakashi knows all about the gates thing, so why wouldnt he know how to use it? now maybe he cant open 5 gates, but im sure opening 1 is no difficult task.

In that scene, kakashi said something to the effect that he wasn't as strong as he used to be. Then, you could see the struggling in his eye, right after that, you could his fingers slipping from the rocks. Right after that, he closed his eyes and the scene changed to show the chakra circulatory system with all of the gates (or should I say points). Zoomed into one of them (it was in his head where the brain would be) and the they showed it dissapear. Right after that, kakashi made the final climb. Not only did he make it, he made so easily that he pretty much propelled himself with that one arm he had nearly lost all strenght in. After hearing the description of what the opening of the first gate does (releases the limit the brain puts upon how much muscle power you can access) it seemed pretty clear that he opened the first gate. They didn't have to say anything because we had already gotten an explanation of it a few episodes earlier. Kind of like how they don't bother explaining how to mold chakra anymore.

Don't feel sorry for Rock and Gai, because I'd bet my last dollar that their bodies are far stronger than kakashi's, so they can probably make better use of the technique than kakashi can

Edit to Jesper:
I don't think he knew how to do it before he saw rock do it. There had to be a reason he unveiled his eye during the exam and I think it was to copy the technique. I don't think it was just to look and see inside, because I don't think the sharingan can do that, like the byakugan can. If his eye can't do that, and he already knows the technique, then there was no point at all. I'd like to think there was a point.

Episode 55, 13 min, 30 seconds, it shows kakshi climing a cliff and his foot support breaks and he is about to fall(his fingers are losing their grip), it goes to the chakara system focusing on the brain and Kakshi says Relase! then he throws him self up with one arm to the next spot.

I would say he released one gate, though I really doubt he copyed it because it isn't a technique(he didn't use hand seals as one hand was literally tied behind his back).

Hmmm since we are so intrigued about this I decided to go over the ep with that rock climbing scene (tookm e 10 mins to find.......) it was in EPISODE 55. And after viewing Lee's gate opening ep (49) fidning the quote "Secondary Lotus is a move that opens the first gate, the Open Gate... It unfastens the control of the brain, and enables a person to use his muscles at their limits." Although I was skeptic at first... It seems to be logical that Kakashi did open a gate to get that boost of energy and fling himself up with his middle and ring finger during episode 55 (yes there was a scene where it showed Kakashi's brain and then Kakashi says "Release".) So now I support the notion that Kakashi can open the gate! Bwhahahahahaha ..... ^_^v

::Edit:: Forgot to add that I also believe that Kakashi should have already known how to do the technique and he did not use his Sharingan during Lee's fight to copy it. Besides.. how many Juunin level battles have we seen thus far? From the point of the invasion and till Itachi we have seen Juunins own ass but it seems like their techniques are degraded compared to how they showed the characters do theri techniques during the Chuunin exam. Maybe we have yet to see a "true" juunin battle. I wanna see more hokage battles though! =/
