ok we have seen sound ninjas use sound.. sand ninjas use sand.. even waterfall ninjas use water but is there a ninja that fights with leaves?

why is it even called leaf village ?..

Well:
They use logs for the replacement technique, there are special moves such as Leaf Whirlwind Kick among others, and their surroundings are mainly leafy trees, etc.

Hope this makes sense, but the name of the village doesn't always relate to the moves or techniques of the occupants, but maybe their surroundings. The Hidden Air village, they probably don't use air attacks unless they break wind on the enemy, heh.

Leaf village is started by the First Hokage, who probably specialized in creating tree's jutsu or something like that. (Watch back the Hokage battle's). So thats probably where it all started from.

Anyway, their living in 'Fire country'. their village is the "leaf's". And they commonly use Fire as their attacks.

This is my theory on why its called the leaf village:
Well, a tree has many branches on it right? And each branch produces a whole bunch of leaves. Well, in the leaf village, the branches really represent all the ninja's (including villagers) and each ninja is specialized in his/her own technique(s) (like Shikamaru's family only use their Shadow's while Kiba's family work together with their dogs). I guess thats another reason why the leaf village is called what it is. But I guess the First Hokage's tree jutsu works also.

EDIT: I forgot to add that the leaves would be all of the ninja's techniques (like Naruto's branch would have Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, Sexy no Jutsu, Harem no Jutsu, Summoning, etc.)

it is explained in the manga.
the troublesome ninjas needed to learn to concentrate, so they put on leaf on their forehead to try and balance it. i guess the leaf became a symbol like, concentration or something.
but anyways Baki is from sand and he uses air blades. so your not necessaryly right.
but i believe the environment one would best fit this case..

yea exactly, another example is kankurou, he uses a freaking puppet, wat the fuck does a puppet have in common with sand...or unless its made of sand, but i doubt it

it was probably since the 1st hokages special jutsu was "forest genesis" or whatever it was called and no one could use the jutsu exept him. maybe he liked the forest? i dont really care tho.

i think i heard something like the they used to put leaf on their forehead to consentrade and thats why the name and the head band of leaf picture is on their forehead. no?

im pretty sure thats just some random trick that iruka knows......i doubt its the foundation of the whole leaf village concept

the village names tend to reflect the environment that the village is built in......
the leaf village is in a forest, the sand village is in a desert, the waterfall village is behind a waterfall...

Then where the hell is Cloud village? (the one in lightning country), are we expecting a village on a cloud? is Kishomoto going to copy one piece with the cloud island as well as what he did with Gaara?

just think about it, a shinobi who lived in low oxcygen conditions, they must have high stamina...



BTW: i'm aware of the lame possibilty that the cloud village is on top of a very high and foggy mountain, it just isn't a fun possibility...
