New Type USA Article on Naruto

Thanks to Breena for sending this bit in! The June issue of New Type USA has a small article published pertaining to the Naruto anime series. This article mentions that a new character may be introduced into the anime sometime after the Naruto movie is released, that did not appear in the Naruto manga.

Date (the chief director at studio perriot) suggested adding a few of their own episodes. "I was thinking we'd make naruto a bit cheerier than it has been up to now." He's contemplating inrtoducing a new character based on Mori no Ishimatsu -- a real historical figure who lived at the end of the Edo era. The character would be one who "loved wine and women, was quick to fight and lose his temper. The show hasn't had a character like that yet, so i thought it would be fun if a character like that got mixed up with Naruto somehow." The new character is tentatively slated to debut on TV after the theatrical release --- a stand alone original story helmed by Tesai Okamura.


copied from narutofan website if this is true it will mean countless filler eps to make up for the lack of a gap between anime and manga this sucks i hope this character is really cool cuz i don't want too watch countless filler eps

Don't just think that having an extra character will have more filler eps. Adding an extra character may help get the anime become more interesting without affecting the original storyline at all.

it says they are gonna add their own eps so obviously it will be filler and how are they gonna incorperate this new character in the story line it's gonna be like a totally different story then the manga

Honestly, they're going to have to start fillers sometime in the future anyway. The anime covers roughly two manga chapters per episode, which means the anime will have caught up to the manga within nine months or so.

It seems to me that much of the humor in Naruto has faded into the background since the beginning. Early on I was always laughing, but now the jokes are just every once in a while. I like the dark serious storylines, but I don't think adding some more light-hearted fun would hurt the series in the long run.

wow, that really sucks... but at least it shows they thinking forward, and probably won't do a 'kenshin' once the anime reaches the manga..

you can expect lots of moments like the 'konohamru has to pee' in the future, and even slower action than usual...

well, that sucks to be an anime-only fan...

there's no better chance than now to try and convert a few of you, come and read the manga, join the exciting thirl of the plot which is happenning now, and not the one of ten months ago! and when you read the anime, you don't need to think "was this part done only to fill up screen time?", you know that you get the pure version of Naruto...

so, what are you waiting for? go and read the manga!


seriously though, pure filler things (new charecters and plots) are never a good sign, it should be banned from existment.

they could fix it another way just release 2 or 3 chapters a week of naruto to compensate for the anime's speed, even better a volume a month that would be great, let's kidnap kishimoto and make him draw more naruto with a gun to his head[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img]

Filler episodes are almost always unavoidable. However, making up a character is.

Newtype isn't known for their journalistic accuracy, so I'll hope this is a fake rumor.

Its ok to have filler episodes. One Piece has had them. But they should not introduce any new main characters.

This anime goes slow enough. We dont need anything like this in Naruto. How much more "Humor" do you need in a Ninja series when you have so many Ninjas cracking jokes already. It already takes an episode to get the first punch of a fight in, if they start doing things like this then it will take an episode to set up for the episode where they get the first punch in. Then they will talk even more during fights and sooner or later they will have Naruto powering up Kyubi for 19 minutes just to charge at the enemy right before the episode ends.

Wake up people, this anime is becoming more and more DBZ each day. It doesnt mean you have to hate the anime, I still like it. I just accept that this isnt much different then Goku and his merry bunch.

well... we've had 2 chapters of manga in 1 episode for most of the time, we have 2 chapters now, and I suppose for some time we'll have 2 chapters...

then, they can make 1 chapter per ep. so they won't catch up the manga.

but then i'll start reading manga...

We don't really need a new character, is it so hard for them to focus on all the other cool characters(Neji) rather then create a whole new character.

more or less this N.C will be hanging around Naruto alot contributing to the comic relief, maybe like how Naruto and Sasuke were but this N.C will make Naruto even angrier and will make him run into trees and fall in the water

as if there arent enough women chasers in the series........
i still think it'd be a good idea to have a mini anime-only saga somewhere that involves a bunch of the other major characters that dont get enough air time
it would not only make things more interesting than seeing naruto's face all the time, but would help the manga get farther ahead as well

Yeah agree with you about it should be about the other major characters that don't get enough air time. I think that would be a lot better and more interesting. Or at least some more background on some of the characters. ...well, all I know is I hope that those episodes don't turn out like that Jump Festa OVA because I thought that was very dumb and didn't follow very well -_-
