Kishimoto likes using the underdogs. That not every useless person is totally useless. And that people do find their niche in what their good at. But like i've said before, not every one of them is meant to be on the battlefield. Each has their own different roles.
However I have a feeling it's going to take a long while before Sakura becomes useful. She's only 12 for God's sake!
I'd give her another 12 years. And lots of people are speculating that she'll be like Tsunade. Maybe not as good I would think, but we'll have to see.

About the resemblence's, theyre pretty obvious, but still fun because the 3 sannin's are so different from each other, making Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura become totally different from each other..

Well...it has been, what, 86 episodes, and what, 209 or so manga chapters (though I haven't read a head)...As far as I know, Sakura really hasn't developed herself after all this time, so makes me think she won't ever be that strong of a ninja, and besides, unlike most of the others, they have drive and a lot of reason to be a ninja, Sakura dosen't...so far it seems her role is the one to get hurt etc. so that the other team member/person fights to protect her (Naruto, Lee, etc)
damnit forgot this is anime only chapter.
sakura sucks, will hopefuly die and get replaced by a more talented ninja. ;p

Resemblence wise, we definatly see resemblence with Jiraiya and Naruto, some with Sasuke and Orochimaru, but really nothing with Sakura and Tsunade...I think that's an insult to Tsunade, actually, cause she seemed to have talent back then.

Sakura will become stronger, probably her character will be build up in the future( I never read the Manga). If they will build up the character now it will have an conflict to the other story. The Uchiha clan story, they are still building up Jiraya's character, and other story. If they build up Sakura's character now it may be to much to handle and the story may got messy.
A good example of this was when the village was attack they are so many story it did not get messy but they have to go to scene to a another scene and another scene. They have to cut a scene to go to another scene.
The point is that if they build up the character of all people at the same time it would be to much for us to handle. Imagine in a 3 episode there is a 10 subplot being introduce, that will not be good.
actually jiraiya IS very talented/strong that's why 3rd chose those 3 as his students and he even holds the name for that so we did know he was very strong it's not like he's developing now, but sakura is just nothing even almost every character became kind sronger but after 86 episodes she still the same and i dont see the point what she's waiting for to show off
orn is right after 86 episodes many of the characters became kind of stronger, can't say the same for sakura...she's just..there..
yes.. even after all that they had to go throug... sakura haven't learned anything
