easiest course of action for parents of rebellious children to take is just to send them to boot camp.

12:30 .....
yep.....thats when i put the air cold and snuggle in my sheets
I really see no reason for parents being locked up for wat the kid is doing. especially at their age... I started cutting class at around well past 5 months or so (im 16 rite now). I got a choice of wat i wanna do and wat i dont wanna do. screw the government. they wanna arrest the parents? PLEASE go choke on a pretzle bush =)
I am SO LUCKY i aint living in 1 of them really really strict ruled states about cutting class. lol or else i wouldn't have a life
actually i think that was a UK thing, havent heard of that happenin in the US yet

nah cuz i was talkin about the setup in mass. all you see in schools is social workers left and right, if parents cant handle their kids they put them on probation and if they keep skipping they get locked up. the only time parents get locked up is when they dont do nothin about it. its kinda a bad setup though, i swear they like lockin up kids. kids go there and come out more messed up and dont even bother going back to school.
Yeah the situation occured in England.Originally posted by: AssertnFailure

We don't have boot camp (as far as I know) so I don't think that'd be an option. I don't really know much about what boot camp is, but isn't it basically getting a load of kids together and putting them through military-esque exercises? That'd suck! Though I guess it could sort out troublemakers...whether it'd work I don't really know...
Merely cutting school isn't enough to get parents prosecuted, these girls spent practically no time in school, wasting taxpayers money (which is desperately needed for the NHS, and our 'worst in Europe' public transport systems) while they throw any prospects they may have away just cos they didn't want to learn. There is a difference between "rebellion" or simply cutting class and hardly ever turning up to school...to miss as much school as these girls did is pretty pathetic but what surprised me is that their mother being sent to prison seemed to give them a kick up the arse and they actually started attending...so they must at least have SOME respect for their mother...
I think its important to show kids how important it is to turn up to school, but I'm not convinced that threatening parents with jail is the best way, as many such kids just wouldn't care and would keep reoffending...
Its hard for me to think what should be done, short of escorting them to school and not letting them out of your sight (which is obviously impossible) I have no idea what the solution is, I read today our government spent £800m on trying to tackle truancy last year and it literally did fuck all.
Incidentally, JusDaMan...so you wouldn't be able to have a life AND go to school at the same time? Do you sleep all afternoon and night as well? Or does school in America end at like 10:30 at night? Ah well, your choice
maybe JusDaMan is like some people who prolly figure that those extra 5-10 min of classtime that they spend out in the halls gives them a life
what if the girls didnt get along well with thier parents and didnt really care if they were locked away? Then what?

Exactly, thats pretty much what I was trying to say in my last post.Originally posted by: AssertnFailure

wa? lol that post was way too long to read... Hey im just saying that school is pointless to me and mad boring O.o... and i really dont leave the last 5-10 minute of class assertnfailure... either beginning or middle of class. there dont seem to be a point to leaven in last 5-10 minute...
so uh......what exactly do you do in the halls of your highschool then? couldnt be anything more exciting than just sleeping in class

Don't worry about the length (not really long by my standards , I'm a pretty fast typer), only the last line applied to you (the bit you read).Originally posted by: JusDaMan

I'm not slagging you for skiving (there aren't many people who didn't, and I used to do it if I wanted to get out of handing in homework or if I was feeling lazy etc), I just thought what you said sounded slightly strange.
at my school when we skip me and my friends go to gym and just play ball. funner than sleeping.
hmm......am i the only one who took advanced classes that not only required me to show up to get all the notes, but to spend classtime in the easier periods for doing homework?

yep. play ball, go chill outside for a while then come back to school, go to the lunchroom and play some celo or crazy 8s. talk alittle wif the security guards. u'll be surprized on how many things u can do out of class.
like fail to learn the english language? lol
sorry, i went to two highschools each day, so i didnt have much time to sit around and slack off, so i couldnt really relate.....but ah those were the days

not trying to brag or any bs like that, but i have a genius iq. but i also have adhd, which isnt a good combo. so ive been getting in trouble basically since 2nd grade, it was kinda funny though because i was always getting suspended but they had to keep me in honors classes because my state test scores were high. im taking ap english and history next year, but i still skip sometimes to have fun with my boyz.Originally posted by: AssertnFailure

Never spent so much time on classwork, even if it was an advanced course.
lol i get off my compa t 200AM then goto sleep around 230 takes me 30 mins to fall asleep then i fade back and out of sleep during my first 2 periods then i take a 10 min nap in my 3rd block course about every day im on the buss think oh god i need to sleep but when i get home i iether watch tv or go on comp
I go to bed between 11 -12, cause I have to be at school at 7:00 am, and I have an extra after school period.
On the subject of skipping class - my school has really strict tardy/truancy policy too. if you have 10 or more excused and unexcused absences, you lose credit in that class, unless you testify in front of the school board. also, if you have more than 5 tardies, you get a detention , and your parents get called. My scholl isn't a private school either - it's just a regular public school. Oh, I'm in Washington (state, not D.C.).
my teach is nice? not? she let me sleep the entire period and when the bell rang she tapped me in the shoulder and said have a nice day and gave me a detention. lol. in da mornings i play amgic wif dem rockers
