Did you misspell "Terminology", or is that the way the "artist" spells it?
“For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?”

Break it up you two.
SK, this is a verbal warning. Tone it down and stop calling forum members names.
I thought you wanted to come back to these forums?
seriously, enough. Get back on topic.
If you really want to duke it out, go take it to PMs.
Humans are different from animals. We must die for a reason. Now is the time for us to regulate ourselves and reclaim our dignity. They get exposed to new and unique stuff that doesn't hit the airwaves thanks to the magic of Internet downloading, but they only hear hip-hop or rap on the radio as they are swapping their new Radiohead CDs out.
Well, that and the other obvious issue I won't mention.
I'm currently playing weezy mixtapes over and over again.
I listen to Hip Hop cuz I'm from the hood.
Dude? Yes, you're right, dutch RAP sucks, but I'm talking about hip-hop.Originally Posted by Turkish-S

I don't even think The Opposites are worth listening to, let alone Jeugd van Tegenwoordig! So there you have it!!!
But some other good dutch artists: Kubus, Jawat!, Duvelduvel, Blaxtar, Typhoon, C-Mon & Kypsky and sometimes Raymzter... Maybe even a little Brainpower.
If you didn't know, Termanology, Ludacris and Xzibit are all NAMES! So I don't know who you're looking out for, but they're already pretty hopeless if they don't get that... Just saying..Originally Posted by Animeniax

And a quick question, what music do you listen to? If you do at all...
To SK: Termanology sounds pretty south, not my style... Don't know where Boston lies...

Actually I'm into J-pop, J-rock, and J-hiphop (to a lesser degree). The thing about J-hip-hop is that the artists are still true to the roots of hiphop with the beats and attitudes. Their lyrics aren't all about how many cars they have or what champagne they drink or how many women they get. I've seen enough of hip hop on American TV cause it's everywhere, diluted and made mainstream. When you have old women "living hip hop" asking each other "where you at?" in Motorola cell phone commercials, that's a good signal the end is near.

Gotta agree with Animaniax here. But as far as J-hiphop's "roots" are concerned, it's kinda funny how popular it's become without having the obvious racial influence that early American hiphop had. It's like Japan jumped on the rap bandwagon after America had made it mainstream. I think they'll always be missing that aspect of it, which could be a good thing or a bad thing, considering even American hiphop/rap has lost that key social commentary factor.
But I also don't have much experience with Japanese rap beyond Hero's Comeback (the current Naruto OP song), and stuff by M-flo which I've already mentioned.
<@Terra> he told me this, "man actually meeting terra is so fucking big", and he started crying. Then he bought me hot dogs
Definitely right on about the lack of racial roots in the culture among J-hiphop artists and fans, but at least they're still true to the art at this point, whereas American hip-hop has degenerated into a money-making enterprise. The Japanese take anything and make it better.

Hmm...Ive heard some rap from Japan, and while some of it had a good rhythm to it, its still missing something...intangible; i cant quite put my finger on it. But lately, ive been listening to lots of De La (if u havent done so, cop the impossible mission mixtape) and the latest pharoahe monche joint (fyre-blazing hotness).
And actually, from the point that rap aguably became the "main element" in hop hip, it was all about money. I mean, since companies discovered that people will but rap albums, its always been like that, and a lotta good acts cant get on cause some boardroom doesnt think so-and-so can sell enough records to make some old white guys more money that they dont need....but im getting preachy
Anyway, a good book to read is "can't stop, won't stop" by jeff chang. its quite an amazing book that's like a love letter to hip-hop, and at the same time, maybe its epitaph.
P.S. and even though those commercials are B.S. anyone can live hip hop, but its not really about how u talk (to a certain extent). Its all about expression.
Sure by stating the obvious rap overall is whack, but you make it sound that America has nothing to offer anymore, while I'm over here still discovering... I've got an whole list of artists I don't even know 25% off... And I'm not talking about any Young Somewhat or Little Fizzle or some change...
So anyway, Animeniax, do you have any other recommendations concerning Nippon Hip-Hop except for M-Flo?
And why the hell does my rep suck!? Did someone do that? How does it even work!?

If you're looking for good Hip Hop on the radio, you're probably not going to find it. Mainstream Hip Hop stations are geared toward 12 year old white girls, which real Hip Hop is not geared toward at all. If you want real shit you're expected to look for it yourself, theres plenty of albums with horrible poppy singles but are actually complete albums. Also put on MTV Jams, they actually play good songs. You don't here Common - The People on the radio or Kanye West - Stronger but its all over Jams.
Note: Termanology is a rapper from Lawrence, MA about 20 miles NW of Boston. Boston is a northeast city and is no where near the south. As such, Term sounds like a throwback to true street East Coast rappers, most notably the late also Puerto Rican legend, Big Pun.
I really think that true Hip Hop can only be enjoyed by people who can truly feel the message of the music.
I don't think the other elements of Hip Hop are forgotten at all. I'm working at a United Way youth program servicing inner city kids, many of them from the projects. The Hip Hop culture is alive and well. Girls Double Dutch. Guys freestyle on the bleachers while others play ball. Theres spraypainted murals on display (and some illegal ones around). Kids talk about whats hot on the street, from mixtapes to albums to sneakers. At the Friday block parties there are B-boys breakin and pop lockin.
Hip Hop is NOT DEAD. Album sales from Common and Kanye will prove it...
Don't know where to dump this, but I guess it's related to HipHop or R&B:
Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" played on a Theremin
<3 the Theremin
<@Terra> he told me this, "man actually meeting terra is so fucking big", and he started crying. Then he bought me hot dogs
@Killa-Eyez: I never recommended m-flo, that was someone else.
Big Pun died? Another rap-related killing or something else? Chris Rock would be all over this if it was 1995.

@ SK: So true!!!!
@ Animeniax: Sorry, thought it was you, but you don't have any recomendations? Been asking for a while now... And dudes, about my rep, WTF? Explain please...

Now that I think about it I remember hearing that Big Pun died. I think I was confusing him with Fat Joe. Is Fat Joe still around?
