Question 2. Who do you think are the biggest sellouts?
Question 2. Who do you think are the biggest sellouts?
It would be between ja-rule, ll cool J, benzino, and Ice cube at a certain point of his career
you forgot nelly, he seems like the biggest one of all(with the exception of LL)
R.I.P Captain America.
i hate the way people use the term sellout as a bad thing.
I just registered to say most of guys have the worst taste in Hip-Hop.
Check out some good stuff like:
Common - I Used To Love H.E.R.
Aceyalone - The Guidlines
Blackalicious - Deception (Don't Let Money Change Ya)
Gang Starr - Royalty
Five Deez - Decapitated Orgasms
Extended Famm - FYIRB [Fuck You I Rhyme Better] (Remix)
The Roots - Seed 2.0
Louis Logic - The Ugly Truth
Outkast - Chonkyfire
Eyedea & Abilities - Now
Pharoahe Monch - Fuck You
Atmosphere - The Lady With The Tattoed Hands
Cee-Lo - The Art of Noise
Illogic - Hate In A Puddle
Soul Position - Share This
Knives122, yes you're right, I did forget about Nelly and them bitch ass saint lunatics. I included LL because it's been years he should have retired, but he's still trying to be in the game.
chambers, being a sellout is not a good thing, and I know you would take it as negative if someone would say you were one.
Concentric, it's not because you like something that what other people like is the worst, because by thinking this way, you're just being ignorant. I'm not saying you can't say your opinion, because you're free to do whatever you want, but it's not right to criticize other people. I don't like underground rap that much, but I still like it, what I like the most are mixtapes, but it doesn't mean that mixtapes are the best, it's just I like remixes and freestyles better than underground.
i never thought i'd meet another human being who knows themOriginally posted by: Concentric
Louis Logic - The Ugly Truth
Illogic - Hate In A Puddle
when my EPS doesn't overheat
rebootin and not lose an entire beat <-- lol
Fair enough, I'm just stating musically, lyrically and subtance-wise what many people here are rating as being "good hip-hop" are poor, I'm sure in terms of being jiggy, gangsta whatever on the level they probebly come up spades. Anyway, I dislike the term underground, it's so cliched. Everything i mentioned was either major label or independent.Originally posted by: oceen246

shadowmantis - hehe mad, i didn't expect anyone to listen to those two in particular. You herd the new Illogic album? It's probebly one of my fav albums this year.
Damn this thread got big... I stopped listening to Hip Hop a while ago mainly because everyone is talking about money, hoes, etc. and i find all that stuff overrated and repetive when everyone is rapping about it. Also the new songs with the catchy phrases that people keep singing is just so damn annoying IMO. Last time I listened to Hip hop was probably when Thugz Mansion was on the radio. Gotta love Tupac, his lyrics were mostly about the harsh realities of life and it brings me up when I feel down. Bone Thugz did the same although Tupac is my fav. rapper of all time. Just my lil peice of opinion.
if you're still interested in it, i'd like to point you in this direction: art of rhymeOriginally posted by: DraGunZer0

Yeah thats whats ruining hip-hop. Seriously dude, download Common - I Used To Love H.E.R. and a few of the other songs I listed (i really recommend out of the list i posted the louis logic song, the roots song and the blackalicious one). I think it may change your mind about hip-hop.Originally posted by: DraGunZer0

you know i can honestly say i am disgusted... you guys talking about rap and forgot one of the biggiest rap artist (in my opinion the best artist to ever live) the godfather.. NAS!... whent his guys first albumn came out.. pac was shitting his pants afraid of nas talent.. pac himself said that this guy is the real thing... i mean listen to nas - ny state of mind.. and then ny state of mind pt 2 (relates to his crew the firm).... he is most lyrically gifted person... the metaphors he uses cant compare to anyone not even pac... but then agaain you cant compare pac to nas because both are totally different... pac always stays on life stories.. and maintains a straight forward message... where as nas methaphorically speaks his mind... you guys also forgot about MOBB DEEP!... holy shit .. my favorite albumn of all time (next to stillmatic) has to be mura muzik by mobb deep.. fuckin awesome... that cd is pure classics... (o ya somone mentioned BIG L.. he fkn is awesome.. i call him and biggie the true devils son... [devil son.. on of big L's track])
edit: pacs favorite song by nas was i gave you power...
highbass, don't worry, we didn't forget about those great artists you mentioned, but we were talking about rap in general, cause truth is, eventhough there are so many great artists, there are most garbage coming than good shit, and people coming up with garbages are always on top.
well i had to add my 2 cents... because hoenstly.. i dont think nas gets the respect he deserves....... he fkn is awesome.....
o ya there was a post of underground rap... i like immortal technique (although idont think he is much underground now as he was before).. he tackles like nowadays issues... like terrorism for example... somthing relevant to todays history.. i dunno most people i know didnt real like him but i like his stay and shit... o ya bout freestyle... i think best freestyle artist has to be mad skillz holy shit this guy can FREEstyle no other...
btw im listening to da brat f big - da b side
they're only on top if you turn your TV on erase VH1 and BET out of your memory, and snoop around for good rap, if you're really looking for it. and i'm not talking "pac&big". that website i posted a few posts ago is a nice place to start, there's some really nice reviews/soundclips/interviews/etc.Originally posted by: oceen246

I was refering artists like nelly and the saint lunatics, D12 without eminem, most of the down sounth rappers, etc....
imo mixtapeusa.com, and theresd another nymixtapes.com or something like that, the first place used to have a thing to listen to the mixtapes not sure if they still do. btw anyone know if dilated ppls cd is good i aint picked it up yet
method mans new cd (it is in the UK at least) is pretty good, theres some good beats on it, my fav is a meth an ghostface one, think its number 13 and kanye MAY have produced it.
my friend got a spot in harlem, and I get all my mixtapes for free, since he gets them directly from the DJ's. I saw Kay Slay, clue, Big Mike, and a bunch of others there.
edit:
I got Meth new album, he said that was his best one, but from my opinion, it's the worst. I only like 2 songs on it, and I'm already tired of one
damn your lucky, i live in fla now and where i live its not as easy to get mixtapes for the normal 3-5 bucks. i just payed 8 bucks for the new envy.
