lol I used to love Chevelle till Pete Loefller kicked his brother (the bassist, I forget his name) out of the band. That's your own brother... You don't do that kind a shit. Absolutley rediculous..Originally Posted by The Heretic Azazel

my friend gave me metal for the masses cd number four. It actually isnt that good.
the only good songs were by God Forbid, Diecast, Shadows Fall, Dimmu Borgir, Soilwork, and In Flames.
The rest just sucked (that last 10 songs werent even metal )
Alice in Chains have announced they will tour a few clubs in the U.S. in late May.
My favorite fucking band. Ever. Layne Staley is a big reason I'm still alive. I miss him so.
Seems like this thread is dying. We can't have that can we?
I'll just recommend some nice 80's hair metal, far from all of you will probably like this but give it a shot. 2 bands i have listened alot to lately is Lita Ford and Vixen, just go get there Best Of albums and listen to those.
Other 80's bands you should try out:
Nasty Idols
Quiet Riot
Whitesnake
Poison
Great White
White Lion
L. A. Guns
Faster Pussycat
Give it a shot, you might like it.
Atreyu - A Death Grip On Yesterday (Promo)
The actual CD came out today.
Been listening a lot to the black metal band Mayhem lately. Two reasons:
1. The old stuff is fucking awesome, especially Deathcrush & De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (for any fan of metal, that's a big "duh" I know)
2. I've joined a thrash/black metal band and we play Mayhem stuff during the rehearsals. Damn, you get rather sweaty after a few rounds of Pure Fucking Armageddon when you're a drummer
Whatever happened to "Extreme Lotus"?
I think I know precisely what I mean
when I say it's a schpadoinkle day
lol you remember that? It died out rather quickly unfortunately...
I don't think I'm even metal enough to listen to Mayhem on a consistent basis. Just wow.Originally Posted by Terracosmo
Aaaaaanyway Tool's new single, Vicarious, has FINALLY hit the radio waves. You can watch a fan made video for it (actually, it's the live video they played for the song Reflection in 02) here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMF-228pBIo
I'm still letting the song grow on me. It..er.. sounds a bit like rehashed material.
Noooooooooo, I could understand hearing that from someone who isn't very familiar with tool but your a true fan!!! I haven't heard it yet but now that I've read this, I have my doubts...Originally Posted by The Heretic Azazel
Well you must not be very familiar with Tool if you won't click that shit and listen!
I was going to listen either way lol! I am on dialup right now so its taking ages to load, but I am listening to it right now. The intro sounds a little rehashed but the main goodness of the song is fucking magic!!! God I can't wait for this album to drop!
What do you guys mean by rehashed?
I didn't think it would be possible, but Tool have actually evolved even more. The music is insanely well made. Some parts feel like they are playing backwards.
EDIT: Listened to it some more and now it's really grown on me. One thing that striked me is that the lyrics are more concrete, whereas on Lateralus they are really spiritual and abstact.
It didn't exactly sound rehashed, just a little similar to a couple songs on Lateralus put together. I still absolutely love the song though. I love the way Maynard sings on the song and I agree with what you said about the lyrics being more concrete. It's definately got me more impatient than I already was to buy this album. I ripped the song from the video to mp3 and left it on repeat all night, and boy was it nice to wake up to Maynard chanting "Why don't we just admit it" followed by Danny's beautiful drumming!

Altough Maynard is miles beyond every other vocalist ever, I feel like he isn't using his full power in this song. It seems like he has taken alot of inspiration from his projects with A Perfect Circle. Some sections of the song actually really remind me of Schism from Lateralus, but I doesn't sound like they have reused anyrthing.
The song is growing on me but el boss is right, Vicarious is kindalike a revamped Schism.

I've never been able to wait for an actual release when I can download first.
With Tool it isn't a matter of fearing a bad quality albumthough, like with a lot of others, it's that it naturally has to be so great that my impatience kicks in and I have to hear it.

:O I do not understand people who wait when they can download...
Of course you buy the actual record once it hit the stores, but why wait until then?
