METAL!!! \m/

Well that depends a little, industrial in itself isn't actually a music genre but rather a definition of certain elements found in a song. I read an awesome essay about that once, I will try to find it again. Bottom-line is that today, what people think of when one says "industrial metal" is simply metal with electronic elements. Laibach is electronic, but they don't have solos or any other metal elements really, unlike Rammstein (which also doesn't have many solos, but nontheless is a metal band). Then again, categorizing within metal is one hell of a chore, and according to the wiseasses at www.metal-archives.com, anything with keyboards in it is false metal

Edit: On a separate note, does anyone know why Tool suddenly released two DVD singles from their 2001 album? Really weird business trick...

If anyone cares, I've added a vocal track to the doom metal song from a few pages back.

http://valethcosmo.free.fr/Kil...to%20Toe%20(Vocal).mp3

You get to hear Terra growl and pant like a schoolgirl!

Here are the lyrics: (and no, it's not a very serious song)

Unknowingly
In the wilderness
The smell of fresh flesh
The man glares
The woman fears
As she always has
A newborn child
Too young to understand
All is black
A portal to madness

An acoustic guitar duo who cover Metallica's instrumental Orion. Thought it was pretty cool so I'm posting it on over.

Huh...that's a pretty interesting find man. Good stuff. Everytime I think I've gotten better, people like that show up to remind just how far I'll most probably never get.
"You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood."

Hell no, I'm an avid disc collector. Without exaggerating I can say that half of my money goes to buying music.

Oh and I wouldn't categorize Laibach as metal, by the way ;S

I mostly download but i do buy cds to. I have a hard time finding bands i like, i live in a rather small town and there aren't any good metal record stores here. I can't buy online since i don't have a credit card and no one wants to help me with that stuff. Lastly i get a little over a 100 bucks a month. I spend most of it on entertainment with friends and beer, there simply isn't enough left to buy records. Sure i can buy one or two once in a while but not more.

On a entirely diffrent note.

Crashdiet bandmember Dave Lepard died two days ago, that would be friday right? He was found in his appartment saturday morning. The cause of death isn't determined yet as far as i know.

Go download or buy their album, Rest in Sleaze. I bought this album before christmas, one of the best albums ever.

Well sometimes you just have to go too where the band is, and not just sit and wait for them to come too you.

I just started too listen to Cradle of Filth again. "Lovecraft And Witch Hearts" is probably my favorite album with them. You should all give it a try if you havn't heard them/it before.

I was never a CoF fan. From what I remember about them, they're really mediocre and gimmicky. What other bands do you like Twist? (I'm sure you answered this before, but I'm not about to rummage through 30 pages of posts )

Terra, how many black metal church burnings have you had in your neighborhood this year?

I live in Arkansas so not many for me!

Not as many as one might expect, though it's mostly in Norway that stuff happens. :S
That actually merits some research. Like, how much the general burning of churches has changed compared to when Mayhem were active.

New metal recommendations:

Kalmah - The Black Waltz
- Newest album from Kalmah, their heaviest one yet. Melodic death metal from Finland, with a lovable keyboard to back it up.

Elvenking - The Winter Wake
- The new offering from the italian folk/power metal combo. Pretty nice, though not as good as Heathenreel.

Moonsorrow - ALL ALBUMS
- God I love this band. I know I've said it before, but they are so FUCKING AWESOME. Epic, folky, heavy, melodic, extreme... it all mingles, it all rocks so much that it makes me want to cry. And dance!

...against my better judgment I'm going to trust terra's suggestion and see what this Moonsorrow group is all about... i'm really not much of a metal-head (in fact, I really mostly appreciate 'chill' music) so let's see how this goes...

Humans are different from animals. We must die for a reason. Now is the time for us to regulate ourselves and reclaim our dignity. The one who holds endless potential and displays his strength and kindness to the world. Only mankind has God, a power that allows us to go above and beyond what we are now, a God that we call "possibility".

I'm in the middle of listening to Edguy's new record, Rocket Ride, and it's a fucking masterpiece.
