As I Lay Dying, The 69 Eyes (if they qualify), HIM(if qualifies)
I'm official.
Wow im starting to like CoB, and as I lay dying, also can you guys recommend me to bands just like as I lay dying and SOAD
Edit: Also so far, I think Kittie is the best girl band. She was kind alright till she cut her hair....
No one but the enemy will ever teach you how to destroy and conquer. Only the enemy shows you where you are weak. Only the enemy tells you when he is strong. And the rules of the game are what you can do to him and what you can stop him from doing to you. I am your enemy from now on. From now on, I am your teacher."

Looking for some new bands, suggestions? anything along the Opeth,Lacuna coil,Nightwish strand or even the CoF,CoB, Atreyu,Archenemy,Annorexia Nervosa line works too.
Children of Bodom has just released their new album "Are You Dead Yet?". GET IT, IT'S AWESOME!
Right now I'm listening to Novembre also, which is the first Doom metal band I've gotten into. Some say that they sound a bit like Opeth.
Currently into Running wild, recommendations this far are Under Jolly Roger and Black Hand Inn, 2 awesome albums. It's heavy metal about pirates, could if be more awesome?
The 69 eyes and HIM are good. Listening alot to Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams by 69 Eyes and Love Metal by HIM. Those 2 albums + Under Jolly Roger are actually featured on my mp3 at the moment.
Great albums if you get the chance go get them.
Metal about pirates?? I HAVE to download this!
Atreyu has a new album out I believe. Although I can't imagine it can possibly be as good as Suicide Notes And Butterfly Kisses My God that was Good. I remeber seeing Atreyu and God Forbid at Hunters pt in SF a few summers ago... it was unbeliavable.
When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments. Here was a machine of precision and balance for the convenience of man. And (unlike subsequent inventions for man's convenience) the more he used it, the fitter his body became. Here, for once, was a product of man's brain that was entirely beneficial to those who used it, and of no harm or irritation to others. Progress should have stopped when man invented the bicycle. ~Elizabeth West, Hovel in theHills
Atreyu? Is that even considered metal?

As of late I've been listening to...
- X-Japan (well, they ARE my favorite band - supreme metal! Also I just bought Jealousy, fucking expensive with the shipment and all)
- Reverend Bizarre (and I've come to the conclusion that doom metal isn't for me. I yawned when I heard this)
- Beseech (new album out, it's so-so)
- Naglfar (new album out, better than I thought)
Yeah
Beseech's female singer has a beautiful voice but the guy sounds blahhhh

Indeed.
Okay I just tried Epica. Being a big fan of Nightwish, people have always recommended Epica to me because that band also plays symphonic power metal and has a female soprano. I tried The Phantom Agony (2003) first, and it was a good album. Good enough for me to try their newest release, Consign to Oblivion (2005). WHAT A FUCKING GOOD ALBUM! It's absolutely beautiful, the orchestra blends perfectly with the power metal, and goes directly to the heart. Also, in the song Trois Vierges, Simone (vocalist) does a duet with Roy Khan (from Kamelot). Roy is one of my favorite vocalists so that's totally awesome. I guess he is "repaying" the debt, since Simone sang on "Somewhere in time" (from Kamelot's newest album - The Black Halo). Or maybe she was the one who repaid a debt, because I'm not sure which of the albums that came first. ANYHOW! Check 'em out!
Also, if you are really into symphonic music (like I am) also try their release "The Score - An epic journey". It also came out this year, and it's actually the soundtrack to a new dutch movie called "Joyride". There are almost no vocals on it, and it's definitely not metal, but it's beautiful music. I really recommend that one. As far as I know, it's the first time a metal band does a soundtrack for a movie.
AAAAH! This thread was on page 2 so lets bump it up to page 1 again.
Thinking of trying out this band, Epica sounds interesting. Roy Khan is the man so that duet song has to be good.
EDIT: What would a post in here be without an album recommendation?
Try out Crashdiet - Rest in Sleaze. It's Glam metal similar to Mötley Crüe awesome shit. I really hope they start a trend, they look badass to.
Just check this pic out:
Crashdiet is great.
HIM's new album is out. Entitled "Dark Light". Get it already!
As usual it's not really metal, but rather gothic rock with a metal edge. Regardless, it's awesome.
Man, I need to stop not having internet. I disappeared for a long while again exactly because of that. Anyway, first order of business once I got back on was to get some new music. And I did. Leaves Eyes. I cannot believe the size of the smile on my face! These guys are so freaking awesome. I'd imagine Terra and PSJ have at least heard of them, but for anyone else who hasn't, give them a try. I also purchased the latest opeth album. I heard the described on by a dj on wsou as a band that never disappoints, so I tried it out. I'm not disappointed. In fact, I'm flawed, specially on ghost of perdition, the first song on the album. It's damn near flawless metal. Was also able try out nightwish and anorexia nervosa. It doesn't get much prettier than nightwish, but anorexia nervosa....can't quite form an opinion on that yet. They're so fucking loud I can't tell what's happening. But overall and by far I'm enjoying these hidden troves of metal. Soooo much...
"You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood."

Leaves' Eyes is a pretty band, definitely check out their new album Vinland Saga.
