RE: METAL!!! \m/

probably the most retarded thread, but whatever
i like goth rock, which could be, in a way, classified as metal. nightwish, after forever, stuff like that. also, prog metal like tool and stuff. i like classic rock the most, the who and jimi.

'can you dance to hiphop'? maybe. you sure can dance to hip pop, though. 50 cent is not (read: NOT) hiphop. him, eminem, ja rule (recent crap), nelly, all those idiots, are backstreet boys with gold chains and a curses.

if you like 'hiphop', i suggest you check out groups like jedi mind tricks, binary star, outerspace, talib kweli (his stuff with hi tek), and ye olde gangstarr and wu tang.
just say no to mtv, you just might avoid going to hell

METAL!!! \m/

lol i dont understand how this thread is even the slightest bit retarded. I get your point about hip-hop though.
I'm not sure if it fits in the same catagory (probly more rock than metal), but my all time favourite band Linkin Park is definately worth mentioning. Their tracks are just awsome and their live performances are even better.

I have to admit, my favourite "metal" or "hxc" or "rock" bands in general are mostly local bands around where I live. That's most of the stuff I listen to. I mean, sure I listen to Tool (which is my all-time favourite band), and Evergreen Terrace, and Bullet for My Valentine, And Hopesfall (the older), and Bleeding Through, and Atreyu, and bands like that.... but most of what I listen to are local bands: MSD, Incursion, Antikythera, (intheclear), Five Bolt Main (which contains members of Flaw), 7DaySun, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, A Present Day Nightmare, Straight Line Stitch, Arcane Saint, PUC.... and I can name a lot more.

Anyways... while much "mainstream" metal is definitely worth listening to, I find local music fresher... 'cause there's really no boundaries. And band members treat their fans as equal; you can chat away with any of the band members at a show or online or even at their place of employment (yes, they have other jobs). So, while the rewards aren't as plentiful as "making it big", the lifestyle is much more appreciable.

I'm completely lost on what I'm saying now, so I'm just gonna shut up... haha...

I hate local bands. I'm going to be honest and tell you why. I AM FUCKING JEALOUS. Every time I see some "regular guy" standing on the stage, I get pissed off. So until I actually have my own breakthrough, I will never be able to appreciate local music acts. They are too close. I can't take it. Fuck them.

Ehrm, anyway, did I mention that the new Eternal Tears of Sorrow album is out?
I've waited sooooo long for it... it's called Before the Bleeding Sun and I recommend it to all fans of melodic death metal with lots of keyboards.

I just wanted to say IRON MAIDEN IS KICKASS!!! So far I didn't like them as much but when I listened to Dance of Death I was like man they are good. Then I listened to Blood Brothers, and then I was like man they are really good. Then I listened to Trooper and Aces High and so far im listening to Seventh Son of A Seventh Son which is cool because they used to that title that was from Orson Scott Cards Book called Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. or probably another source. But any good song recommendations?

I listen to pretty much everything now but when I was younger (~'92 to '97) I used to listen to nothing but heavy metal. Favourites at the time were White Zombie, Pantera, Sepultura, Megadeath, Metallica, Ozzy. I also listened to Manson but I'm not sure if you can call him metal...

White Zombie was by far my favourite. Even now Astro-Creep: 2000 is an amazing album. If you haven't listened to this album then you're really missing out. I have Rob Zombie's first solo album, Hellbilly Deluxe, but I was a little disappointed. Despite still being pretty good, I felt it didn't quite match up to Astro or La Sexorcisto.

EDIT: Rammstein's stuff is also pretty good, from what I've heard

Now, Haggard is my favorite band, but Nightwish is fucking amazing too, especially live. I love metal bands with good female singers (any suggestions?). It's too bad almost no one in USA has heard of these bands. Check it.

Nightwish rules, one of my favorite bands ever, loved them since '98. Too bad many people are calling them sellouts now because they have been getting more attention. People suck.

Nightwish kind of lost me with Once but Century Child is the best album I own. Period.

Ever Dream is my deity.

Luca Turilli's Dreamquest ( I freakin' love it! Have a sample! ), Edenbridge, After Forever, Within Temptation, Tristania, Lacuna Coil ( kind of repetitive but I really like Heaven's A Lie ) and Dark Moor ( think they changed vocalist but the old songs by them are still awesome ).

There's a lot more, but that's what comes to mind at the moment.

Ever Dream is indeed one of the best Nightwish songs, as is Heaven's a Lie for Lacuna Coil, but Nai, how come you do not like Once?! I can't believe our tastes actually go in different directions for once (lol, get it?)! I love that album :S

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!! I've found one of the best bands in the world.

PORCUPINE TREE

Check out their album In Absentia. It's totally fucking awesome. I can't even describe the music you have to listen to it for yourself.

Porcupine Tree is cool.

Mastodon.. I never really saw the appeal. And on top of that the first single from Blood Mountain I don't care for.

I'm going to Dragonforce saturday. I haven't heard any songs from the band, but my boyfriend says they're great, so I think that counts for something. Just hope I'm not wasting any money on it. Wacken was a waste of money as well.

Lacuna Coil - Comalies - I really like 'em. I haven't been a fan of female vocals in the past but LC pull it of excellently and it doesn't sound like some opera shit like it usually does when women+metal.
