Old Man's Child is a pretty nice band which sounds a lot like Dimmu for reasons that you have already explained. I haven't heard Vermin yet, but seeing as it has gotten good reviews all over - I'm thinking I'll give it a shot. It's also pretty funny how you know about Anorexia Nervosa, and not Dimmu Borgir (since the latter is so much more famous). But that's just good because Anorexia is sooooo much better!

Make a couple of album recommendations and I will.

Cryhavoc: finnish melodic death metal, were pretty famous a few years ago, released two albums ("Sweetbriers" of 1998 & "Pitch-Black Blues" of 1999). I only heard Sweetbriers so far but it's a good band which sounds a bit like Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Kalmah and that ilk. Yeah, check 'em out if you like that kind of music. Catchy and nice.

I wonder if they'll ever be back :S

That's just yet another Iron Maiden best-of. I think, what, the 5014924th?

Edit: The new Falkenbach album is out. Folk/Viking/Melodic Black metal, awesome.
It gets bonus points for having a cool name. "Heralding The Fireblade".

That new Maiden is pretty ininteresting, Edward the Great was better. If i would buy a Maiden compilation album right now it would be "Death on the Road" Seems much more interesting. I'm waiting for their winter 06-07 release, that should be some good shit. If it is on par with Dance of Death i would call this new Bruce era the best yet. Brave New World and Dance of Death followeb by something of the same caliber would be awesome.

I dunno if Imentioned this but The Project Hate MCMXCIX are like the greatest melodic death metal ever so you should definitely check them out. I'm listening to their new album, Armageddon March Eternal [Symphony of Slit Wrists] but it would be best to find their self-titled, it's catchier. Anything Sweden shits out is gold.

Oh yeah, and the Swarming of Whores and Christianity Delete are like the best songs ever.

A fan is a strong word but a friend supporting your growth as a musician and the hopes of a X Japan - Kurenai cover The doom stuff is actually quite good, rough production gives it that little extra touch.

Kill Hell - Prelude to the Dark Prophecy of the Diabolical Unicorns From Saffle

Kill Hell - The Silent Screams From the Secret Dying Polkagrisar of Destiny

Title explanations:

Saffle is a swedish village which we enjoy to make fun of over here, and polkagrisar is a type of swedish candy. The titles of the songs (hell, even the name of the band) are intentionally overdramatic and therefore also funny. Each song is about 2 minutes long, and the line-up consists of the infamous Andie Brando (me) on drums, and Benny the Supreme on electric guitar. The songs were recorded in an abandoned shack in the woods (not really) using state of the art equipment (definitely not really).

I prefer "Prelude", it has a better drum passage (IMO) and some atmospheric background shrieks courtesy of yours truly. "Silent Screams" has a better intro though. Most people seem to prefer that one.

The songs were originally made out of improvisation but we liked how they turned out. Oh and turn down the volume

ENJOY

Low down the volume? Why must you speak such heresy? Hey, not bad man, however, yeah, high tech equipment...sounds like you're using a 15 watt amp for the guitar. Dang lack of cash. Make a hit record, get rich, to get better equipment, to make hit records :-D. You plan on pursuing the drums seriously? That'd be fucking awesome. I play guitar myself but unfortunately I can't record anything to show you how amazing I am (in my dreams).

I heard that recording device is a mp3 player which explains the quality of it all.

I have been thinking of getting a guitar. It's hard to find the time though.

Oh, well, heres a suggestion. Look online, and find a guitar that has the hardware you want and is aesthetically pleasing to you. In fact, find a few. According to the "what do you do on the internet" thread, you have time for this. However, I don't recommend buying it online though. This may be the harder part in finding time. Call up a local guitar shop, preferably a large chain shop, and see if they have the models you're interested in. Stop by the shop and play them. it could be something you do for fun on the weekend. I'm always out at a guitar shop or another trying out guitars I can't afford but want one day, so I already have a list of things I plan on getting. Bring some friends, raise some hell, its a good time imo. I don't know if they have a presence in Sweeden, but Guitar Center and Sam Ash generally have the things I'm interested in. Small shops are more useful if you're looking to haggle and find a bargain on new models, or are looking for old or discontinued models.

Yeah that amp for the guitar is hilariously bad, and part of the reason to why the sound sucks (there's that constant humming in the background). The other part is, as PSJ already pointed out, the fact that we used an MP3 player. And yeah I plan to pursue the drums, I haven't been taking any courses so far but I've learned in other ways and I feel like I'm home behind the kit. But we'll see what happens, recording music using my own skill has been a dream for a long time so this was a rich experience.

Bump because of THIS

Man I am SOOO happy, this is the new Mago de Oz release - and they are one of my favorite bands ever. However, despite the popularity this heavy/folk metal band has in their home country Spain, they aren't very famous outside of there. I've literally been sitting day out and day in lately in an attempt to find this online, to buy or to download, and then I find it at Piratebay (irony at it's best). AWESOME!!!

Downloading it now, I already heard the intro and it was enough to make me cry. I love this band so much!
