METAL!!! \m/

Yeah, I have both their albums and a few tracks listed as non-album songs. I heard the first single off of the new album on the radio and it was really good. But I'm finding it hard to tear myself from the first album to even give the second one a shot, since I just got both of them. Between this and the other things I've mentioned, I have no idea what to listen to first at any given time. Haven't felt like this since 96. I miss it.

    edit to below:
Sweet. Its hard for me to imagine you not liking it.

Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood."

Barles I'm glad to see you are discovering the metal gems that you have now come in contact with, and even happier to see that you are enjoying it. Carry on!

I like what little I heard of Leaves Eyes, but I never got into them seriously. Maybe I should. In fact I will first thing tomorrow.

Excuse the bump but I have to voice my opinion on several bands, first being Leaves' Eyes. I finally tried them, I have both albums, but Vinland Saga is the only one I've heard so far. What can I say? If I was in a headbanging mode I wouldn't listen to this, but it's some damn beautiful and atmospheric music in which the instruments are excellently used to build up a very convincing landscape of ice and snow. And the concept album is about vikings! Well I don't really know how to add to that, other than it's beautiful music which occasionally makes me want to cry. It's just too bad that all the stupid people in society would say that they sound like Evanescence (just because they also have a female front figure, of course).

    Other recommendations:

Led Zeppelin - Not metal, but 70s hard-rock. If there's anyone here who actually doesn't know who these guys are... well, what the fuck are you waiting for? Go get some pieces of history. Amazing drummer too.

Charon - This finnish goth metallic act recently released their new album Songs For Sinners. It's good.

...And Oceans - The ultimate bastard child between black & industrial metal. They sound a bit like Anorexia Nervosa except with more keyboards and techno elements. VERY recommended.

Asian Kung-Fu Generation - Not metal or hard rock actually but some of their songs are in the hard rock area (though normally punk rock). All of you should know these guys already (did 2nd opening for Naruto & 4th for Fullmetal Alchemist). Actually I only write them down here because I'm listening to them right now and I really like it.

I've also listened some more to Crashdiet. These young swedes are gonna hit it big eventually.

If a band is good or not is not determined by how big it is.

Give some examples of bands you like and the recommendations will come pouring down like rain. In the meantime you should listen to some Iron Maiden the best metal act in the world.

Start out with "number of the beast" great album to get you hooked, then you can keep going with "piece of mind" "powerslave" "seventh son of a seventh son" if you still like all of it skip up to "brave new world" and "dance of death" when you have listened through all of this you can just get the remaining albums.

For metal Einherjer has me hooked now, just bought their newest album, Blot. Also bought Immortal, Enslaved, Stormlord. But the only non metal CD I bought, which is probably a first for me in the past 8 years, has me completely addicted. Nick Cave - Murder Ballads.

Opeth, definately Opeth. These guys touch on an entire spectrum of metal. When they're brutal, there are few who tougher. When they're melodic, there a few that gentler. Death metal combined with symphonic influence and progressive metal, all with an atmospheric quality, all done with amazing skills. Listen to Opeth. Also, check out Leaves Eyes. There's a review of them on this page made by Terracosmo that'll tell you what they're about in a nutshell. I for one have listening to them damn near non-stop for the three days.

One of my favorite bands that's stood the test of time: Pantera. Yeah they're popular and well known and what not, but you know what, sometimes there's a valid reason for that. This is one of those times. They're skillful, brutal, and all around unequaled in what they do.

Another band that's freaking awesome is Death. In short, its death metal, played with supreme compositional intricacy, wasn't always the case. However, from what I've heard, this band lacks the symphonic influences of some other bands. Which is exactly the reason I like them so much. They get in plenty of beautiful melodies but its done with the electric guitar, and that makes they're sound very edgy.

Recommending Shaaman and Edguy, that's about it for this time.

Let me recommend The Kovenant. First 2 albums were black metal (and they were known as Covenant then). The 3 subsequent albums (out of which one is a remix album of their very first one) are with their new style, what I'd like to refer to as Techno Metal. Electronic, yet still dark, though not brutal as BM. Very good and catchy band. They also have Jan Axel von Blomberg, aka Hellhammer, as drummer.

The Kovenant is a great band, i'm not a big fan of BM but their BM albums are good. The Industrial remake of one of their BM releases is great to, worth a listen.

Yeah I listened to the new COB album. It's pretty good, though my time has been stolen by other bands lately.

Mallcore is stuff like Korn, Disturbed, Drowning Pool etc

I still haven't gotten around to listening to the new COB esxcept for the single, which isn't as good as it should be. So I'm listening to an oh-so-nice Emperor cover of Bathory's A Fine Day To Die.

Yah I think it is Mallcore, but drowning pool was cool back then. Until the lead singer died.

Okey, Gotwoot metal heads i am in need for your help.

I am lookinf for a swedish metal band with the name Hiroshima. They released an ablum in 1984 titled "Taste of Death", if you got any clues on this album i would like to know. They also released to singles in the same year first one named "Rock n' Roll Priest" and the second named "Soldier of the World" Any information on either of these releases would make me very happy.

EDIT: Just found the album, downloading at the moment. Have listened to track 1 and 2 so far and i can say already that this is one hell of an old gem, this is amazing. Under the right circumstances this band could have been huge. This is one of my best finds ever.

In addtition to this band i will also recommend Sword which is very similar, they released 2 albums in the late 80's. Metalized in 87 and Sweet Dreams in 88. If you are a fan of traditional heavy metal don't just sit there download Sword's both albums and Hiroshima - Taste of Death if you can find it.
