Some idiots just assume that he is because in the anime one time they think they saw a flashback of Orochimaru hitting him and he had the Uchiha Clan symbol on his back.

It was just a flashback of Kakashi getting hit, but don't tell them that.

Obito may be an Uchiha, but their has been no concrete proof of that. If he was, Kakashi might have his Sharingan eye.

There was a picture also, of the Fourth, teaching 3 students, one of them is Kakashi, a girl, and another was one guy with red sharingan eyes and he had a Uchiha symbol (I think).

So we guess Obito is that guy. Unless Obito is the girl. Or totally non-related whatsoever, for all you know, Obito could be the fourth. Although highly unlikely.

However to mention his name, it would probably have some significance. And we kinda connect the two together. Should be. Especially the Orochimaru hitting the uchiha clan symbol thingy.... It's just pure specualtion...

There was no picture EVER showing anyone with a Sharingan eye except for Kakashi, Itachi, and Sasuke. I don't know, but you must be seeing things in those little pictures. He did have a uniform that resembled Sasuke's old one, but don't read too much into that.

Kakashi's two teammates along with the mystery of his Sharingan shall remain, probably until near the end of the manga.

Chapter 122 - 16. At the bottom right, it did showed Kakashi's team mates. One of them could be Obito. But no Sharingan eye though. Probably he 'offed' it. Sorry there.
