No he didn't, Aone/Anbu would have so caught that.

Edit: Disregard all the other stuff I said.
Another Edit: OK, I screwed up a little bit in explaining.
In the manga the talking guy said: "Gaara is no longer there." However the translator put a little note saying he was unsure exactly what the name is.
In Aone's subbed version the talking guy says: "That is out of character." You do hear something that sounds like "Gaara". However, since we don't speak Japanese we think we hear him talking about Gaara.
Also "That is out of character." Makes a lot more sense if you take into account what they are talking about in their conversation.

but i dont know how they could mix such different phrases up... unless gaara means "character".

Yeah, this episode really makes you wonder what Naruto would have been like if raised normally. He may have been the fairly quiet, mild-mannered guy we saw in this episode.
As for ________ and ________ coming and saying "Gaara isn't here" (if that's what it was) were they hoping to join in the invasion, and possibly take power for themselves. That's my theory.

Nah, "Gaara is longer there" makes no sense in the conversation they were having. Just watch that scene again, and try to imagine him saying "Gaara is no longer there". Doesn't make much sense does it?

Baka_Desuyo thought that "Gaara is no longer there" might have been possibly true. I was just trying to show him that putting that phrase in their conversation would have made no sense. I'm assuming he's a manga reader too.

I was just listening to the ending of episode 80, and they DO say 'Gaara ni mo nai' which means "Gaara here [mo] not" ...basically. It would kinda make sense in an anime-arc way to give some sort of 'closure'. And maybe they're saying it cuz a youma/demon guy isn't there for them to get power from; with both gaara and naruto there, they could have been 'hitting two birds with one stone'. (And "Gaara" does not mean "character" in any way) Well, that's just my view I conjured up right now ^^''
