Sexy no Jutsu - Origin in Japanese Mythology?

My first post - so please be gentle with me

In japanese mythology the nine-tailed fox also has the ability to appear as a beautiful woman - which could be the reason for sexy no jutsu to be the first transformation technique that Naruto is able to master, and indeed for it's presence in the series.

Just a thought, and apologies if it's been mentioned here before

Yup. I remember reading Doreamon about that. Foxes would put a leaf on their forehead and do a backflip. THen they'll change to anything they want.

Then they'll seduce old men into sleeping with them. Or something like that.

Which is why, there was a theory in which people say that the Kyuubi is Naruto's mom. Heheh.
MmmMmm. Ooiiishiii

Now that would be a freaky family. To have your father die sealing your mother into your belly button. I'm never gonna look at my navel the same way again.

Now that i think about it. Thats not So bad. The 4th meets her on his travles. Falls in love. he finds out her Secrit and keeps it safe. but others find out and Try to get rid of her. she fights back in self defence and the Need to protect his land and son Go beyond his love for her. besides the 9 tail wasnt killed.

Also. the leaf thing Cute that the Symble of konoha is a leaf.

OK - maybe I might just change my mind - that works too as to where Naruto came from and why the fox is inside him - it would also explain the fox going on the rampage in the first place.

Wow - I missed spotting that reference completely, even after reading Stoopider's post - thanks Kumiriko

true, it could be alot worse ie. naruto's dad being the 4th and he had a thing for screwing animals...that woulda been bad.

If you really want raw animal screwage, go read the (relatively) uncensored Greek/Roman mythology -- not the children's crap, but those thick texts you find. Those god(esse)s basically screwed anything that moved.

Anyway, thanks for the tidbit of information. Very enlightening. I didn't know that animators/mangakas injected this much ancient literature into their works. Can't say the same for pop-culture American cartoons these days....

RE: Sexy no Jutsu - Origin in Japanese Mythology?

Thank you for the kind welcomes, it's kinda interesting in looking in to some of the japanese mythology - something to do while waiting patiently for the next ANBU-Aone release to come out) . In this case it was just a case of fiinally realising the connection.

It's surprising how much japanese mythology is slipped in to the anime series - I've also seen the monkey god pop up in all sorts of places (or references to him) and it always makes me smile to see him. Mainly because I have fond memories of the Live-Action TV Series 'Monkey' which deals with the legend of him escorting a holy man across from japan to india.

Anyhow - as I thought it was interesting I thought I'd share, and I wanted to say thanks to ANBU Aone for subbing so many great shows (especially Naruto).

BTW - my money is the Naruto is in fact the 4th - as nine-tails is still inside of Naruto it's soul was not eaten, and in the last few episodes we find out that both souls are taken together and spend all eternity in conflict. Assuming that both have to be taken at once then if the fox is still around then the 4th must still be around somehow. So my belief is that the fourth trapped the fox inside his own body, but the of the jutsu not being able to complete was to take all the fourths knowledge and skill - which would explain why he was turned back to a baby.

That fox is Naruto's mom? That's impossible! Remember what happens when they meet while he's "inside" his mind/body during that cliff episode? The fox slashes against the gates then complains about the seal and talks about how it'd like to break out and devour him and tear him apart and tries to scare the shit out of him. Plus the fox has one pretty manly voice. If the fox was Naruto's parent then I doubt it'd act that way.

Dazed and confused. all The fox can see in naruto is that he is the jailor. the fox wount see naruto as the child he once was. and the deep voice. Maybe it has a cold. it is Tarrably Damp down there. besides. the anime is behind the manga. they cant know whats planed far nuf head to get everything correct

The Monkey King is from the centuries-old story "The Journey to the West" that is very popular in both China and Japan.
I can remember reading a translation of it at around the same time I discovered a history of Miyamoto Musashi (must have been 20 years ago now) - those were what really got me interested in Japanese folklore and mythology, and I suppose my love of Manga and Anime have grown from there.

Mind you I also used to play a lot of AD&D (including the japanese expansion) and Bushido - so it's also come from there as well.

And yes.... I am an old git, but that just means I can afford better toys
