Well, Baki was their sensei and he strategized the invasion of Konoha, so, sorta like a 4 star general.
He's afraid of Gaara, but eventually, Gaara obeys him. The dead Kage was also afraid of Gaaara, which didn't prevent him from keep on being a Kage.
Gaara may have turned good, but he still psychologically instable...and he has no strategizing skills.
Compare him with Shino and Shika...he is pretty much just brute Shukaku's force...
I think Baki can be the Kazekage. So far, from all the sand ninjas we saw, well we didn't see many of them, he seem to be the best.
And the bunch of sound punks were on level 2, so not exactly your average punks.

keep in mind that hes only.. and ONLY on par with Genma. (anyone whos a kage and is on par with genma, well then he sucks CRAP)
the old kazakage wasn't afraid of gaara, he was only concerned with the villager's safety.

the samd and there counterparts from konohona fight against the sound and win

meanwhile (this is the kool bit) naruto fights sasuke...almost to death, neither is able to move very much then sasuke finnally understands why he should stay with konohona, but at that point sound nin arrive to take him to orochimaru one stays behind to finish off naruto. lee and gaara arrive just in the nick of time to fight off and kill the sound nin. naruto is taken back to konohona and informed of the other results in the mission......(chouji and neji are saved by tsunade). AND THEN... sasuke is at sound headquarter orochimaru welcomes him and goes "You want power, u can have it stay here and ill teach you the full power of your sharingan"....thats all i can think of so far lol

Yes that would be pretty lame.

What I hope for -

Sasuke goes away.
Sakura gets hit by a bus.
Choji Kicks bucket.
Neji has near death experience that causes his seal to disappear.
Hinata becomes Tsunade's newest apprentice and replaces Sakura as a main character.

Doubt it will happen though.

i would like to see Gaara be kazekage would be cool as jing said he might actually care for ppl other then himself would be cool tho Gaara as a kazekaga hehe wearing those clothes lol

I can't think of a logical end to this arc. All ends invalidate some main point. Sasuke going to Oro makes the Leaf/Sand mission pointless; Sasuke going back to Konoha makes all we know about Sasuke pointless. The only thing I can think of is Sasuke killing Orochimaru, Kabuto killing Orochimaru, or another unknown party being introduced which could extricate us from this story-predicament.

I'm very much hoping it's a new character.

Also, I ... *crosses fingers* ... feel Sakura becoming a better character soon.

How about this one

Naruto tries to catch Sasuke, but gets captured by Itachi and Sashimi (kogashimi or whatever the hell his name was). Now would be the most opportune time to capture Naruto since there aren't any strong people around. Everyone else is showing up, why not add two more people. Sasuke catches a glimpse of Itachi and turns back to fight Itachi. Itachi gives him an easy beating, even at level two. Itachi leaves with his captive Naruto.

The recovery squad defeats the remaining sound nins and returns home with a unconscious Sasuke. Sasuke wakes up with despair since there was still such a difference between himself and his brother. Then he remembers that Kakashi stated that the seal would weaken and stop his growth. He decides to train harder with Kakashi.

Meanwhile Itachi and Sashimi are traveling through Cloud country to get to Akatsuki (where ever the hell that is) and stumble upon some badass cloud ninjas. Naruto escapes during the fight. Naruto comes back home.
