Thread: Shin Otaku?

    Shin Otaku?

Anyone else notice these new subbers for Naruto? They started with Episode 77 and recently released 78. Anyone seen their subs? I want to know if the quality is good or not. BTW: Please don't discuss the episodes here, I don't want to get this thread locked.

Haven't seen it, but it seems kinda overloaded in the sub area right now .. we've already got A/A for super high quality, and Bakasan for reasonable quality + super speed. Oh well, the upside is that if one group is having problems, there will always be a couple others to make sure we get our naruto fix! TW is also good but sooooooo sloooooooooooow.

Yeah, TW lost all its following because they couldn't keep up with Bakasan and AnbuAone. Personally, I think those two are all we need, but you're right it might be nice to have a backup just in case.

    Shin Otaku?

i tried Shin Otaku....only skimmed through some parts of it though
the translations seemed for the most part accurate, but whenever the scene pans (which is actually alot)...everything gets all choppy
this episode deserves better than that

    I kinda like animerev.

They seemed to have caughten up recently. Their qulity rivals that of anbu, and awhile back, their speed was faster.

Shin Otaku isn't bad, they have a pretty fast release time. They can be good if Bakasan's torrent is down and ANBUAonE still haven't released theirs.

    Shin Otaku?

Ah, didn't catch seeing this thread before looking at the episode discussion one.

I downloaded Shin Otaku's sub and it seems fine quality-wise. Things don't get choppy for me when the screen pans as AssertnFailure says for his. I think it probably depends on codecs. I can't read/translate Japanese so I don't know much on translation accuracy, but for the most part the English that came out seemed to fit (except for one line which I'm pretty sure is a bit off).

The S-O torrent just downloaded faster for me than Bakasan's (got a couple tracker errors for the first few minutes) so I ended up watching that one.

EDIT: Also, as Himura-san said in the episode discussion, S-O didn't translate the new opening and ending songs.
EDIT: making sure there's no spoilers

Yeah, and people going week-to-week will be disappointed that S-O doensn't translate the preview for the next episode

    A/A is definitely the best.

I've just watched the Shin Otaku Version, and i was pretty imprressed by it actually, especially considering they are new.

If TW somehow did some mega TL and translated 30 episode with in a month... would u think the followers would come back?

Well the video quality is generally much clearer, the font of the subtitles make it look more professional than bakasan. Actually SO uses the same font as TW, but in white and not yellow, and also the font size is abit bigger. But i think the translation in SO could be slightly better. Basically SO is somewhere between bakasan and ANBU-AonE. This is a personal opinion

For Episode 81, SO says they will have karaoke for the op/ed songs.
